1 J esus answered and spoke again in parables to them, saying,

Tomando Jesús la palabra, les volvió a hablar en parábolas, diciendo:

2 “ The Kingdom of Heaven is like a certain king, who made a marriage feast for his son,

El reino de los cielos es semejante a un rey que preparó un banquete de bodas para su hijo;

3 a nd sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the marriage feast, but they would not come.

y envió a sus siervos a llamar a los convidados a las bodas; mas éstos no quisieron venir.

4 A gain he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “Behold, I have prepared my dinner. My cattle and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the marriage feast!”’

Volvió a enviar otros siervos, diciendo: Decid a los invitados: Mirad, ya he preparado mi banquete; mis toros y mis animales engordados han sido matados, y todo está a punto; venid a las bodas.

5 B ut they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his merchandise,

Mas ellos, sin hacer caso, se fueron, uno a su labranza, otro a sus negocios;

6 a nd the rest grabbed his servants, and treated them shamefully, and killed them.

y otros, echando mano a los siervos, los maltrataron y los mataron.

7 W hen the king heard that, he was angry, and sent his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city.

Al oírlo el rey, se enojó; y enviando sus ejércitos, destruyó a aquellos homicidas, y quemó su ciudad.

8 “ Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited weren’t worthy.

Después dijo a sus siervos: El banquete está a punto; mas los que fueron invitados no eran dignos.

9 G o therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the marriage feast.’

Id, pues, a las encrucijadas de los caminos, y llamad a las bodas a cuantos halléis.

10 T hose servants went out into the highways, and gathered together as many as they found, both bad and good. The wedding was filled with guests.

Y saliendo los siervos por los caminos, juntaron a todos los que hallaron, tanto malos como buenos; y el salón de bodas se llenó de convidados.

11 B ut when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man who didn’t have on wedding clothing,

Y al entrar el rey para ver a los convidados, vio allí a un hombre que no estaba vestido con traje de boda.

12 a nd he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here not wearing wedding clothing?’ He was speechless.

Y le dijo: Amigo, ¿cómo entraste aquí, sin estar vestido con traje de boda? Mas él enmudeció.

13 T hen the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and throw him into the outer darkness; there is where the weeping and grinding of teeth will be.’

Entonces el rey dijo a los sirvientes: Atadle de pies y manos, y echadle a las tinieblas de afuera; allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes.

14 F or many are called, but few chosen.”

Porque muchos son llamados, y pocos escogidos. La cuestión del tributo

15 T hen the Pharisees went and took counsel how they might entrap him in his talk.

Entonces se fueron los fariseos a deliberar cómo tenderle una trampa y sorprenderle en alguna palabra.

16 T hey sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are honest, and teach the way of God in truth, no matter whom you teach, for you aren’t partial to anyone.

Y le enviaron los discípulos de ellos con los herodianos, diciendo: Maestro, sabemos que eres veraz, y que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios, y que no te da cuidado de nadie, porque no miras la apariencia de los hombres.

17 T ell us therefore, what do you think? Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?”

Dinos, pues, qué te parece: ¿Es lícito dar tributo a César, o no?

18 B ut Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, “Why do you test me, you hypocrites?

Pero Jesús, conociendo la malicia de ellos, les dijo: ¿Por qué me tentáis, hipócritas?

19 S how me the tax money.” They brought to him a denarius.

Mostradme la moneda del tributo. Y ellos le presentaron un denario.

20 H e asked them, “Whose is this image and inscription?”

Entonces les dijo: ¿De quién es esta imagen, y la inscripción?

21 T hey said to him, “Caesar’s.” Then he said to them, “Give therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

Le dijeron: De César. Y les dijo: Dad, pues, a César lo que es de César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.

22 W hen they heard it, they marveled, and left him, and went away.

Oyendo esto, se quedaron asombrados, y dejándole, se fueron. La pregunta sobre la resurrección

23 O n that day Sadducees (those who say that there is no resurrection) came to him. They asked him,

Aquel día se le acercaron los saduceos, que dicen que no hay resurrección, y le preguntaron,

24 s aying, “Teacher, Moses said, ‘If a man dies, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up offspring for his brother.’

diciendo: Maestro, Moisés dijo: Si alguno muere sin hijos, su hermano se casará con su mujer, y levantará descendencia a su hermano.

25 N ow there were with us seven brothers. The first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother.

Ahora bien, había entre nosotros siete hermanos; el primero se casó, y murió; y no teniendo descendencia, dejó su mujer a su hermano.

26 I n the same way, the second also, and the third, to the seventh.

De la misma manera también el segundo, y el tercero, hasta el séptimo.

27 A fter them all, the woman died.

Y después de todos, murió también la mujer.

28 I n the resurrection therefore, whose wife will she be of the seven? For they all had her.”

En la resurrección, pues, ¿de cuál de los siete será ella mujer, ya que todos la tuvieron?

29 B ut Jesus answered them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures, nor the power of God.

Entonces, respondiendo Jesús, les dijo: Estáis en un error, por no saber las Escrituras ni el poder de Dios.

30 F or in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are like God’s angels in heaven.

Porque en la resurrección no se casan ni son dadas en matrimonio, sino que son como los ángeles de Dios en el cielo.

31 B ut concerning the resurrection of the dead, haven’t you read that which was spoken to you by God, saying,

Pero en cuanto a la resurrección de los muertos, ¿no habéis leído lo que os fue dicho por Dios, cuando dijo:

32 ‘ I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?’ God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”

Yo soy el Dios de Abraham, el Dios de Isaac y el Dios de Jacob? Dios no es un Dios de muertos, sino de vivos.

33 W hen the multitudes heard it, they were astonished at his teaching.

Oyendo esto la gente, se admiraba de su doctrina. El principal mandamiento

34 B ut the Pharisees, when they heard that he had silenced the Sadducees, gathered themselves together.

Entonces los fariseos, oyendo que había hecho callar a los saduceos, se reunieron de común acuerdo.

35 O ne of them, a lawyer, asked him a question, testing him.

Y uno de ellos, intérprete de la ley, preguntó por tentarlo, diciendo:

36 “ Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the law?”

Maestro, ¿cuál es el gran mandamiento en la ley?

37 J esus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Jesús le dijo: Amarás al Señor tu Dios con todo tu corazón, con toda tu alma, y con toda tu mente.

38 T his is the first and great commandment.

Éste es el primero y gran mandamiento.

39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

Y el segundo es semejante: Amarás a tu prójimo como a ti mismo.

40 T he whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”

De estos dos mandamientos dependen toda la ley y los profetas. ¿De quién es hijo el Cristo?

41 N ow while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question,

Y estando reunidos los fariseos, les preguntó Jesús,

42 s aying, “What do you think of the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “Of David.”

diciendo: ¿Qué opináis del Cristo? ¿De quién es hijo? Le dijeron: De David.

43 H e said to them, “How then does David in the Spirit call him Lord, saying,

Él les dijo: ¿Pues cómo David en el Espíritu le llama Señor, diciendo:

44 ‘ The Lord said to my Lord, sit on my right hand, until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet?’

Dijo el Señor a mi Señor: Siéntate a mi derecha, Hasta que ponga a tus enemigos por estrado de tus pies?

45 “ If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?”

Pues si David le llama Señor, ¿cómo es hijo suyo?

46 N o one was able to answer him a word, neither did any man dare ask him any more questions from that day forward.

Y nadie le podía responder palabra; y nadie se atrevió desde aquel día a preguntarle más.
