1 H e that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

«Chi è stato evirato mediante schiacciamento o mutilazione, non entrerà nell'assemblea dell'Eterno.

2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the Lord.

Un bastardo non entrerà nell'assemblea dell'Eterno; nessuno dei suoi discendenti, neppure alla decima generazione, entrerà nell'assemblea dell'Eterno.

3 A n Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the Lord; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the Lord for ever:

L'Ammonita e il Moabita non entreranno nell'assemblea dell'Eterno, nessuno dei loro discendenti, neppure alla decima generazione, entrerà mai nell'assemblea dell'Eterno,

4 B ecause they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when ye came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against thee Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse thee.

perché non vi vennero incontro con il pane e con l'acqua per strada quando usciste dall'Egitto, e perché assoldarono contro di te Balaam, figlio di Beor da Pethor in Mesopotamia, per maledirti.

5 N evertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.

Ciò nonostante l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, non volle ascoltare Balaam; ma l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, mutò per te la maledizione in benedizione, perché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti ama.

6 T hou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.

Non cercherai né la loro pace né la loro prosperità, finché tu viva, mai.

7 T hou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.

Non aborrirai l'Idumeo, perché egli è tuo fratello; non aborrirai l'Egiziano, perché fosti straniero nel suo paese;

8 T he children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the Lord in their third generation.

i figli che nasceranno loro potranno, alla terza generazione, entrare nell'assemblea dell'Eterno.

9 W hen the host goeth forth against thine enemies, then keep thee from every wicked thing.

Quando uscirai con l'esercito contro i tuoi nemici, guardati da ogni cosa malvagia.

10 I f there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chanceth him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

Se vi è qualcuno in mezzo a te che sia impuro a motivo di un evento notturno, uscirà dall'accampamento e non vi rientrerà;

11 B ut it shall be, when evening cometh on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.

sulla sera si laverà con acqua e dopo il tramonto del sole potrà rientrare nell'accampamento.

12 T hou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad:

Avrai pure un posto fuori dell'accampamento, e là andrai per i tuoi bisogni;

13 A nd thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee:

e fra i tuoi utensili avrai un piolo e, quando andrai ad accovacciarti fuori, con esso scaverai una buca e poi coprirai i tuoi escrementi.

14 F or the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.

Poiché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, cammina in mezzo al tuo accampamento per liberarti e per darti nelle mani i tuoi nemici; perciò il tuo accampamento sarà santo, perché l'Eterno non veda in mezzo a te alcuna indecenza e si ritiri da te.

15 T hou shalt not deliver unto his master the servant which is escaped from his master unto thee:

Non consegnerai al suo padrone lo schiavo che è scappato dal suo padrone per rifugiarsi da te.

16 H e shall dwell with thee, even among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of thy gates, where it liketh him best: thou shalt not oppress him.

Egli abiterà con te, in mezzo a voi, nel luogo che ha scelto, in quella delle tue città che gli parrà meglio; e non lo molesterai.

17 T here shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

Non vi sarà alcuna donna dedita alla prostituzione sacra tra le figlie d'Israele, né vi sarà alcun uomo dedito alla prostituzione sacra tra i figli d'Israele.

18 T hou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the Lord thy God for any vow: for even both these are abomination unto the Lord thy God.

Nella casa dell'Eterno, il tuo DIO, non porterai la mercede di una prostituta né il prezzo di un cane, per alcun voto, perché entrambe queste cose sono un abominio per l'Eterno, il tuo DIO.

19 T hou shalt not lend upon usury to thy brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent upon usury:

A tuo fratello non darai in prestito ad interesse: per denaro, interesse per cibo o per qualsiasi cosa che si presta a interesse.

20 U nto a stranger thou mayest lend upon usury; but unto thy brother thou shalt not lend upon usury: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all that thou settest thine hand to in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

Allo straniero potrai prestare a interesse, ma non a tuo fratello, affinché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, ti benedica in tutto ciò a cui porrai mano nel paese che stai per entrare ad occupare.

21 W hen thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

Quando fai un voto all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, non tarderai ad adempierlo, perché l'Eterno, il tuo DIO, te ne chiederà certamente conto e tu saresti colpevole;

22 B ut if thou shalt forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in thee.

ma se ti astieni dal far voti, non commetti peccato.

23 T hat which is gone out of thy lips thou shalt keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as thou hast vowed unto the Lord thy God, which thou hast promised with thy mouth.

Mantieni e compi la parola uscita dalle tue labbra, perché ti sei spontaneamente impegnato davanti all'Eterno, il tuo DIO, mediante ciò che hai promesso con la tua bocca.

24 W hen thou comest into thy neighbour's vineyard, then thou mayest eat grapes thy fill at thine own pleasure; but thou shalt not put any in thy vessel.

Quando entri nella vigna del tuo vicino, potrai a tuo piacere mangiar dell'uva a sazietà, ma non ne metterai nel tuo paniere.

25 W hen thou comest into the standing corn of thy neighbour, then thou mayest pluck the ears with thine hand; but thou shalt not move a sickle unto thy neighbour's standing corn.

Quando entri nel campo di grano del tuo vicino, potrai coglierne delle spighe con la mano; ma non userai la falce nel campo di grano del tuo vicino».
