1 N ow on the second Sabbath after the first, he was going through the grain fields. His disciples plucked the heads of grain and ate, rubbing them in their hands.

Aconteció un sábado que, pasando Jesús a través de unos sembrados, sus discípulos arrancaban espigas y comían, restregándolas con las manos.

2 B ut some of the Pharisees said to them, “Why do you do that which is not lawful to do on the Sabbath day?”

Algunos de los fariseos les dijeron: ¿Por qué hacéis lo que no es lícito en los sábados?

3 J esus, answering them, said, “Haven’t you read what David did when he was hungry, he, and those who were with him;

Jesús, respondiéndoles, dijo: ¿Ni siquiera habéis leído lo que hizo David cuando tuvo hambre él, y los que estaban con él;

4 h ow he entered into God’s house, and took and ate the show bread, and gave also to those who were with him, which is not lawful to eat except for the priests alone?”

cómo entró en la casa de Dios, y tomó los panes de la proposición, que no es lícito comer sino sólo a los sacerdotes, y comió, y dio también a los que estaban con él?

5 H e said to them, “The Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”

Y les decía: El Hijo del Hombre es dueño hasta del sábado. El hombre de la mano atrofiada

6 I t also happened on another Sabbath that he entered into the synagogue and taught. There was a man there, and his right hand was withered.

Aconteció también en otro sábado que entró él en la sinagoga, y se puso a enseñar; y había allí un hombre que tenía atrofiada la mano derecha.

7 T he scribes and the Pharisees watched him, to see whether he would heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an accusation against him.

Los escribas y los fariseos le acechaban por si se ponía a sanar en sábado, a fin de hallar de qué acusarle.

8 B ut he knew their thoughts; and he said to the man who had the withered hand, “Rise up, and stand in the middle.” He arose and stood.

Pero él sabía los pensamientos de ellos, y le dijo al hombre que tenía la mano atrofiada: Levántate, y ponte en medio. Él se levantó y se puso allí.

9 T hen Jesus said to them, “I will ask you something: Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good, or to do harm? To save a life, or to kill?”

Entonces Jesús les dijo: Voy a haceros una pregunta: ¿Es lícito en sábado hacer el bien, o hacer el mal?, ¿salvar una vida, o destruirla?

10 H e looked around at them all, and said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He did, and his hand was restored as sound as the other.

Y después de pasear su mirada sobre todos ellos, le dijo al hombre: Extiende tu mano. Él lo hizo así, y su mano quedó enteramente restablecida.

11 B ut they were filled with rage, and talked with one another about what they might do to Jesus.

Pero ellos se llenaron de furor y discutían entre ellos qué podrían hacerle a Jesús. Elección de los doce apóstoles

12 I n these days, he went out to the mountain to pray, and he continued all night in prayer to God.

Aconteció en aquellos días que él salió al monte a orar, y pasó la noche entera en oración a Dios.

13 W hen it was day, he called his disciples, and from them he chose twelve, whom he also named apostles:

Y cuando se hizo de día, convocó a sus discípulos y escogió de entre ellos doce, a quienes puso también el nombre de apóstoles:

14 S imon, whom he also named Peter; Andrew, his brother; James; John; Philip; Bartholomew;

Simón, a quien también puso por nombre Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo y Juan; Felipe y Bartolomé;

15 M atthew; Thomas; James, the son of Alphaeus; Simon, who was called the Zealot;

Mateo y Tomás; Jacobo el hijo de Alfeo, y Simón el llamado Zelote;

16 J udas the son of James; and Judas Iscariot, who also became a traitor.

Judas el hermano de Jacobo, y Judas Iscariote, que llegó a ser un traidor. Jesucristo atiende a una multitud

17 H e came down with them, and stood on a level place, with a crowd of his disciples, and a great number of the people from all Judea and Jerusalem, and the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him and to be healed of their diseases;

Descendió con ellos y se detuvo en un lugar llano; había un gran grupo de discípulos suyos, y una gran multitud de la gente de todas partes de Judea, de Jerusalén, y de la región costera de Tiro y de Sidón, que habían venido a escucharle, y a ser sanados de sus enfermedades;

18 a s well as those who were troubled by unclean spirits, and they were being healed.

y los que estaban atormentados por espíritus inmundos, eran sanados.

19 A ll the multitude sought to touch him, for power came out of him and healed them all.

Y toda la gente trataba de tocarle, porque salía de él un poder y los sanaba a todos. Bienaventuranzas y ayes

20 H e lifted up his eyes to his disciples, and said, “Blessed are you who are poor, God’s Kingdom is yours.

Y él, alzando los ojos hacia sus discípulos, decía: Bienaventurados vosotros los pobres, porque vuestro es el reino de Dios.

21 B lessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

Bienaventurados los que ahora pasáis hambre, porque seréis satisfechos. Bienaventurados los que ahora lloráis, porque reiréis.

22 B lessed are you when men shall hate you, and when they shall exclude and mock you, and throw out your name as evil, for the Son of Man’s sake.

Bienaventurados sois cuando os odien los hombres, cuando os aparten de sí, os injurien y desechen vuestro nombre como malo, por causa del Hijo del Hombre.

23 R ejoice in that day, and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven, for their fathers did the same thing to the prophets.

Regocijaos en aquel día, y saltad de gozo, porque he aquí que vuestra recompensa es grande en el cielo, pues de la misma manera hacían sus padres con los profetas.

24 “ But woe to you who are rich! For you have received your consolation.

Pero ¡ay de vosotros los ricos!, porque habéis recibido vuestro consuelo.

25 W oe to you, you who are full now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

¡Ay de vosotros, los que ahora estáis saciados!, porque habéis de pasar hambre. ¡Ay de vosotros, los que os reís ahora!, porque os lamentaréis y lloraréis.

26 W oe, when men speak well of you, for their fathers did the same thing to the false prophets.

¡Ay cuando todos los hombres hablen bien de vosotros!, porque de la misma manera hacían sus padres con los falsos profetas. El amor hacia los enemigos, y la regla de oro

27 “ But I tell you who hear: love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

Pero a vosotros los que oís, os digo: Amad a vuestros enemigos; haced bien a los que os odian;

28 b less those who curse you, and pray for those who mistreat you.

bendecid a los que os maldicen; orad por los que os maltratan.

29 T o him who strikes you on the cheek, offer also the other; and from him who takes away your cloak, don’t withhold your coat also.

Al que te hiera en una mejilla, preséntale también la otra; y al que te quite el manto, no le impidas que se lleve también la túnica.

30 G ive to everyone who asks you, and don’t ask him who takes away your goods to give them back again.

A todo el que te pida, dale; y al que se lleve lo tuyo, no se lo reclames.

31 “ As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.

Y como queréis que hagan los hombres con vosotros, así también haced vosotros con ellos.

32 I f you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them.

Porque si amáis a los que os aman, ¿qué clase de favor es el vuestro? Porque también los pecadores aman a los que les aman.

33 I f you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

Y si hacéis bien a los que os hacen bien, ¿qué clase de favor es el vuestro? Porque también los pecadores hacen lo mismo.

34 I f you lend to those from whom you hope to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to receive back as much.

Y si prestáis a aquellos de quienes esperáis recibir, ¿qué clase de favor es el vuestro? Porque también los pecadores prestan a los pecadores para recibir otro tanto.

35 B ut love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing back; and your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High; for he is kind toward the unthankful and evil.

Vosotros, en cambio, amad a vuestros enemigos, haced el bien y prestad sin esperar nada a cambio; y será grande vuestra recompensa, y seréis hijos del Altísimo; porque él es bondadoso para con los ingratos y malvados.

36 “ Therefore be merciful, even as your Father is also merciful.

Sed, pues, misericordiosos, como también vuestro Padre es misericordioso. El juzgar a los demás

37 D on’t judge, and you won’t be judged. Don’t condemn, and you won’t be condemned. Set free, and you will be set free.

No juzguéis, y no seréis juzgados; no condenéis, y no seréis condenados; perdonad, y seréis perdonados.

38 “ Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.”

Dad, y se os dará; una medida buena, apretada, remecida y rebosante os pondrán en el regazo. Porque con la misma medida con que medís, os volverán a medir.

39 H e spoke a parable to them. “Can the blind guide the blind? Won’t they both fall into a pit?

Y les dijo también una parábola: ¿Acaso puede un ciego guiar a otro ciego? ¿No caerán ambos en un hoyo?

40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher.

Un discípulo no está por encima de su maestro; pero todo el que esté bien preparado, será como su maestro.

41 W hy do you see the speck of chaff that is in your brother’s eye, but don’t consider the beam that is in your own eye?

¿Y por qué te fijas en la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano, y no echas de ver la viga que está en tu propio ojo?

42 O r how can you tell your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck of chaff that is in your eye,’ when you yourself don’t see the beam that is in your own eye? You hypocrite! First remove the beam from your own eye, and then you can see clearly to remove the speck of chaff that is in your brother’s eye.

¿O cómo puedes decir a tu hermano: Hermano, déjame sacar la paja que está en tu ojo, cuando tú mismo no adviertes la viga que está en tu propio ojo? ¡Hipócrita! Saca primero la viga de tu ojo, y entonces verás bien para sacar la paja que está en el ojo de tu hermano. Por sus frutos los conoceréis

43 F or there is no good tree that produces rotten fruit; nor again a rotten tree that produces good fruit.

Porque no hay árbol de buena calidad que produzca fruto desabrido; ni árbol de mala calidad que produzca fruto excelente.

44 F or each tree is known by its own fruit. For people don’t gather figs from thorns, nor do they gather grapes from a bramble bush.

Pues cada árbol se conoce por su propio fruto; porque no cosechan higos de los espinos, ni vendimian uvas de una zarza.

45 T he good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings out that which is good, and the evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings out that which is evil, for out of the abundance of the heart, his mouth speaks.

El hombre bueno, del buen tesoro de su corazón saca lo bueno; y el hombre malo, del mal tesoro de su corazón saca lo malo; porque de lo que le rebosa del corazón habla su boca. Los dos cimientos

46 “ Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and don’t do the things which I say?

¿Por qué me llamáis: Señor, Señor, y no hacéis lo que digo?

47 E veryone who comes to me, and hears my words, and does them, I will show you who he is like.

Todo el que viene a mí, y oye mis palabras, y las pone en práctica, os voy a mostrar a quién es semejante:

48 H e is like a man building a house, who dug and went deep, and laid a foundation on the rock. When a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it was founded on the rock.

Es semejante a un hombre que, al construir una casa, excavó, ahondó y echó los cimientos sobre la roca; y cuando vino una inundación, el torrente embistió contra aquella casa, pero no tuvo fuerza suficiente para sacudirla, porque estaba fundada sobre la roca.

49 B ut he who hears, and doesn’t do, is like a man who built a house on the earth without a foundation, against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”

Pero el que ha oído, y no pone en práctica, es semejante a un hombre que edificó una casa encima de la tierra, sin cimientos, contra la cual embistió el torrente, y al instante se derrumbó, y fue grande la ruina de aquella casa.
