1 S o when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.

2 A nd he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.

Egli radunò tutti i capi d'Israele assieme ai sacerdoti e ai Leviti.

3 N ow the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.

Si contarono i Leviti da trent'anni in su; e il numero degli individui maschi fu di trentottomila.

4 O f which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:

Di questi ventiquattromila furono preposti a dirigere il lavoro della casa dell'Eterno, seimila erano magistrati e giudici,

5 M oreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.

quattromila erano portinai e quattromila dovevano lodare l'Eterno con gli strumenti che Davide aveva fatto per celebrarlo.

6 A nd David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

Davide li divise in classi, secondo i figli di Levi: Ghershom, Kehath e Merari.

7 O f the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.

Dei Ghershoniti: Ladan e Scimei.

8 T he sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.

Figli di Ladan: Jeiel, il capo, Zetham e Joel; tre in tutto.

9 T he sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

10 A nd the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 A nd Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father's house.

13 T he sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.

14 N ow concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.

Quanto a Mosè, l'uomo di DIO, i suoi figli furono calcolati nella tribú di Levi.

15 T he sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.

I figli di Mosè furono Gershom e Eliezer.

16 O f the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.

Dei figli di Ghershom, Scebuel fu il capo.

17 A nd the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

Dei figli di Eliezer, Rehabiah fu il capo. Eliezer non ebbe altri figli, ma i figli di Rehabiah furono numerosissimi.

18 O f the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.

Dei figli di Itshar. Scelomith fu il capo.

19 O f the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.

Dei figli di Hebron Jerijah fu il capo, Amariah il secondo, Jahaziel il terzo e Jekameam il quarto.

20 O f the sons of Uzziel; Micah the first and Jesiah the second.

Dei figli di Uzziel, Mikah fu il capo e Ishshiah il secondo.

21 T he sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.

I figli di Merari furono Mahli e Musci. I figli di Mahli furono Eleazar e Kish.

22 A nd Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.

Eleazar morí e non ebbe figli, ma solo figlie le quali sposarono i figli di Kish, loro fratelli.

23 T he sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

I figli di Musci furono Mahli, Eder e Jeremoth; tre in tutto.

24 T hese were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.

Questi furono i figli di Levi secondo le loro case paterne, i capi delle case paterne secondo il censimento, fatto contando i nomi uno per uno. Essi erano incaricati del servizio della casa dell'Eterno dai vent'anni in su.

25 F or David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:

26 A nd also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.

27 F or by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:

Secondo le ultime disposizioni di Davide si fece il censimento dei figli di Levi dai vent'anni in su.

28 B ecause their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;

Poiché il loro compito era quello di aiutare i figli di Aaronne nel servizio della casa dell'Eterno nei cortili, nelle camere, nella purificazione di tutte le cose sacre, nel lavoro di servizio della casa di DIO.

29 B oth for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;

30 A nd to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even:

31 A nd to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:

e per offrire del continuo davanti all'Eterno tutti gli olocausti, secondo il numero che la legge imponeva loro nei sabati, nei noviluni e nelle feste solenni.

32 A nd that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.

Essi dovevano inoltre eseguire i compiti riguardanti la tenda di convegno e il santuario, e assistere i figli di Aaronne loro fratelli nel servizio della casa dell'Eterno.
