1 R euniendo a los doce, les dio poder y autoridad sobre todos los demonios y para sanar enfermedades.

Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

2 Y los envió a proclamar el reino de Dios y a sanar a los enfermos.

And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

3 Y les dijo: No toméis nada para el camino, ni bordón, ni alforja, ni pan, ni dinero; ni tengáis dos túnicas cada uno.

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

4 E n cualquier casa donde entréis, quedaos allí, y sea de allí vuestra salida.

And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.

5 Y en cuanto a los que no os reciban, al salir de esa ciudad, sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies en testimonio contra ellos.

And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

6 E ntonces salieron, e iban por las aldeas anunciando el evangelio y sanando por todas partes. Herodes oye hablar de Jesús

And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

7 H erodes el tetrarca se enteró de todo lo que estaba pasando, y estaba muy perplejo, porque algunos decían que Juan había resucitado de entre los muertos,

Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;

8 o tros, que Elías había aparecido, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos había resucitado.

And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.

9 E ntonces Herodes dijo: A Juan yo lo hice decapitar; ¿quién es, entonces, éste de quien oigo tales cosas? Y procuraba verle. Alimentación de los cinco mil

And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

10 Y cuando los apóstoles regresaron, dieron cuenta a Jesús de todo lo que habían hecho. Y El, tomándolos consigo, se retiró aparte a una ciudad llamada Betsaida.

And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

11 P ero cuando la gente se dio cuenta de esto, le siguió; y Jesús, recibiéndolos, les hablaba del reino de Dios, y sanaba a los que tenían necesidad de ser curados.

And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

12 E l día comenzaba a declinar, y acercándose los doce, le dijeron: Despide a la multitud, para que vayan a las aldeas y campos de los alrededores, y hallen alojamiento y consigan alimentos; porque aquí estamos en un lugar desierto.

And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

13 P ero El les dijo: Dadles vosotros de comer. Y ellos dijeron: No tenemos más que cinco panes y dos peces, a no ser que vayamos y compremos alimentos para toda esta gente.

But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

14 ( Porque había como cinco mil hombres.) Y Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: Haced que se recuesten en grupos como de cincuenta cada uno.

For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.

15 A sí lo hicieron, haciendo recostar a todos.

And they did so, and made them all sit down.

16 Y tomando los cinco panes y los dos peces, levantando los ojos al cielo, los bendijo, y los partió, y los iba dando a los discípulos para que los sirvieran a la gente.

Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

17 T odos comieron y se saciaron; y se recogieron de lo que les sobró de los pedazos: doce cestas llenas. La confesión de Pedro

And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

18 Y mientras Jesús oraba a solas, estaban con El los discípulos, y les preguntó, diciendo: ¿Quién dicen las multitudes que soy yo?

And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

19 E ntonces ellos respondieron, y dijeron: Unos, Juan el Bautista, otros, Elías, y otros, que algún profeta de los antiguos ha resucitado.

They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

20 Y El les dijo: Y vosotros ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y Pedro respondiendo, dijo: El Cristo de Dios.

He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

21 P ero El, advirtiéndoles severamente, les mandó que no dijeran esto a nadie,

And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;

22 d iciendo: El Hijo del Hombre debe padecer mucho, y ser rechazado por los ancianos, los principales sacerdotes y los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar al tercer día.

Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

23 Y decía a todos: Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz cada día y sígame.

And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

24 P orque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá, pero el que pierda su vida por causa de mí, ése la salvará.

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

25 P ues, ¿de qué le sirve a un hombre haber ganado el mundo entero, si él mismo se destruye o se pierde ?

For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

26 P orque el que se avergüence de mí y de mis palabras, de éste se avergonzará el Hijo del Hombre cuando venga en su gloria, y la del Padre, y la de los santos ángeles.

For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father's, and of the holy angels.

27 P ero en verdad os digo que hay algunos de los que están aquí, que no probarán la muerte hasta que vean el reino de Dios. La transfiguración

But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

28 Y como ocho días después de estas palabras, Jesús tomó consigo a Pedro, a Juan y a Jacobo, y subió al monte a orar.

And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

29 M ientras oraba, la apariencia de su rostro se hizo otra, y su ropa se hizo blanca y resplandeciente.

And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

30 Y he aquí, dos hombres hablaban con El, los cuales eran Moisés y Elías,

And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

31 q uienes apareciendo en gloria, hablaban de la partida de Jesús, que El estaba a punto de cumplir en Jerusalén.

Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

32 P edro y sus compañeros habían sido vencidos por el sueño, pero cuando estuvieron bien despiertos, vieron la gloria de Jesús y a los dos varones que estaban con El.

But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.

33 Y sucedió que al retirarse ellos de El, Pedro dijo a Jesús: Maestro, bueno es que estemos aquí; hagamos tres enramadas, una para ti, otra para Moisés y otra para Elías; no sabiendo lo que decía.

And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

34 E ntonces, mientras él decía esto, se formó una nube que los cubrió; y tuvieron temor al entrar en la nube.

While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

35 Y una voz salió de la nube, que decía: Este es mi Hijo, mi Escogido; a El oíd.

And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

36 D espués que la voz se oyó, Jesús fue hallado solo. Ellos se lo callaron, y por aquellos días no contaron a nadie nada de lo que habían visto. Jesús sana a un muchacho endemoniado

And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

37 Y aconteció que al día siguiente, cuando bajaron del monte, una gran multitud le salió al encuentro.

And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.

38 Y he aquí, un hombre de la multitud gritó, diciendo: Maestro, te suplico que veas a mi hijo, pues es el único que tengo,

And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.

39 y sucede que un espíritu se apodera de él, y de repente da gritos, y el espíritu le hace caer con convulsiones, echando espumarajos; y magullándole, a duras penas se aparta de él.

And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.

40 E ntonces rogué a tus discípulos que lo echaran fuera, y no pudieron.

And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

41 R espondiendo Jesús, dijo: ¡Oh generación incrédula y perversa! ¿Hasta cuándo he de estar con vosotros y os he de soportar? Trae acá a tu hijo.

And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

42 C uando éste se acercaba, el demonio lo derribó y lo hizo caer con convulsiones. Pero Jesús reprendió al espíritu inmundo, y sanó al muchacho y se lo devolvió a su padre.

And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

43 Y todos estaban admirados de la grandeza de Dios. Jesús anuncia otra vez su muerte Mientras todos se maravillaban de todas las cosas que hacía, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos:

And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,

44 H aced que estas palabras penetren en vuestros oídos, porque el Hijo del Hombre va a ser entregado en manos de los hombres.

Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

45 P ero ellos no entendían estas palabras, y les estaban veladas para que no las comprendieran; y temían preguntarle acerca de ellas. El mayor en el reino de los cielos

But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

46 Y se suscitó una discusión entre ellos, sobre quién de ellos sería el mayor.

Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

47 E ntonces Jesús, sabiendo lo que pensaban en sus corazones, tomó a un niño y lo puso a su lado,

And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

48 y les dijo: El que reciba a este niño en mi nombre, a mí me recibe; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe a aquel que me envió; porque el que es más pequeño entre todos vosotros, ése es grande.

And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

49 Y respondiendo Juan, dijo: Maestro, vimos a uno echando fuera demonios en tu nombre, y tratamos de impedírselo porque no anda con nosotros.

And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.

50 P ero Jesús le dijo: No se lo impidáis; porque el que no está contra vosotros, está con vosotros. Jesús reprende a Jacobo y a Juan

And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

51 Y sucedió que cuando se cumplían los días de su ascensión, El, con determinación, afirmó su rostro para ir a Jerusalén.

And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

52 Y envió mensajeros delante de El; y ellos fueron y entraron en una aldea de los samaritanos para hacerle preparativos.

And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.

53 P ero no le recibieron, porque sabían que había determinado ir a Jerusalén.

And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

54 A l ver esto, sus discípulos Jacobo y Juan, dijeron: Señor, ¿quieres que mandemos que descienda fuego del cielo y los consuma ?

And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

55 P ero El, volviéndose, los reprendió, y dijo: Vosotros no sabéis de qué espíritu sois,

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.

56 p orque el Hijo del Hombre no ha venido para destruir las almas de los hombres, sino para salvarlas. Y se fueron a otra aldea. Lo que demanda el discipulado

For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

57 Y mientras ellos iban por el camino, uno le dijo: Te seguiré adondequiera que vayas.

And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

58 Y Jesús le dijo: Las zorras tienen madrigueras y las aves del cielo nidos, pero el Hijo del Hombre no tiene dónde recostar la cabeza.

And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

59 A otro dijo: Sígueme. Pero él dijo: Señor, permíteme que vaya primero a enterrar a mi padre.

And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

60 M as El le dijo: Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos; pero tú, ve y anuncia por todas partes el reino de Dios.

Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

61 T ambién otro dijo: Te seguiré, Señor; pero primero permíteme despedirme de los de mi casa.

And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

62 P ero Jesús le dijo: Nadie, que después de poner la mano en el arado mira atrás, es apto para el reino de Dios.

And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
