1 O Lord my God, in You I have taken refuge; Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,
O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me:
2 O r he will tear my soul like a lion, Dragging me away, while there is none to deliver.
Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3 O Lord my God, if I have done this, If there is injustice in my hands,
O Lord my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands;
4 I f I have rewarded evil to my friend, Or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,
If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)
5 L et the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it; And let him trample my life down to the ground And lay my glory in the dust. Selah.
Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah.
6 A rise, O Lord, in Your anger; Lift up Yourself against the rage of my adversaries, And arouse Yourself for me; You have appointed judgment.
Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded.
7 L et the assembly of the peoples encompass You, And over them return on high.
So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
8 T he Lord judges the peoples; Vindicate me, O Lord, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me.
9 O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; For the righteous God tries the hearts and minds.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
10 M y shield is with God, Who saves the upright in heart.
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
11 G od is a righteous judge, And a God who has indignation every day.
God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
12 I f a man does not repent, He will sharpen His sword; He has bent His bow and made it ready.
If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready.
13 H e has also prepared for Himself deadly weapons; He makes His arrows fiery shafts.
He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors.
14 B ehold, he travails with wickedness, And he conceives mischief and brings forth falsehood.
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
15 H e has dug a pit and hollowed it out, And has fallen into the hole which he made.
He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.
16 H is mischief will return upon his own head, And his violence will descend upon his own pate.
His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate.
17 I will give thanks to the Lord according to His righteousness And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high.
