1 N ow you shall gather yourself in troops, daughter of troops. He has laid siege against us. They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

Rodéate ahora de muros, hija de guerreros; nos han sitiado; con vara hieren en la mejilla al juez de Israel.

2 B ut you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, being small among the clans of Judah, out of you one will come out to me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings out are from of old, from ancient times.

Pero tú, Belén Efrata, aunque eres pequeña para ser contada entre las familias de Judá, de ti me saldrá el que será Señor en Israel; y sus orígenes son desde el principio, desde los días de la eternidad.

3 T herefore he will abandon them until the time that she who is in labor gives birth. Then the rest of his brothers will return to the children of Israel.

Pero los dejará hasta el tiempo que dé a luz la que ha de dar a luz; y el resto de sus hermanos se volverá a los hijos de Israel.

4 H e shall stand, and shall shepherd in the strength of Yahweh, in the majesty of the name of Yahweh his God: and they will live, for then he will be great to the ends of the earth.

Y él estará firme, y apacentará con poder de Jehová, con grandeza del nombre de Jehová su Dios; y morarán seguros, porque entonces será engrandecido hasta los fines de la tierra.

5 H e will be our peace when Assyria invades our land, and when he marches through our fortresses, then we will raise against him seven shepherds, and eight leaders of men.

Y éste será nuestra paz. Cuando el asirio invada nuestra tierra, para hollar nuestros palacios, entonces levantaremos contra él siete pastores, y ocho hombres principales;

6 T hey will rule the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in its gates. He will deliver us from the Assyrian, when he invades our land, and when he marches within our border.

y devastarán la tierra de Asiria a espada, y con sus espadas la tierra de Nimrod; y nos librará del asirio, cuando venga contra nuestra tierra a hollar nuestras fronteras.

7 T he remnant of Jacob will be among many peoples, like dew from Yahweh, like showers on the grass, that don’t wait for man, nor wait for the sons of men.

El remanente de Jacob será en medio de muchos pueblos como el rocío de Jehová, como las lluvias sobre la hierba, las cuales no se esperan de varón, ni se aguardan de manos de hijos de hombres.

8 T he remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, among many peoples, like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep; who, if he goes through, treads down and tears in pieces, and there is no one to deliver.

Asimismo el remanente de Jacob será entre las naciones, en medio de muchos pueblos, como el león entre las bestias de la selva, como el cachorro del león entre las manadas de las ovejas, el cual si pasa, huella y arrebata, y no hay quien libre.

9 L et your hand be lifted up above your adversaries, and let all of your enemies be cut off.

Tu mano se alzará sobre tus enemigos, y todos tus adversarios serán destruidos.

10 “ It will happen in that day”, says Yahweh, “that I will cut off your horses out from among you, and will destroy your chariots.

Acontecerá en aquel día, dice Jehová, que haré matar tus caballos de en medio de ti, y haré destruir tus carros.

11 I will cut off the cities of your land, and will tear down all your strongholds.

Haré también destruir las ciudades de tu tierra, y arruinaré todas tus fortalezas.

12 I will destroy witchcraft from your hand; and you shall have no soothsayers.

Asimismo destruiré de tu mano las hechicerías, y no se hallarán en ti más agoreros.

13 I will cut off your engraved images and your pillars out from among you; and you shall no more worship the work of your hands.

Y haré destruir tus esculturas y tus imágenes de en medio de ti, y nunca más te inclinarás a la obra de tus manos.

14 I will uproot your Asherah poles out from among you; and I will destroy your cities.

Arrancaré tus imágenes de Aserá de en medio de ti, y destruiré tus enemigos;

15 I will execute vengeance in anger, and wrath on the nations that didn’t listen.”

y con ira y con furor haré venganza en las naciones, porque no prestaron oídos.
