1 C uando llegó el día de Pentecostés, estaban todos juntos en un mismo lugar.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 D e repente vino del cielo un ruido como el de una ráfaga de viento impetuoso que llenó toda la casa donde estaban sentados,

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 y se les aparecieron lenguas como de fuego que, repartiéndose, se posaron sobre cada uno de ellos.

And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 T odos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo y comenzaron a hablar en otras lenguas, según el Espíritu les daba habilidad para expresarse.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 Y había judíos que moraban en Jerusalén, hombres piadosos, procedentes de todas las naciones bajo el cielo.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

6 Y al ocurrir este estruendo, la multitud se juntó; y estaban desconcertados porque cada uno los oía hablar en su propia lengua.

Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.

7 Y estaban asombrados y se maravillaban, diciendo: Mirad, ¿no son galileos todos estos que están hablando?

And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?

8 ¿ Cómo es que cada uno de nosotros los oímos hablar en nuestra lengua en la que hemos nacido?

And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?

9 P artos, medos y elamitas, habitantes de Mesopotamia, de Judea y de Capadocia, del Ponto y de Asia,

Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,

10 d e Frigia y de Panfilia, de Egipto y de las regiones de Libia alrededor de Cirene, viajeros de Roma, tanto judíos como prosélitos,

Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes,

11 c retenses y árabes, les oímos hablar en nuestros idiomas de las maravillas de Dios.

Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

12 T odos estaban asombrados y perplejos, diciéndose unos a otros: ¿Qué quiere decir esto?

And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this?

13 P ero otros se burlaban y decían: Están borrachos. Primer sermón de Pedro

Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.

14 E ntonces Pedro, poniéndose en pie con los once, alzó la voz y les declaró: Varones judíos y todos los que vivís en Jerusalén, sea esto de vuestro conocimiento y prestad atención a mis palabras,

But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

15 p orque éstos no están borrachos como vosotros suponéis, pues apenas es la hora tercera del día;

For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

16 s ino que esto es lo que fue dicho por medio del profeta Joel:

But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

17 Y sucedera en los ultimos dias —dice Dios— que derramare de mi Espiritu sobre toda carne; y vuestros hijos y vuestras hijas profetizaran, vuestros jovenes veran visiones, y vuestros ancianos soñaran sueños;

And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

18 y aun sobre mis siervos y sobre mis siervas derramare de mi Espiritu en esos dias, y profetizarán.

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

19 Y mostrare prodigios arriba en el cielo y señales abajo en la tierra: sangre, fuego y columna de humo.

And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke:

20 E l sol se convertira en tinieblas y la luna en sangre, antes que venga el dia grande y glorioso del Señor.

The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and notable day of the Lord come:

21 Y sucedera que todo aquel que invoque el nombre del Señor sera salvo.

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

22 V arones israelitas, escuchad estas palabras: Jesús el Nazareno, varón confirmado por Dios entre vosotros con milagros, prodigios y señales que Dios hizo en medio vuestro a través de El, tal como vosotros mismos sabéis,

Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know:

23 a éste, entregado por el plan predeterminado y el previo conocimiento de Dios, clavasteis en una cruz por manos de impíos y le matasteis,

Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

24 a quien Dios resucitó, poniendo fin a la agonía de la muerte, puesto que no era posible que El quedara bajo el dominio de ella.

Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

25 P orque David dice de El: Veia siempre al Señor en mi presencia; pues esta a mi diestra para que yo no sea conmovido.

For David speaketh concerning him, I foresaw the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right hand, that I should not be moved:

26 P or lo cual mi corazon se alegro y mi lengua se regocijo; y aun hasta mi carne descansara en esperanza;

Therefore did my heart rejoice, and my tongue was glad; moreover also my flesh shall rest in hope:

27 p ues tu no abandonaras mi alma en el Hades, ni permitiras que tu Santo vea corrupcion.

Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell, neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.

28 M e has hecho conocer los caminos de la vida; me llenaras de gozo con tu presencia.

Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

29 H ermanos, del patriarca David os puedo decir confiadamente que murió y fue sepultado, y su sepulcro está entre nosotros hasta el día de hoy.

Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is with us unto this day.

30 P ero siendo profeta, y sabiendo que Dios le habia jurado sentar a uno de sus descendientes en su trono,

Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;

31 m iró hacia el futuro y habló de la resurrección de Cristo, que no fue abandonado en el Hades, ni su carne sufrio corrupcion.

He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.

32 A este Jesús resucitó Dios, de lo cual todos nosotros somos testigos.

This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

33 A sí que, exaltado a la diestra de Dios, y habiendo recibido del Padre la promesa del Espíritu Santo, ha derramado esto que vosotros veis y oís.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

34 P orque David no ascendió a los cielos, pero él mismo dice: Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: “ Sientate a mi diestra,

For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

35 h asta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.”

Until I make thy foes thy footstool.

36 S epa, pues, con certeza toda la casa de Israel, que a este Jesús a quien vosotros crucificasteis, Dios le ha hecho Señor y Cristo. Efectos del sermón de Pedro

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37 A l oír esto, compungidos de corazón, dijeron a Pedro y a los demás apóstoles: Hermanos, ¿qué haremos ?

Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38 Y Pedro les dijo: Arrepentíos y sed bautizados cada uno de vosotros en el nombre de Jesucristo para perdón de vuestros pecados, y recibiréis el don del Espíritu Santo.

Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39 P orque la promesa es para vosotros y para vuestros hijos y para todos los que están lejos, para tantos como el Señor nuestro Dios llame.

For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

40 Y con muchas otras palabras testificaba solemnemente y les exhortaba diciendo: Sed salvos de esta perversa generación.

And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.

41 E ntonces los que habían recibido su palabra fueron bautizados; y se añadieron aquel día como tres mil almas.

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

42 Y se dedicaban continuamente a las enseñanzas de los apóstoles, a la comunión, al partimiento del pan y a la oración. Comunión de los creyentes

And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43 S obrevino temor a toda persona; y muchos prodigios y señales eran hechas por los apóstoles.

And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44 T odos los que habían creído estaban juntos y tenían todas las cosas en común;

And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45 v endían todas sus propiedades y sus bienes y los compartían con todos, según la necesidad de cada uno.

And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46 D ía tras día continuaban unánimes en el templo y partiendo el pan en los hogares, comían juntos con alegría y sencillez de corazón,

And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47 a labando a Dios y hallando favor con todo el pueblo. Y el Señor añadía cada día al número de ellos los que iban siendo salvos.

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.
