1 A nd the Lord spake unto Moses in mount Sinai, saying,

L'Eterno parlò ancora a Mosè sul monte Sinai, dicendo:

2 S peak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land which I give you, then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the Lord.

«Parla ai figli d'Israele e di' loro: Quando entrerete nel paese che io vi do, la terra osserverà un sabato di riposo per l'Eterno.

3 S ix years thou shalt sow thy field, and six years thou shalt prune thy vineyard, and gather in the fruit thereof;

Per sei anni seminerai il tuo campo, per sei anni poterai la tua vigna e ne raccoglierai i frutti;

4 B ut in the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

ma il settimo anno sarà un sabato di riposo per la terra, un sabato in onore dell'Eterno; non seminerai il tuo campo ne poterai la tua vigna.

5 T hat which groweth of its own accord of thy harvest thou shalt not reap, neither gather the grapes of thy vine undressed: for it is a year of rest unto the land.

Non mieterai ciò che cresce spontaneamente del tuo raccolto e non vendemmierai l'uva della vigna che non hai potata; sarà un anno di riposo per la terra.

6 A nd the sabbath of the land shall be meat for you; for thee, and for thy servant, and for thy maid, and for thy hired servant, and for thy stranger that sojourneth with thee.

Ciò che la terra produrrà durante il suo riposo servirà di nutrimento: a te, al tuo servo, alla tua serva, al tuo operaio e al forestiero, a coloro cioè che risiedono con te

7 A nd for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.

al tuo bestiame e agli animali che sono nel tuo paese; tutto il suo prodotto servirà loro di nutrimento.

8 A nd thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.

Conterai pure per te sette sabati di anni: sette volte sette anni; queste sette settimane di anni faranno per te un periodo di quarantanove anni.

9 T hen shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.

Al decimo giorno del settimo mese farai squillare la tromba; nel giorno dell'espiazione farete squillare la tromba per tutto il paese.

10 A nd ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.

E santificherete il cinquantesimo anno e proclamerete la libertà nel paese per tutti i suoi abitanti. Sarà per voi un giubileo; ognuno di voi tornerà nella sua proprietà e ognuno di voi tornerà nella sua famiglia.

11 A jubile shall that fiftieth year be unto you: ye shall not sow, neither reap that which groweth of itself in it, nor gather the grapes in it of thy vine undressed.

Il cinquantesimo anno sarà per voi un giubileo; non seminerete e non raccoglierete ciò che cresce spontaneamente, e non vendemmierete le vigne non potate.

12 F or it is the jubile; it shall be holy unto you: ye shall eat the increase thereof out of the field.

Poiché è il giubileo; esso sarà sacro per voi; mangerete il prodotto che vi daranno i campi.

13 I n the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.

In quest'anno del giubileo ciascuno tornerà alle sue proprietà.

14 A nd if thou sell ought unto thy neighbour, or buyest ought of thy neighbour's hand, ye shall not oppress one another:

Se vendete qualcosa al vostro prossimo o se comprate qualcosa dal vostro prossimo, non farete alcun torto l'uno all'altro.

15 A ccording to the number of years after the jubile thou shalt buy of thy neighbour, and according unto the number of years of the fruits he shall sell unto thee:

Comprerai dal tuo vicino in base al numero di anni trascorsi dopo il giubileo, ed egli venderà a te in base al numero degli anni della raccolta.

16 A ccording to the multitude of years thou shalt increase the price thereof, and according to the fewness of years thou shalt diminish the price of it: for according to the number of the years of the fruits doth he sell unto thee.

Quanto più anni restano, tanto più alzerai il prezzo; quanto meno anni restano, tanto più abbasserai il prezzo; poiché egli ti vende in base al numero dei raccolti.

17 Y e shall not therefore oppress one another; but thou shalt fear thy God: for I am the Lord your God.

Nessuno di voi danneggi il suo vicino, ma temerai il tuo DIO; poiché io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO.

18 W herefore ye shall do my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them; and ye shall dwell in the land in safety.

Voi metterete in pratica i miei statuti, e osserverete i miei decreti e li adempirete; così abiterete il paese al sicuro.

19 A nd the land shall yield her fruit, and ye shall eat your fill, and dwell therein in safety.

La terra produrrà i suoi frutti e voi ne mangerete a sazietà, e abiterete in essa al sicuro.

20 A nd if ye shall say, What shall we eat the seventh year? behold, we shall not sow, nor gather in our increase:

Ma se dite: "Che cosa mangeremo il settimo anno, se non semineremo e non raccoglieremo i nostri prodotti?".

21 T hen I will command my blessing upon you in the sixth year, and it shall bring forth fruit for three years.

Io ho comandato che la mia benedizione venga su di voi il sesto anno, ed esso vi darà un raccolto che basterà per tre anni.

22 A nd ye shall sow the eighth year, and eat yet of old fruit until the ninth year; until her fruits come in ye shall eat of the old store.

Così nell'ottavo anno seminerete e mangerete del vecchio raccolto fino al nono anno; mangerete del vecchio raccolto finché venga il nuovo.

23 T he land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine, for ye are strangers and sojourners with me.

Le terre non si venderanno per sempre, perché la terra è mia; poiché voi siete forestieri e affittuari con me.

24 A nd in all the land of your possession ye shall grant a redemption for the land.

Perciò in tutto il paese di vostra proprietà, concederete il diritto di riscatto del suolo.

25 I f thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away some of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.

Se un tuo fratello diventa povero e vende una parte della sua proprietà, colui che ha il diritto di riscatto, il suo parente più stretto, verrà e riscatterà ciò che il suo fratello ha venduto.

26 A nd if the man have none to redeem it, and himself be able to redeem it;

E se uno non ha chi possa riscattare la sa proprietà, ma giunge a procurarsi da sé la somma necessaria al riscatto,

27 T hen let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto his possession.

conterà le annate trascorse e rifonderà al compratore l'importo degli anni che ancora rimangono, e rientrerà così nella sua proprietà.

28 B ut if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.

Ma se non è in grado di riscattare la sua proprietà, ciò che ha venduto rimarrà nelle mani del compratore fino all'anno del giubileo; al giubileo però sarà svincolata e ritornerà in suo possesso.

29 A nd if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he redeem it.

Se uno vende una casa per abitazione in una città murata, avrà il diritto di riscattarla per un intero anno dopo la sua vendita; il suo diritto di riscatto dura un anno intero.

30 A nd if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.

Ma se la casa posta nella città murata non è riscattata prima che sia trascorso un intero anno, rimarrà per sempre proprietà del compratore e dei suoi discendenti; non sarà svincolata al giubileo.

31 B ut the houses of the villages which have no wall round about them shall be counted as the fields of the country: they may be redeemed, and they shall go out in the jubile.

Invece le case dei villaggi non attorniati da mura saranno considerate come fondi rurali; possono essere riscattate e al giubileo saranno svincolate.

32 N otwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.

Quanto alle città dei Leviti, i Leviti potranno sempre riscattare le case delle città di loro proprietà.

33 A nd if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.

Se poi uno compra una casa dai Leviti, la casa venduta nella città di loro proprietà sarà svincolata nell'anno del giubileo, perché le case delle città dei Leviti sono loro proprietà, in mezzo ai figli d'Israele.

34 B ut the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it is their perpetual possession.

Ma i terreni da pascolo delle loro città non si possono vendere, perché sono loro proprietà perpetua.

35 A nd if thy brother be waxen poor, and fallen in decay with thee; then thou shalt relieve him: yea, though he be a stranger, or a sojourner; that he may live with thee.

Se un tuo fratello impoverisce e si trova nell'indigenza in mezzo a voi, tu lo sosterrai come un forestiero e un ospite perché possa vivere presso di te.

36 T ake thou no usury of him, or increase: but fear thy God; that thy brother may live with thee.

Non trarre da lui alcun interesse o utile; ma temi il tuo DIO, e il tuo fratello vivrà presso di te.

37 T hou shalt not give him thy money upon usury, nor lend him thy victuals for increase.

Non gli presterai il tuo denaro a interesse, né gli darai i tuoi viveri per ricavarne un utile.

38 I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, to give you the land of Canaan, and to be your God.

Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO, che vi ha fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto per darvi il paese di Canaan e per essere il vostro DIO.

39 A nd if thy brother that dwelleth by thee be waxen poor, and be sold unto thee; thou shalt not compel him to serve as a bondservant:

Se il tuo fratello che vive presso di te diviene povero e si vende a te, non l'obbligherai a servire come uno schiavo;

40 B ut as an hired servant, and as a sojourner, he shall be with thee, and shall serve thee unto the year of jubile.

ma starà da te come un bracciante e come un ospite; ti servirà fino all'anno del giubileo.

41 A nd then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.

Allora se ne andrà da te, lui e i suoi figli, e tornerà nella sua famiglia; così rientrerà nella proprietà dei suoi padri.

42 F or they are my servants, which I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: they shall not be sold as bondmen.

Poiché essi sono miei servi, che io ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto; non devono quindi essere venduti come si vendono gli schiavi.

43 T hou shalt not rule over him with rigour; but shalt fear thy God.

Non lo dominerai con asprezza, ma temerai il tuo DIO.

44 B oth thy bondmen, and thy bondmaids, which thou shalt have, shall be of the heathen that are round about you; of them shall ye buy bondmen and bondmaids.

Quanto allo schiavo e alla schiava che puoi avere, li prenderai dalle nazioni che vi circondano; da queste comprerete lo schiavo e la schiava.

45 M oreover of the children of the strangers that do sojourn among you, of them shall ye buy, and of their families that are with you, which they begat in your land: and they shall be your possession.

Inoltre potrete comprare schiavi tra i figli degli stranieri che vivono tra di voi e tra le loro famiglie che si trovano fra di voi e che hanno generato nel vostro paese; essi saranno vostra proprietà.

46 A nd ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them for a possession; they shall be your bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.

E li potrete lasciare in eredità ai vostri figli dopo di voi, come loro proprietà; vi potrete servire di loro come schiavi per sempre; ma quanto ai vostri fratelli, i figli d'Israele, nessuno dominerà sull'altro con asprezza.

47 A nd if a sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger's family:

Se un forestiero che vive presso di te arricchisce e un tuo fratello che vive presso di lui impoverisce, e si vende al forestiero o all'ospite che è presso di te, o a qualcuno della famiglia del forestiero,

48 A fter that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of his brethren may redeem him:

dopo che si è venduto, può essere nuovamente riscattato; lo potrà riscattare uno dei suoi fratelli.

49 E ither his uncle, or his uncle's son, may redeem him, or any that is nigh of kin unto him of his family may redeem him; or if he be able, he may redeem himself.

Lo potrà riscattare suo zio, o il figlio di suo zio; lo potrà riscattare un parente del suo stesso sangue; o se ne ha i mezzi, potrà riscattarsi da sé.

50 A nd he shall reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an hired servant shall it be with him.

Farà il conto col suo compratore, dall'anno che si è venduto a lui all'anno del giubileo; e il prezzo da pagare sarà calcolato in base al numero degli anni, valutando le sue giornate come quelle di un bracciante.

51 I f there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.

Se vi sono ancora molti anni, pagherà il suo riscatto in base al loro numero e al prezzo col quale fu comprato;

52 A nd if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto his years shall he give him again the price of his redemption.

se rimangono invece solo pochi anni per arrivare al giubileo, farà il conto col suo compratore e pagherà il prezzo del suo riscatto in base ai pochi anni rimasti.

53 A nd as a yearly hired servant shall he be with him: and the other shall not rule with rigour over him in thy sight.

Come bracciante rimanga con il padrone un anno dopo l'altro, il quale non lo dominerà con asprezza sotto i tuoi occhi.

54 A nd if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.

E se non è riscattato in alcuno di questi modi, sarà lasciato libero nell'anno del giubileo, lui e i suoi figli.

55 F or unto me the children of Israel are servants; they are my servants whom I brought forth out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.

Poiché i figli d'Israele sono servi miei; sono miei servi, che ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto. Io sono l'Eterno, il vostro DIO».
