1 S alomón hijo de David fue afirmado en su reino, y Jehová, su Dios, estaba con él y lo engrandeció sobremanera.

Now Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the Lord his God was with him and exalted him exceedingly.

2 C onvocó Salomón a todo Israel, a jefes de millares y de centenas, a jueces y a todos los príncipes de todo Israel, jefes de familias.

And Solomon spoke to all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges, and to every leader in all Israel, the heads of the fathers’ houses.

3 D espués Salomón fue con toda esta asamblea al lugar alto que había en Gabaón, pues allí estaba el Tabernáculo de reunión de Dios que Moisés, siervo de Jehová, había hecho en el desierto.

Then Solomon, and all the assembly with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for the tabernacle of meeting with God was there, which Moses the servant of the Lord had made in the wilderness.

4 P ero David había traído el Arca de Dios de Quiriat-jearim al lugar que él le había preparado; porque le había levantado una tienda en Jerusalén.

But David had brought up the ark of God from Kirjath Jearim to the place David had prepared for it, for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

5 A simismo el altar de bronce que había hecho Bezaleel hijo de Uri hijo de Hur, estaba allí, delante del tabernáculo de Jehová, al cual fue a consultar Salomón con aquella asamblea.

Now the bronze altar that Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the Lord; Solomon and the assembly sought Him there.

6 S ubió, pues, Salomón allá delante de Jehová, al altar de bronce que estaba en el Tabernáculo de reunión, y ofreció sobre él mil holocaustos.

And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the Lord, which was at the tabernacle of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it.

7 A quella noche se le apareció Dios a Salomón y le dijo: —Pídeme lo que quieras que yo te dé.

On that night God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, “Ask! What shall I give you?”

8 S alomón respondió a Dios: —Tú has tenido con David, mi padre, gran misericordia, y a mí me has puesto por rey en lugar suyo.

And Solomon said to God: “You have shown great mercy to David my father, and have made me king in his place.

9 A hora pues, Jehová Dios, que se cumpla la palabra que le diste a David, mi padre; porque tú me has puesto por rey sobre un pueblo numeroso como el polvo de la tierra.

Now, O Lord God, let Your promise to David my father be established, for You have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

10 D ame ahora sabiduría y ciencia, para que sepa dirigir a este pueblo; porque ¿quién podrá gobernar a este tu pueblo tan grande?

Now give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people; for who can judge this great people of Yours?”

11 R espondió Dios a Salomón: —Por cuanto éste ha sido el deseo de tu corazón, y no pediste riquezas, bienes o gloria, ni la vida de los que procuran tu mal, ni pediste muchos días, sino que has pedido para ti sabiduría y ciencia para gobernar a mi pueblo, sobre el cual te he puesto por rey,

Then God said to Solomon: “Because this was in your heart, and you have not asked riches or wealth or honor or the life of your enemies, nor have you asked long life—but have asked wisdom and knowledge for yourself, that you may judge My people over whom I have made you king—

12 s abiduría y ciencia te son dadas; y también te daré riquezas, bienes y gloria, como nunca la tuvieron los reyes que fueron antes de ti, ni la tendrán los que vengan después de ti.

wisdom and knowledge are granted to you; and I will give you riches and wealth and honor, such as none of the kings have had who were before you, nor shall any after you have the like.” Solomon’s Military and Economic Power

13 Y desde el lugar alto que estaba en Gabaón, delante del Tabernáculo de reunión, volvió Salomón a Jerusalén, y reinó sobre Israel. Salomón comercia en carros y caballos

So Solomon came to Jerusalem from the high place that was at Gibeon, from before the tabernacle of meeting, and reigned over Israel.

14 S alomón reunió carros y gente de a caballo; y tuvo mil cuatrocientos carros y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades destinadas a los carros y junto al rey en Jerusalén.

And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen; he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he stationed in the chariot cities and with the king in Jerusalem.

15 H izo el rey que hubiera en Jerusalén tanta plata y oro como piedras, y que abundara el cedro como las higueras silvestres de la Sefela.

Also the king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars as abundant as the sycamores which are in the lowland.

16 L os mercaderes del rey compraban por contrato caballos y lienzos finos de Egipto para Salomón.

And Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king’s merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price.

17 S ubían y compraban en Egipto un carro por seiscientas piezas de plata y un caballo por ciento cincuenta. Y todos los reyes de los heteos y los reyes de Siria compraban así por medio de ellos.

They also acquired and imported from Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for one hundred and fifty; thus, through their agents, they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.
