Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 Y si tuviera el don de profecía, y entendiera todos los misterios y todo conocimiento, y si tuviera toda la fe como para trasladar montañas, pero no tengo amor, nada soy.

And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 Y si diera todos mis bienes para dar de comer a los pobres, y si entregara mi cuerpo para ser quemado, pero no tengo amor, de nada me aprovecha.

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 E l amor es paciente, es bondadoso; el amor no tiene envidia; el amor no es jactancioso, no es arrogante;

Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 n o se porta indecorosamente; no busca lo suyo, no se irrita, no toma en cuenta el mal recibido;

Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 n o se regocija de la injusticia, sino que se alegra con la verdad;

Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 t odo lo sufre, todo lo cree, todo lo espera, todo lo soporta.

Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 E l amor nunca deja de ser; pero si hay dones de profecía, se acabarán; si hay lenguas, cesarán; si hay conocimiento, se acabará.

Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 P orque en parte conocemos, y en parte profetizamos;

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 p ero cuando venga lo perfecto, lo incompleto se acabará.

But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 C uando yo era niño, hablaba como niño, pensaba como niño, razonaba como niño; pero cuando llegué a ser hombre, dejé las cosas de niño.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 P orque ahora vemos por un espejo, veladamente, pero entonces veremos cara a cara; ahora conozco en parte, pero entonces conoceré plenamente, como he sido conocido.

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 Y ahora permanecen la fe, la esperanza y el amor, estos tres; pero el mayor de ellos es el amor.

And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.
