1 D espués de esto, aconteció que David derrotó a los filisteos, los sometió y tomó a Meteg-ama de manos de los filisteos.

After this it came to pass that David attacked the Philistines and subdued them. And David took Metheg Ammah from the hand of the Philistines.

2 D errotó también a los de Moab, y los midió con una cuerda, haciéndolos tenderse en tierra; los que quedaban a lo largo de dos cuerdas los condenó a morir, y a una cuerda llena la dejó con vida. Y fueron los moabitas siervos de David, pagando tributo.

Then he defeated Moab. Forcing them down to the ground, he measured them off with a line. With two lines he measured off those to be put to death, and with one full line those to be kept alive. So the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought tribute.

3 A simismo derrotó David a Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba, al ir éste a recuperar su territorio al río Éufrates.

David also defeated Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his territory at the River Euphrates.

4 D avid les capturó mil setecientos hombres de a caballo y veinte mil hombres de a pie, y mutiló los caballos de todos los carros, pero dejó suficientes para cien carros.

David took from him one thousand chariots, seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand foot soldiers. Also David hamstrung all the chariot horses, except that he spared enough of them for one hundred chariots.

5 Y vinieron los sirios de Damasco para dar ayuda a Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba; pero David hirió a veintidós mil hombres entre los sirios.

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.

6 P uso luego David una guarnición en Siria de Damasco, y los sirios quedaron sometidos a David, pagando tributo. Y Jehová dio la victoria a David por dondequiera que fue.

Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought tribute. So the Lord preserved David wherever he went.

7 D espués tomó David los escudos de oro que traían los siervos de Hadad-ezer y los llevó a Jerusalén.

And David took the shields of gold that had belonged to the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

8 A simismo tomó el rey David gran cantidad de bronce de Beta y de Berotai, ciudades de Hadad-ezer.

Also from Betah and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took a large amount of bronze.

9 T oi, rey de Hamat, supo que David había derrotado a todo el ejército de Hadad-ezer,

When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

10 y le envió a su hijo Joram para que lo saludara pacíficamente y lo bendijera, porque había peleado con Hadad-ezer y lo había vencido, ya que Toi era enemigo de Hadad-ezer. Joram llevaba en su mano utensilios de plata, de oro y de bronce,

then Toi sent Joram his son to King David, to greet him and bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him (for Hadadezer had been at war with Toi); and Joram brought with him articles of silver, articles of gold, and articles of bronze.

11 l os cuales el rey David dedicó a Jehová, junto con la plata y el oro que le había consagrado, provenientes de todas las naciones que había sometido:

King David also dedicated these to the Lord, along with the silver and gold that he had dedicated from all the nations which he had subdued—

12 d e los sirios, los moabitas, los amonitas, los filisteos, los amalecitas, y del botín de Hadad-ezer hijo de Rehob, rey de Soba.

from Syria, from Moab, from the people of Ammon, from the Philistines, from Amalek, and from the spoil of Hadadezer the son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

13 A sí ganó David fama. Cuando regresaba de derrotar a los sirios, destrozó a dieciocho mil edomitas en el valle de la Sal.

And David made himself a name when he returned from killing eighteen thousand Syrians in the Valley of Salt.

14 A demás, puso guarnición en Edom; por todo Edom puso guarnición, y todos los edomitas quedaron sometidos a David. Y Jehová dio la victoria a David por dondequiera que fue. Oficiales de David

He also put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom he put garrisons, and all the Edomites became David’s servants. And the Lord preserved David wherever he went. David’s Administration

15 R einó David sobre todo Israel, actuando con justicia y rectitud para con todo su pueblo.

So David reigned over all Israel; and David administered judgment and justice to all his people.

16 J oab hijo de Sarvia era general de su ejército, y Josafat hijo de Ahilud, el cronista;

Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the army; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

17 S adoc hijo de Ahitob y Ahimelec hijo de Abiatar eran sacerdotes; Seraías, el escriba;

Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar were the priests; Seraiah was the scribe;

18 B enaía hijo de Joiada mandaba a los cereteos y peleteos, y los hijos de David eran los príncipes.

Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David’s sons were chief ministers.
