Tu hai perdonato l'iniquità del tuo popolo e hai coperto tutti i loro peccati. (Sela)

3 T hou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.

Tu hai allontanato tutto il tuo sdegno e hai messo da parte la tua ardente ira.

4 T urn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.

Ristoraci, o DIO della nostra salvezza, e fa' cessare la tua indignazione contro di noi.

5 W ilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?

Rimarrai tu adirato con noi per sempre? Prolungherai la tua ira per ogni età?

6 W ilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?

Non ci darai nuovamente la vita, affinché il tuo popolo possa rallegrarsi in te?

7 S hew us thy mercy, O Lord, and grant us thy salvation.

Mostraci, o Eterno, la tua benignità e donaci la tua salvezza.

8 I will hear what God the Lord will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.

ascolterò ciò che DIO, l'Eterno dirà; certo egli parlerà di pace al suo popolo e ai suoi santi, ma non permetterà che essi ritornino a vivere da stolti.

9 S urely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.

Certo la sua salvezza è vicina a quelli che lo temono, perché la sua gloria possa abitare nel nostro paese.

10 M ercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

La benignità e la verità si sono incontrate; la giustizia e la pace si sono baciate.

11 T ruth shall spring out of the earth; and righteousness shall look down from heaven.

La verità germoglierà dalla terra e la giustizia guarderà dal cielo.

12 Y ea, the Lord shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.

Sí, l'Eterno darà ciò che è bene, e la nostra terra produrrà il suo frutto.

13 R ighteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.

La giustizia camminerà davanti a lui e preparerà la via ai suoi passi.
