1 Y aconteció que en uno de los días cuando El enseñaba a la gente en el templo y anunciaba el evangelio, se le enfrentaron los principales sacerdotes y los escribas con los ancianos,

And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders,

2 y le hablaron, diciéndole: Dinos, ¿con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, o quién te dio esta autoridad?

And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?

3 R espondiendo El, les dijo: Yo también os haré una pregunta; decidme:

And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me:

4 E l bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres?

The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men?

5 Y ellos discurrían entre sí, diciendo: Si decimos: “Del cielo”, El dirá: “¿Por qué no le creísteis?”

And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

6 P ero si decimos: “De los hombres”, todo el pueblo nos matará a pedradas, pues están convencidos de que Juan era un profeta.

But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.

7 Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde era.

And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was.

8 J esús entonces les dijo: Tampoco yo os diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas. Parábola de los labradores malvados

And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

9 Y comenzó a referir al pueblo esta parábola: Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a labradores, y se fue de viaje por mucho tiempo.

Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

10 Y al tiempo de la vendimia envió un siervo a los labradores para que le dieran parte del fruto de la viña; pero los labradores, después de golpearlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

11 V olvió a enviar otro siervo; y ellos también a éste, después de golpearlo y ultrajarlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

12 V olvió a enviar un tercero; y a éste también lo hirieron y echaron fuera.

And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

13 E ntonces el dueño de la viña dijo: “¿Qué haré? Enviaré a mi hijo amado; quizá a él lo respetarán.”

Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

14 P ero cuando los labradores lo vieron, razonaron entre sí, diciendo: “Este es el heredero; matémoslo para que la heredad sea nuestra.”

But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

15 Y arrojándolo fuera de la viña, lo mataron. Por tanto, ¿qué les hará el dueño de la viña?

So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

16 V endrá y destruirá a estos labradores, y dará la viña a otros. Y cuando ellos oyeron esto, dijeron: ¡Nunca suceda tal cosa!

He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

17 P ero El, mirándolos fijamente, dijo: Entonces, ¿qué quiere decir esto que está escrito: “ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido ”?

And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

18 T odo el que caiga sobre esa piedra será hecho pedazos; y aquel sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo. El pago del impuesto al César

Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

19 L os escribas y los principales sacerdotes procuraron echarle mano en aquella misma hora, pero temieron al pueblo; porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola.

And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; and they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

20 Y acechándole, enviaron espías que fingieran ser justos, para sorprenderle en alguna declaración a fin de entregarle al poder y autoridad del gobernador.

And they watched him, and sent forth spies, which should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him unto the power and authority of the governor.

21 Y le preguntaron, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que hablas y enseñas rectamente, y no te guías por las apariencias, sino que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios.

And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

22 ¿ Nos es lícito pagar impuesto al César, o no?

Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Caesar, or no?

23 P ero El, percibiendo su astucia, les dijo:

But he perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me?

24 M ostradme un denario. ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción que lleva? Y ellos le dijeron: Del César.

Shew me a penny. Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Caesar's.

25 E ntonces El les dijo: Pues dad al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.

And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's.

26 Y no podían sorprenderle en palabra alguna delante del pueblo; y maravillados de su respuesta, callaron. Pregunta sobre la resurrección

And they could not take hold of his words before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

27 Y acercándose a El algunos de los saduceos (los que dicen que no hay resurrección), le preguntaron,

Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,

28 d iciendo: Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: “ Si el hermano de alguno muere, teniendo mujer, y no deja hijos, que su hermano tome la mujer y levante descendencia a su hermano.”

Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

29 E ran, pues, siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar hijos;

There were therefore seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died without children.

30 y el segundo

And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

31 y el tercero la tomaron; y de la misma manera también los siete, y murieron sin dejar hijos.

And the third took her; and in like manner the seven also: and they left no children, and died.

32 P or último, murió también la mujer.

Last of all the woman died also.

33 P or tanto, en la resurrección, ¿de cuál de ellos será mujer? Porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer.

Therefore in the resurrection whose wife of them is she? for seven had her to wife.

34 Y Jesús les dijo: Los hijos de este siglo se casan y son dados en matrimonio,

And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:

35 p ero los que son tenidos por dignos de alcanzar aquel siglo y la resurrección de entre los muertos, ni se casan ni son dados en matrimonio;

But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:

36 p orque tampoco pueden ya morir, pues son como ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, siendo hijos de la resurrección.

Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.

37 P ero que los muertos resucitan, aun Moisés lo enseñó, en aquel pasaje sobre la zarza ardiendo, donde llama al Señor, el Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac, y Dios de Jacob.

Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.

38 E l no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos; porque todos viven para El.

For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

39 Y algunos de los escribas respondieron, y dijeron: Maestro, bien has hablado.

Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

40 P orque ya no se atrevían a preguntarle nada. Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David

And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

41 E ntonces El les dijo: ¿Cómo es que dicen que el Cristo es el hijo de David ?

And he said unto them, How say they that Christ is David's son?

42 P ues David mismo dice en el libro de los Salmos: El Señor dijo a mi Señor: “ Sientate a mi diestra,

And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,

43 h asta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies.”

Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

44 D avid, por tanto, le llama “Señor.” ¿Cómo, pues, es El su hijo? Advertencia contra los escribas

David therefore calleth him Lord, how is he then his son?

45 M ientras todo el pueblo escuchaba, dijo a los discípulos:

Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

46 C uidaos de los escribas, a quienes les gusta andar con vestiduras largas, y son amantes de los saludos respetuosos en las plazas, y de ocupar los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los lugares de honor en los banquetes;

Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

47 q ue devoran las casas de las viudas, y por las apariencias hacen largas oraciones; ellos recibirán mayor condenación.

Which devour widows' houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.
