1 H e also spoke a parable to them that they must always pray, and not give up,

También les refería Jesús una parábola sobre la necesidad de orar siempre, y no desmayar,

2 s aying, “There was a judge in a certain city who didn’t fear God, and didn’t respect man.

diciendo: Había en una ciudad un juez, que ni temía a Dios, ni respetaba a hombre.

3 A widow was in that city, and she often came to him, saying, ‘Defend me from my adversary!’

Había también en aquella ciudad una viuda, la cual venía a él, diciendo: Hazme justicia de mi adversario.

4 H e wouldn’t for a while, but afterward he said to himself, ‘Though I neither fear God, nor respect man,

Y él no quiso por algún tiempo; pero después de esto dijo dentro de sí: Aunque ni temo a Dios, ni tengo respeto a hombre,

5 y et because this widow bothers me, I will defend her, or else she will wear me out by her continual coming.’”

sin embargo, porque esta viuda me es molesta, le haré justicia, no sea que viniendo de continuo, me agote la paciencia.

6 T he Lord said, “Listen to what the unrighteous judge says.

Y dijo el Señor: Oíd lo que dijo el juez injusto.

7 W on’t God avenge his chosen ones, who are crying out to him day and night, and yet he exercises patience with them?

¿Y acaso Dios no hará justicia a sus escogidos, que claman a él día y noche? ¿Y está esperando con longanimidad en cuanto a ellos?

8 I tell you that he will avenge them quickly. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”

Os digo que pronto les hará justicia. Pero cuando venga el Hijo del Hombre, ¿hallará fe en la tierra? Parábola del fariseo y el publicano

9 H e spoke also this parable to certain people who were convinced of their own righteousness, and who despised all others.

A unos que confiaban en sí mismos como justos, y menospreciaban a los demás, dijo también esta parábola:

10 “ Two men went up into the temple to pray; one was a Pharisee, and the other was a tax collector.

Dos hombres subieron al templo a orar: uno era fariseo, y el otro cobrador de impuestos.

11 T he Pharisee stood and prayed to himself like this: ‘God, I thank you, that I am not like the rest of men, extortionists, unrighteous, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.

El fariseo, puesto en pie, oraba consigo mismo de esta manera: Dios, te doy gracias porque no soy como los demás hombres, ladrones, injustos, adúlteros, ni tampoco como ese cobrador de impuestos;

12 I fast twice a week. I give tithes of all that I get.’

ayuno dos veces a la semana, doy diezmos de todo lo que gano.

13 B ut the tax collector, standing far away, wouldn’t even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’

Mas el cobrador de impuestos, de pie y a bastante distancia, no quería ni aun alzar los ojos al cielo, sino que se golpeaba el pecho, diciendo: Dios, sé propicio a mí, pecador.

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

Os digo que éste descendió a su casa justificado más bien que aquél; porque cualquiera que se enaltece, será humillado; y el que se humilla será enaltecido. Jesucristo bendice a los niños

15 T hey were also bringing their babies to him, that he might touch them. But when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them.

Traían a él hasta los niños de pecho para que los tocase; pero al verlo los discípulos, les reprendieron.

16 J esus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these.

Mas Jesús, llamándolos, dijo: Dejad a los niños venir a mí, y no se lo impidáis; porque de los tales es el reino de Dios.

17 M ost certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

De cierto os digo, que el que no reciba el reino de Dios como un niño, no entrará en él. El joven rico

18 A certain ruler asked him, saying, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”

Un hombre principal le preguntó, diciendo: Maestro bueno, ¿qué haré para heredar la vida eterna?

19 J esus asked him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good, except one—God.

Jesús le dijo: ¿Por qué me llamas bueno? Ninguno hay bueno, sino sólo Dios.

20 Y ou know the commandments: ‘Don’t commit adultery,’ ‘Don’t murder,’ ‘Don’t steal,’ ‘Don’t give false testimony,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’”

Los mandamientos sabes: No cometas adulterio; no mates; no hurtes; no digas falso testimonio; honra a tu padre y a tu madre.

21 H e said, “I have observed all these things from my youth up.”

Él dijo: Todo esto lo he guardado desde mi juventud.

22 W hen Jesus heard these things, he said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have, and distribute it to the poor. You will have treasure in heaven. Come, follow me.”

Jesús, oyendo esto, le dijo: Aún te falta una cosa: vende todo lo que tienes, y repártelo entre los pobres, y tendrás tesoro en el cielo; y ven, sígueme.

23 B ut when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was very rich.

Entonces él, oyendo esto, se puso muy triste, porque era sumamente rico.

24 J esus, seeing that he became very sad, said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter into God’s Kingdom!

Al ver Jesús que se había entristecido mucho, dijo: ¡Cuán difícilmente entrarán en el reino de Dios los que tienen riquezas!

25 F or it is easier for a camel to enter in through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into God’s Kingdom.”

Porque es más fácil que un camello entre por el ojo de una aguja, que el que un rico entre en el reino de Dios.

26 T hose who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?”

Y los que oyeron esto dijeron: Entonces, ¿quién puede ser salvo?

27 B ut he said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”

Él les dijo: Lo que es imposible para los hombres, es posible para Dios.

28 P eter said, “Look, we have left everything, and followed you.”

Entonces Pedro dijo: He aquí que nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido.

29 H e said to them, “Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house, or wife, or brothers, or parents, or children, for God’s Kingdom’s sake,

Y él les dijo: De cierto os digo, que no hay nadie que haya dejado casa, o padres, o hermanos, o mujer, o hijos, por el reino de Dios,

30 w ho will not receive many times more in this time, and in the world to come, eternal life.”

que no haya de recibir mucho más en este tiempo, y en el siglo venidero la vida eterna. Nuevamente Jesucristo anuncia su muerte

31 H e took the twelve aside, and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all the things that are written through the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be completed.

Tomando Jesús a los doce, les dijo: He aquí que subimos a Jerusalén, y se cumplirán todas las cosas escritas por los profetas acerca del Hijo del Hombre.

32 F or he will be delivered up to the Gentiles, will be mocked, treated shamefully, and spit on.

Pues será entregado a los gentiles, y será escarnecido, y afrentado, y escupido.

33 T hey will scourge and kill him. On the third day, he will rise again.”

Y después que le hayan azotado, le matarán; mas al tercer día resucitará.

34 T hey understood none of these things. This saying was hidden from them, and they didn’t understand the things that were said.

Pero ellos nada comprendieron de estas cosas, y estas palabras les quedaban ocultas, y no entendían lo que se les decía. Un ciego de Jericó recibe la vista

35 A s he came near Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the road, begging.

Aconteció que al acercarse Jesús a Jericó, un ciego estaba sentado junto al camino, mendigando;

36 H earing a multitude going by, he asked what this meant.

y al oír pasar a una multitud, preguntó qué era aquello.

37 T hey told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by.

Y le dijeron que pasaba Jesús nazareno.

38 H e cried out, “Jesus, you son of David, have mercy on me!”

Entonces dio voces, diciendo: ¡Jesús, Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí!

39 T hose who led the way rebuked him, that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “You son of David, have mercy on me!”

Y los que iban delante le increpaban para que callase; pero él clamaba mucho más: ¡Hijo de David, ten compasión de mí!

40 S tanding still, Jesus commanded him to be brought to him. When he had come near, he asked him,

Jesús entonces, deteniéndose, mandó traerle a su presencia; y cuando llegó, le preguntó,

41 “ What do you want me to do?” He said, “Lord, that I may see again.”

diciendo: ¿Qué quieres que te haga? Y él dijo: Señor, que recobre la vista.

42 J esus said to him, “Receive your sight. Your faith has healed you.”

Jesús le dijo: Recóbrala, tu fe te ha salvado.

43 I mmediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God. All the people, when they saw it, praised God.

Y al instante recobró la vista, y le seguía, glorificando a Dios; y todo el pueblo, cuando vio aquello, dio alabanza a Dios.
