1 S aul spoke to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should kill David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, greatly delighted in David.

Habló Saúl a Jonatán su hijo, y a todos sus siervos, para que matasen a David; pero Jonatán hijo de Saúl amaba a David en gran manera,

2 J onathan told David, saying, “Saul my father seeks to kill you. Now therefore, please take care of yourself in the morning, and live in a secret place, and hide yourself.

y dio aviso a David, diciendo: Saúl mi padre procura matarte; por tanto, cuídate mañana, retírate a un lugar oculto y escóndete.

3 I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where you are, and I will talk with my father about you; and if I see anything, I will tell you.”

Y yo saldré y estaré junto a mi padre en el campo donde estés; y hablaré de ti a mi padre, y te haré saber lo que haya.

4 J onathan spoke good of David to Saul his father, and said to him, “Don’t let the king sin against his servant, against David; because he has not sinned against you, and because his works have been very good toward you;

Y Jonatán habló bien de David a Saúl su padre, y le dijo: No peque el rey contra su siervo David, porque ninguna cosa ha cometido contra ti, sino que sus obras han sido muy buenas para contigo;

5 f or he put his life in his hand, and struck the Philistine, and Yahweh worked a great victory for all Israel. You saw it, and rejoiced. Why then will you sin against innocent blood, to kill David without a cause?”

pues puso su vida en peligro cuando mató al filisteo, y Jehová dio gran salvación a todo Israel. Tú lo viste, y te alegraste; ¿por qué, pues, pecarás contra la sangre inocente, matando a David sin causa?

6 S aul listened to the voice of Jonathan: and Saul swore, “As Yahweh lives, he shall not be put to death.”

Y escuchó Saúl la voz de Jonatán, y juró Saúl: Vive Jehová, que no morirá.

7 J onathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. Then Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as before.

Y llamó Jonatán a David, y le declaró todas estas palabras; y él mismo trajo a David a Saúl, y estuvo delante de él como antes.

8 T here was war again. David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and killed them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.

Reanudada la guerra, partió David para combatir a los filisteos, les infligió una gran derrota y huyeron delante de él.

9 A n evil spirit from Yahweh was on Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.

Y el espíritu malo de parte de Jehová vino sobre Saúl; y estando sentado en su casa tenía una lanza a mano, mientras David estaba tocando.

10 S aul sought to pin David to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he stuck the spear into the wall. David fled, and escaped that night.

Y Saúl procuró enclavar a David con la lanza en la pared, pero él se apartó de delante de Saúl, el cual clavó la lanza en la pared; y David huyó, y escapó aquella noche. David salvado por Mical

11 S aul sent messengers to David’s house, to watch him, and to kill him in the morning. Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, “If you don’t save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed.”

Saúl envió luego mensajeros a casa de David para que lo vigilasen, y lo matasen a la mañana. Pero Mical su mujer avisó a David, diciendo: Si no salvas tu vida esta noche, mañana serás muerto.

12 S o Michal let David down through the window. He went away, fled, and escaped.

Y descolgó Mical a David por una ventana; y él se fue y huyó, y escapó.

13 M ichal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ hair at its head, and covered it with clothes.

Tomó luego Mical una estatua, y la puso sobre la cama, y le acomodó una estera de pelo de cabra sobre la almohada, y la cubrió con la ropa.

14 W hen Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, “He is sick.”

Y cuando Saúl envió mensajeros para prender a David, ella respondió: Está enfermo.

15 S aul sent the messengers to see David, saying, “Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may kill him.”

Pero Saúl volvió a enviar los emisarios para que viesen a David, diciendo: Traédmelo en la cama para que lo mate.

16 W hen the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ hair at its head.

Y cuando los mensajeros entraron, he aquí la estatua estaba en la cama, y la estera de pelo de cabra a su cabecera.

17 S aul said to Michal, “Why have you deceived me thus, and let my enemy go, so that he is escaped?” Michal answered Saul, “He said to me, ‘Let me go! Why should I kill you?’”

Entonces Saúl dijo a Mical: ¿Por qué me has engañado así, y has dejado escapar a mi enemigo? Y Mical respondió a Saúl: Porque él me dijo: Déjame escapar o te mato. Saúl y David con Samuel

18 N ow David fled and escaped, and came to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. He and Samuel went and lived in Naioth.

Huyó, pues, David, y se puso a salvo viniendo a Samuel en Ramá, y le dijo todo lo que Saúl había hecho con él. Y él y Samuel se fueron y moraron en Nayot.

19 S aul was told, saying, “Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.”

Y fue dado aviso a Saúl, diciendo: He aquí que David está en Nayot en Ramá.

20 S aul sent messengers to seize David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, God’s Spirit came on Saul’s messengers, and they also prophesied.

Entonces Saúl envió mensajeros para que trajeran a David, los cuales vieron una compañía de profetas que profetizaban, y a Samuel que estaba allí y los presidía. Y vino el Espíritu de Dios sobre los mensajeros de Saúl, y ellos también profetizaron.

21 W hen Saul was told, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.

Cuando lo supo Saúl, envió otros mensajeros, los cuales también profetizaron. Y Saúl volvió a enviar mensajeros por tercera vez, y ellos también profetizaron.

22 T hen he also went to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked, “Where are Samuel and David?” One said, “Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.”

Entonces él mismo fue a Ramá; y llegando al gran pozo que está en Secú, preguntó diciendo: ¿Dónde están Samuel y David? Y uno respondió: He aquí que están en Nayot en Ramá.

23 H e went there to Naioth in Ramah. Then God’s Spirit came on him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.

Y fue a Nayot en Ramá; y también vino sobre él el Espíritu de Dios, iba caminando profetizando hasta que llegó a Nayot en Ramá.

24 H e also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Therefore they say, “Is Saul also among the prophets?”

Y él también se despojó de sus vestidos, y profetizó también delante de Samuel, y quedó desnudo en tierra todo aquel día y toda aquella noche. De aquí se dijo: ¿Conque también Saúl entre los profetas?
