1 C uidad de no practicar vuestra justicia delante de los hombres para ser vistos por ellos; de otra manera no tendréis recompensa de vuestro Padre que está en los cielos. Las ofrendas

Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.

2 P or eso, cuando des limosna, no toques trompeta delante de ti, como hacen los hipócritas en las sinagogas y en las calles, para ser alabados por los hombres. En verdad os digo que ya han recibido su recompensa.

Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

3 P ero tú, cuando des limosna, que no sepa tu mano izquierda lo que hace tu derecha,

But when thou doest alms, let not thy left hand know what thy right hand doeth:

4 p ara que tu limosna sea en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará. La oración

That thine alms may be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly.

5 Y cuando oréis, no seáis como los hipócritas; porque a ellos les gusta ponerse en pie y orar en las sinagogas y en las esquinas de las calles, para ser vistos por los hombres. En verdad os digo que ya han recibido su recompensa.

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

6 P ero tú, cuando ores, entra en tu aposento, y cuando hayas cerrado la puerta, ora a tu Padre que está en secreto, y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará.

But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.

7 Y al orar, no uséis repeticiones sin sentido, como los gentiles, porque ellos se imaginan que serán oídos por su palabrería.

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 P or tanto, no os hagáis semejantes a ellos; porque vuestro Padre sabe lo que necesitáis antes que vosotros le pidáis. El Padre nuestro

Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 V osotros, pues, orad de esta manera: “Padre nuestro que estás en los cielos, santificado sea tu nombre.

After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 “ Venga tu reino. Hágase tu voluntad, así en la tierra como en el cielo.

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 “ Danos hoy el pan nuestro de cada día.

Give us this day our daily bread.

12 “ Y perdónanos nuestras deudas, como también nosotros hemos perdonado a nuestros deudores.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 “ Y no nos metas en tentación, mas líbranos del mal. Porque tuyo es el reino y el poder y la gloria para siempre jamás. Amén. ”

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 P orque si perdonáis a los hombres sus transgresiones, también vuestro Padre celestial os perdonará a vosotros.

For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 P ero si no perdonáis a los hombres, tampoco vuestro Padre perdonará vuestras transgresiones. El ayuno

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

16 Y cuando ayunéis, no pongáis cara triste, como los hipócritas; porque ellos desfiguran sus rostros para mostrar a los hombres que están ayunando. En verdad os digo que ya han recibido su recompensa.

Moreover when ye fast, be not, as the hypocrites, of a sad countenance: for they disfigure their faces, that they may appear unto men to fast. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

17 P ero tú, cuando ayunes, unge tu cabeza y lava tu rostro,

But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face;

18 p ara no hacer ver a los hombres que ayunas, sino a tu Padre que está en secreto; y tu Padre, que ve en lo secreto, te recompensará. El verdadero tesoro

That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall reward thee openly.

19 N o os acumuléis tesoros en la tierra, donde la polilla y la herrumbre destruyen, y donde ladrones penetran y roban;

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

20 s ino acumulaos tesoros en el cielo, donde ni la polilla ni la herrumbre destruyen, y donde ladrones no penetran ni roban;

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

21 p orque donde esté tu tesoro, allí estará también tu corazón.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 L a lámpara del cuerpo es el ojo; por eso, si tu ojo está sano, todo tu cuerpo estará lleno de luz.

The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.

23 P ero si tu ojo está malo, todo tu cuerpo estará lleno de oscuridad. Así que, si la luz que hay en ti es oscuridad, ¡cuán grande será la oscuridad!

But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

24 N adie puede servir a dos señores; porque o aborrecerá a uno y amará al otro, o se apegará a uno y despreciará al otro. No podéis servir a Dios y a las riquezas.

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

25 P or eso os digo, no os preocupéis por vuestra vida, qué comeréis o qué beberéis; ni por vuestro cuerpo, qué vestiréis. ¿No es la vida más que el alimento y el cuerpo más que la ropa?

Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

26 M irad las aves del cielo, que no siembran, ni siegan, ni recogen en graneros, y sin embargo, vuestro Padre celestial las alimenta. ¿No sois vosotros de mucho más valor que ellas?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?

27 ¿ Y quién de vosotros, por ansioso que esté, puede añadir una hora al curso de su vida ?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?

28 Y por la ropa, ¿por qué os preocupáis ? Observad cómo crecen los lirios del campo; no trabajan, ni hilan;

And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:

29 p ero os digo que ni Salomón en toda su gloria se vistió como uno de éstos.

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

30 Y si Dios viste así la hierba del campo, que hoy es y mañana es echada al horno, ¿no hará mucho más por vosotros, hombres de poca fe ?

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

31 P or tanto, no os preocupéis, diciendo: “¿Qué comeremos?” o “¿qué beberemos?” o “¿con qué nos vestiremos?”

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?

32 P orque los gentiles buscan ansiosamente todas estas cosas; que vuestro Padre celestial sabe que necesitáis de todas estas cosas.

(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

33 P ero buscad primero su reino y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

34 P or tanto, no os preocupéis por el día de mañana; porque el día de mañana se cuidará de sí mismo. Bástele a cada día sus propios problemas.

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
