1 E ntonces Débora y Barac, hijo de Abinoam, cantaron en aquel día, diciendo:

Then sang Deborah and Barak the son of Abinoam on that day, saying,

2 ¡ Por haberse puesto al frente los jefes en Israel, por haberse ofrecido el pueblo voluntariamente, bendecid al Señor!

Praise ye the Lord for the avenging of Israel, when the people willingly offered themselves.

3 ¡ Oíd, reyes; prestad oído, príncipes! Yo al Señor, yo cantaré, cantaré alabanzas al Señor, Dios de Israel.

Hear, O ye kings; give ear, O ye princes; I, even I, will sing unto the Lord; I will sing praise to the Lord God of Israel.

4 S eñor, cuando saliste de Seir, cuando marchaste del campo de Edom, la tierra tembló, también cayeron gotas del cielo, y las nubes destilaron agua.

Lord, when thou wentest out of Seir, when thou marchedst out of the field of Edom, the earth trembled, and the heavens dropped, the clouds also dropped water.

5 L os montes se estremecieron ante la presencia del Señor, aquel Sinaí, ante la presencia del Señor, Dios de Israel.

The mountains melted from before the Lord, even that Sinai from before the Lord God of Israel.

6 E n los días de Samgar, hijo de Anat, en los días de Jael, quedaron desiertos los caminos, y los viajeros andaban por sendas tortuosas.

In the days of Shamgar the son of Anath, in the days of Jael, the highways were unoccupied, and the travellers walked through byways.

7 C esaron los campesinos, cesaron en Israel, hasta que yo, Débora, me levanté, hasta que me levanté, como madre en Israel.

The inhabitants of the villages ceased, they ceased in Israel, until that I Deborah arose, that I arose a mother in Israel.

10 L os que cabalgáis en asnas blancas, los que os sentáis en ricos tapices, los que viajáis por el camino, cantad.

Speak, ye that ride on white asses, ye that sit in judgment, and walk by the way.

11 A l sonido de los que dividen las manadas entre los abrevaderos, allí repetirán los actos de justicia del Señor, los actos de justicia para con sus campesinos en Israel. Entonces el pueblo del Señor descendió a las puertas.

They that are delivered from the noise of archers in the places of drawing water, there shall they rehearse the righteous acts of the Lord, even the righteous acts toward the inhabitants of his villages in Israel: then shall the people of the Lord go down to the gates.

12 D espierta, despierta, Débora; despierta, despierta, entona un cántico. Levántate, Barac, y lleva a tus cautivos, hijo de Abinoam.

Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive, thou son of Abinoam.

13 E ntonces los sobrevivientes descendieron sobre los nobles; el pueblo del Señor vino a mí como guerreros.

Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over the nobles among the people: the Lord made me have dominion over the mighty.

14 D e Efraín descendieron los radicados en Amalec, en pos de ti, Benjamín, con tus pueblos; de Maquir descendieron jefes, y de Zabulón los que manejan vara de mando.

Out of Ephraim was there a root of them against Amalek; after thee, Benjamin, among thy people; out of Machir came down governors, and out of Zebulun they that handle the pen of the writer.

15 L os príncipes de Isacar estaban con Débora; como Isacar, así también Barac; al valle se apresuraron pisándole los talones; entre las divisiones de Rubén había grandes resoluciones de corazón.

And the princes of Issachar were with Deborah; even Issachar, and also Barak: he was sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.

16 ¿ Por qué te sentaste entre los rediles, escuchando los toques de flauta para los rebaños? Entre las divisiones de Rubén había gran escudriñamiento de corazón.

Why abodest thou among the sheepfolds, to hear the bleatings of the flocks? For the divisions of Reuben there were great searchings of heart.

17 G alaad se quedó al otro lado del Jordán. ¿Y por qué se quedó Dan en las naves? Aser se sentó a la orilla del mar, y se quedó junto a sus puertos.

Gilead abode beyond Jordan: and why did Dan remain in ships? Asher continued on the sea shore, and abode in his breaches.

18 Z abulón era pueblo que despreció su vida hasta la muerte. Y también Neftalí, en las alturas del campo.

Zebulun and Naphtali were a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death in the high places of the field.

19 V inieron los reyes y pelearon; pelearon entonces los reyes de Canaán en Taanac, cerca de las aguas de Meguido; no tomaron despojos de plata.

The kings came and fought, then fought the kings of Canaan in Taanach by the waters of Megiddo; they took no gain of money.

20 D esde los cielos las estrellas pelearon, desde sus órbitas pelearon contra Sísara.

They fought from heaven; the stars in their courses fought against Sisera.

21 E l torrente Cisón los barrió, el antiguo torrente, el torrente Cisón. Marcha, alma mía con poder.

The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.

22 E ntonces resonaron los cascos de los caballos por el galopar, el galopar de sus valientes corceles.

Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.

23 “ Maldecid a Meroz”, dijo el ángel del Señor, “maldecid, maldecid a sus moradores; porque no vinieron en ayuda del Señor, en ayuda del Señor contra los guerreros.”

Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the Lord, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the Lord, to the help of the Lord against the mighty.

24 B endita entre las mujeres es Jael, mujer de Heber ceneo; bendita sea entre las mujeres de la tienda.

Blessed above women shall Jael the wife of Heber the Kenite be, blessed shall she be above women in the tent.

25 E l pidió agua, y ella le dio leche; en taza de nobles le trajo cuajada.

He asked water, and she gave him milk; she brought forth butter in a lordly dish.

26 E xtendió ella la mano hacia la estaca de la tienda, y su diestra hacia el martillo de trabajadores. Entonces golpeó a Sísara, desbarató su cabeza; destruyó y perforó sus sienes.

She put her hand to the nail, and her right hand to the workmen's hammer; and with the hammer she smote Sisera, she smote off his head, when she had pierced and stricken through his temples.

27 A sus pies él se encorvó, cayó, quedó tendido; a sus pies se encorvó y cayó; donde se encorvó, allí quedó muerto.

At her feet he bowed, he fell, he lay down: at her feet he bowed, he fell: where he bowed, there he fell down dead.

28 M iraba por la ventana y se lamentaba la madre de Sísara, por las celosías: “¿Por qué se tarda en venir su carro? ¿Por qué se retrasa el trotar de sus carros?”

The mother of Sisera looked out at a window, and cried through the lattice, Why is his chariot so long in coming? why tarry the wheels of his chariots?

29 S us sabias princesas le respondían, aun a sí misma ella repite sus palabras:

Her wise ladies answered her, yea, she returned answer to herself,

30 “ ¿Acaso no han hallado el botín y se lo están repartiendo? ¿Una doncella, dos doncellas para cada guerrero; para Sísara un botín de tela de colores, un botín de tela de colores bordada, tela de colores de doble bordadura en el cuello del victorioso ?”

Have they not sped? have they not divided the prey; to every man a damsel or two; to Sisera a prey of divers colours, a prey of divers colours of needlework, of divers colours of needlework on both sides, meet for the necks of them that take the spoil?

31 A sí perezcan todos tus enemigos, oh Señor; mas sean los que te aman como la salida del sol en su fuerza. Y el país tuvo descanso por cuarenta años.

So let all thine enemies perish, O Lord: but let them that love him be as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had rest forty years.
