1 A conteció en el año séptimo, en el mes quinto, a los diez días del mes, que vinieron algunos de los ancianos de Israel a consultar a Jehová, y se sentaron delante de mí.

It came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and sat before me.

2 Y vino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

3 « Hijo de hombre, habla a los ancianos de Israel y diles: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: ¿A consultarme venís vosotros? Vivo yo, que no os responderé, dice Jehová, el Señor.”

“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’

4 ¿ Quieres tú juzgarlos? ¿Los quieres juzgar tú, hijo de hombre? Hazles conocer las abominaciones de sus padres,

Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Then make known to them the abominations of their fathers.

5 y diles: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: El día que escogí a Israel y que alcé mi mano para jurar a la descendencia de la casa de Jacob, cuando me di a conocer a ellos en la tierra de Egipto, cuando alcé mi mano y les juré, diciendo: Yo soy Jehová, vuestro Dios,

“Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’

6 a quel día que les alcé mi mano, jurando así que los sacaría de la tierra de Egipto a la tierra que les había provisto, la cual fluye leche y miel y es la más hermosa de todas las tierras,

On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands.

7 e ntonces les dije: Cada uno eche de sí las abominaciones de delante de sus ojos, y no os contaminéis con los ídolos de Egipto. Yo soy Jehová, vuestro Dios.

Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’

8 » ”Pero ellos se rebelaron contra mí y no quisieron obedecerme; no echó de sí cada uno las abominaciones de delante de sus ojos ni dejaron los ídolos de Egipto. Entonces dije que derramaría mi ira sobre ellos, para consumar mi enojo en ellos en medio de la tierra de Egipto.

But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’

9 C on todo, a causa de mi nombre, para que no se profanara ante los ojos de las naciones en medio de las cuales estaban, ante cuyos ojos fui conocido, actué para sacarlos de la tierra de Egipto.

But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they were, in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

10 L os saqué de la tierra de Egipto y los traje al desierto.

“Therefore I made them go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

11 L es di mis estatutos y les hice conocer mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumpla, vivirá.

And I gave them My statutes and showed them My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them.’

12 Y les di también mis sábados, para que fueran por señal entre yo y ellos, para que supieran que yo soy Jehová que los santifico.

Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

13 P ero se rebeló contra mí la casa de Israel en el desierto; no anduvieron en mis estatutos y desecharon mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumpla, vivirá; y mis sábados profanaron en gran manera. Dije, por tanto, que derramaría sobre ellos mi ira en el desierto para exterminarlos.

Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 P ero actué a causa de mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado a la vista de las naciones ante cuyos ojos los había sacado.

But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

15 » ”También yo les alcé mi mano en el desierto, jurando que no los traería a la tierra que les había dado, la cual fluye leche y miel y es la más hermosa de todas las tierras;

So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands,

16 p orque desecharon mis decretos, no anduvieron en mis estatutos y profanaron mis sábados, porque tras sus ídolos iba su corazón.

because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

17 C on todo, los miré con piedad: no los maté ni los exterminé en el desierto;

Nevertheless My eye spared them from destruction. I did not make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 a ntes bien, dije en el desierto a sus hijos: ‘No andéis en los estatutos de vuestros padres ni guardéis sus leyes ni os contaminéis con sus ídolos.

“But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

19 Y o soy Jehová, vuestro Dios: andad en mis estatutos, guardad mis preceptos y ponedlos por obra.

I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them;

20 S antificad mis sábados, y sean por señal entre mí y vosotros, para que sepáis que yo soy Jehová, vuestro Dios.’

hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’

21 » ”Pero los hijos se rebelaron contra mí; no anduvieron en mis estatutos ni guardaron mis decretos para ponerlos por obra, por los cuales el hombre que los cumpla, vivirá; y profanaron mis sábados. Dije entonces que derramaría mi ira sobre ellos, para consumar mi enojo en ellos en el desierto.

“Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.

22 S in embargo, retraje mi mano a causa de mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado a la vista de las naciones ante cuyos ojos los había sacado.

Nevertheless I withdrew My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

23 T ambién les alcé yo mi mano en el desierto, jurando que los esparciría entre las naciones y que los dispersaría por las tierras,

Also I raised My hand in an oath to those in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them throughout the countries,

24 p orque no pusieron por obra mis decretos, sino que desecharon mis estatutos, profanaron mis sábados y tras los ídolos de sus padres se les fueron los ojos.

because they had not executed My judgments, but had despised My statutes, profaned My Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.

25 P or eso yo también les di estatutos que no eran buenos y decretos por los cuales no podrían vivir.

“Therefore I also gave them up to statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could not live;

26 Y los contaminé en sus ofrendas cuando hacían pasar por el fuego a todo primogénito, para desolarlos y hacerles saber que yo soy Jehová.”

and I pronounced them unclean because of their ritual gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate and that they might know that I am the Lord.”’

27 » Por tanto, hijo de hombre, habla a la casa de Israel, y diles: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: Aun en esto me afrentaron vuestros padres cuando cometieron infidelidad contra mí.

“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “In this too your fathers have blasphemed Me, by being unfaithful to Me.

28 P orque yo los traje a la tierra sobre la cual había alzado mi mano jurando que había de dársela, y miraron a todo collado alto y a todo árbol frondoso: allí sacrificaron sus víctimas, allí presentaron ofrendas que me irritan, allí pusieron también su incienso agradable y allí derramaron sus libaciones.

When I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand in an oath to give them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings. There they also sent up their sweet aroma and poured out their drink offerings.

29 Y o les dije: ¿Qué es ese lugar alto adonde vosotros vais? Y fue llamado su nombre ‘Bama’ hasta el día de hoy.”

Then I said to them, ‘What is this high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’

30 » Di, pues, a la casa de Israel: “Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: ¿No os contamináis vosotros a la manera de vuestros padres, y fornicáis tras sus abominaciones?

Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Are you defiling yourselves in the manner of your fathers, and committing harlotry according to their abominations?

31 P orque ofreciendo vuestras ofrendas, haciendo pasar vuestros hijos por el fuego, os habéis contaminado con todos vuestros ídolos hasta hoy, ¿y habré de responderos yo, casa de Israel? ¡Vivo yo, dice Jehová el Señor, que no os responderé!

For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.

32 » ”Y no ha de suceder lo que habéis pensado. Porque vosotros decís: ‘Seamos como las naciones, como las demás familias de la tierra, que sirven al palo y a la piedra.’

What you have in your mind shall never be, when you say, ‘We will be like the Gentiles, like the families in other countries, serving wood and stone.’ God Will Restore Israel

33 » ”Vivo yo, dice Jehová el Señor, que con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y en el ardor de mi ira, he de reinar sobre vosotros.

“ As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you.

34 O s sacaré de entre los pueblos y os reuniré de las tierras en que estáis esparcidos, con mano fuerte y brazo extendido, y en el ardor de mi ira;

I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out.

35 o s traeré al desierto de los pueblos y allí litigaré con vosotros cara a cara.

And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face.

36 C omo litigué con vuestros padres en el desierto de la tierra de Egipto, así litigaré con vosotros, dice Jehová, el Señor.

Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God.

37 O s haré pasar bajo la vara y os haré entrar en los vínculos del pacto;

“I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

38 y apartaré de entre vosotros a los rebeldes y a los que se rebelaron contra mí; de la tierra de sus peregrinaciones los sacaré, pero en la tierra de Israel no entrarán. Y sabréis que yo soy Jehová.

I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

39 » ”Y a vosotros, casa de Israel, así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: Ande cada uno de vosotros tras sus ídolos y sírvalos, si es que a mí no me obedecéis; pero no profanéis más mi santo nombre con vuestras ofrendas y con vuestros ídolos.

“As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: “Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols.

40 » ”Pero en mi santo monte, en el alto monte de Israel, dice Jehová, el Señor, allí me servirá toda la casa de Israel, toda ella en la tierra; allí los aceptaré, y allí demandaré vuestras ofrendas y las primicias de vuestros dones, con todas vuestras cosas consagradas.

For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord God, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things.

41 C omo incienso agradable os aceptaré cuando os haya sacado de entre los pueblos y os haya congregado de entre las tierras en que estáis esparcidos; y seré santificado en vosotros ante los ojos de las naciones.

I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.

42 Y sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando os haya traído a la tierra de Israel, la tierra por la cual alcé mi mano jurando que la daría a vuestros padres.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers.

43 A llí os acordaréis de vuestros caminos y de todos vuestros hechos con que os contaminasteis; y os aborreceréis a vosotros mismos a causa de todos vuestros pecados que cometisteis.

And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed.

44 Y sabréis que yo soy Jehová, cuando, por amor de mi nombre, no haga con vosotros según vuestros malos caminos ni según vuestras perversas obras, casa de Israel, dice Jehová, el Señor.”» Profecía contra el Neguev

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’” Fire in the Forest

45 V ino a mí palabra de Jehová, diciendo:

Furthermore the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

46 « Hijo de hombre, vuelve tu rostro hacia el sur, derrama tu palabra hacia la parte austral, profetiza contra el bosque del Neguev.

“Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest land, the South,

47 Y dirás al bosque del Neguev: “Oye la palabra de Jehová: Así ha dicho Jehová, el Señor: He aquí que yo enciendo en ti un fuego que consumirá en ti todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco. No se apagará la llama del fuego, y serán quemados en ella todos los rostros, desde el sur hasta el norte.”

and say to the forest of the South, ‘Hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.

48 Y verá toda carne que yo, Jehová, lo encendí, y no se apagará.»

All flesh shall see that I, the Lord, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.”’”

49 Y dije: «¡Ah, Señor Jehová! ellos dicen de mí: “¿No profiere éste parábolas?”»

Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! They say of me, ‘Does he not speak parables?’”
