1 E n el año séptimo, el día diez del mes quinto, vinieron algunos de los ancianos de Israel a consultar al Señor, y se sentaron delante de mí.

It came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, on the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to inquire of the Lord, and sat before me.

2 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

3 “ Hijo de hombre, habla a los ancianos de Israel y diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “¿Vienen a consultarme? Vivo Yo, que no Me dejaré consultar por ustedes,”’ declara el Señor Dios.

“Son of man, speak to the elders of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Have you come to inquire of Me? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.”’

4 “ ¿Los juzgarás? ¿ Los juzgarás, hijo de hombre? Hazles saber las abominaciones de sus padres.

Will you judge them, son of man, will you judge them? Then make known to them the abominations of their fathers.

5 “ Diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “El día que escogí a Israel y juré a los descendientes de la casa de Jacob, Me di a conocer a ellos en la tierra de Egipto, y les juré: Yo soy el Señor su Dios.

“Say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “On the day when I chose Israel and raised My hand in an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made Myself known to them in the land of Egypt, I raised My hand in an oath to them, saying, ‘I am the Lord your God.’

6 A quel día les juré que los sacaría de la tierra de Egipto a una tierra que Yo había escogido para ellos, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras.

On that day I raised My hand in an oath to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands.

7 Y les dije: ‘Cada uno arroje las cosas detestables que les atraen, y no se contaminen con los ídolos de Egipto; Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

Then I said to them, ‘Each of you, throw away the abominations which are before his eyes, and do not defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.’

8 P ero se rebelaron contra Mí y no quisieron escucharme; no arrojaron las cosas detestables que les atraían, ni abandonaron los ídolos de Egipto. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos Mi ira en medio de la tierra de Egipto.

But they rebelled against Me and would not obey Me. They did not all cast away the abominations which were before their eyes, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt. Then I said, ‘I will pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.’

9 P ero actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones en medio de las cuales vivían, y a cuya vista Me había dado a conocer sacándolos de la tierra de Egipto.

But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they were, in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

10 L os saqué, pues, de la tierra de Egipto y los llevé al desierto.

“Therefore I made them go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

11 L es di Mis estatutos y les hice conocer Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre vivirá si los cumple.

And I gave them My statutes and showed them My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them.’

12 T ambién les di Mis días de reposo por señal entre ellos y Yo, para que supieran que Yo soy el Señor, el que los santifica.

Moreover I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them.

13 P ero la casa de Israel se rebeló contra Mí en el desierto; no anduvieron en Mis estatutos y desecharon Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá, y Mis días de reposo profanaron en gran manera. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos en el desierto, para exterminarlos.

Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness; they did not walk in My statutes; they despised My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; and they greatly defiled My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

14 P ero actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

But I acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

15 T ambién les juré en el desierto que no los llevaría a la tierra que les había dado, que mana leche y miel y que es la más hermosa de todas las tierras,

So I also raised My hand in an oath to them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, ‘flowing with milk and honey,’ the glory of all lands,

16 p orque desecharon Mis decretos, no anduvieron en Mis estatutos y profanaron Mis días de reposo, porque su corazón se iba tras sus ídolos.

because they despised My judgments and did not walk in My statutes, but profaned My Sabbaths; for their heart went after their idols.

17 S in embargo, Mi ojo los perdonó para no destruirlos, y no los hice exterminar en el desierto.

Nevertheless My eye spared them from destruction. I did not make an end of them in the wilderness.

18 Y dije a sus hijos en el desierto: ‘No anden en los estatutos de sus padres, ni guarden sus decretos, ni se contaminen con sus ídolos.

“But I said to their children in the wilderness, ‘Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, nor observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols.

19 Y o soy el Señor su Dios. Anden en Mis estatutos, guarden Mis decretos y pónganlos por obra.

I am the Lord your God: Walk in My statutes, keep My judgments, and do them;

20 S antifiquen Mis días de reposo; y que sean una señal entre Yo y ustedes, para que sepan que Yo soy el Señor su Dios.’

hallow My Sabbaths, and they will be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.’

21 P ero los hijos se rebelaron contra Mí, no anduvieron en Mis estatutos, ni tuvieron cuidado de cumplir Mis decretos, por los cuales el hombre que los cumple vivirá. Además profanaron Mis días de reposo. Entonces decidí derramar Mi furor sobre ellos, para desahogar contra ellos Mi ira en el desierto.

“Notwithstanding, the children rebelled against Me; they did not walk in My statutes, and were not careful to observe My judgments, ‘which, if a man does, he shall live by them’; but they profaned My Sabbaths. Then I said I would pour out My fury on them and fulfill My anger against them in the wilderness.

22 P ero retiré Mi mano y actué en consideración a Mi nombre, para que no fuera profanado ante los ojos de las naciones a cuya vista los había sacado.

Nevertheless I withdrew My hand and acted for My name’s sake, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the Gentiles, in whose sight I had brought them out.

23 T ambién Yo les juré en el desierto que los dispersaría entre las naciones y los esparciría por las tierras,

Also I raised My hand in an oath to those in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the Gentiles and disperse them throughout the countries,

24 p orque no habían cumplido Mis decretos, habían desechado Mis estatutos y habían profanado Mis días de reposo, y tras los ídolos de sus padres se iban sus ojos.

because they had not executed My judgments, but had despised My statutes, profaned My Sabbaths, and their eyes were fixed on their fathers’ idols.

25 T ambién les di estatutos que no eran buenos y decretos por los cuales no podrían vivir;

“Therefore I also gave them up to statutes that were not good, and judgments by which they could not live;

26 y los declaré inmundos en sus ofrendas, pues hicieron pasar por el fuego a todos sus primogénitos y tuviera Yo que desolarlos, para que supieran que Yo soy el Señor.”’

and I pronounced them unclean because of their ritual gifts, in that they caused all their firstborn to pass through the fire, that I might make them desolate and that they might know that I am the Lord.”’

27 “ Por tanto, hijo de hombre, habla a la casa de Israel, y diles: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “Aun en esto Me han blasfemado sus padres actuando deslealmente contra Mí.

“Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel, and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “In this too your fathers have blasphemed Me, by being unfaithful to Me.

28 C uando los traje a la tierra que había jurado darles, miraron a toda colina alta y todo árbol frondoso, y allí ofrecieron sus sacrificios y allí presentaron sus ofrendas provocativas. Allí presentaron también su aroma agradable y allí derramaron sus libaciones.

When I brought them into the land concerning which I had raised My hand in an oath to give them, and they saw all the high hills and all the thick trees, there they offered their sacrifices and provoked Me with their offerings. There they also sent up their sweet aroma and poured out their drink offerings.

29 E ntonces les dije: ‘¿Qué es el lugar alto adonde van?’ Y se le dio el nombre de Bama (Lugar Alto) hasta el día de hoy.”’

Then I said to them, ‘What is this high place to which you go?’ So its name is called Bamah to this day.”’

30 P or tanto, dile a la casa de Israel: ‘Así dice el Señor Dios: “¿Se contaminarán a la manera de sus padres y se prostituirán tras sus abominaciones?

Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “Are you defiling yourselves in the manner of your fathers, and committing harlotry according to their abominations?

31 C uando ofrecen sus ofrendas, cuando hacen pasar por el fuego a sus hijos, se contaminan con todos sus ídolos hasta el día de hoy. ¿Me dejaré consultar Yo por ustedes, casa de Israel? Vivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que no Me dejaré consultar por ustedes.

For when you offer your gifts and make your sons pass through the fire, you defile yourselves with all your idols, even to this day. So shall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live,” says the Lord God, “I will not be inquired of by you.

32 Y no sucederá lo que están pensando, cuando dicen: ‘Seremos como las naciones, como las tribus de otras tierras, que sirven a la madera y a la piedra.’

What you have in your mind shall never be, when you say, ‘We will be like the Gentiles, like the families in other countries, serving wood and stone.’ God Will Restore Israel

33 V ivo Yo,” declara el Señor Dios, “que con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado Yo seré rey sobre ustedes.

“ As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you.

34 L os sacaré de entre los pueblos y los reuniré de las tierras donde están dispersos con mano fuerte, con brazo extendido y con furor derramado;

I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out.

35 y los llevaré al desierto de los pueblos y allí entraré en juicio con ustedes cara a cara.

And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will plead My case with you face to face.

36 C omo entré en juicio con sus padres en el desierto de la tierra de Egipto, así entraré en juicio con ustedes,” declara el Señor Dios.

Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God.

37 “ Los haré pasar bajo la vara y los haré entrar en el vínculo del pacto;

“I will make you pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant;

38 y separaré de ustedes a los rebeldes, a los que han transgredido contra Mí; y los sacaré de la tierra donde peregrinan, pero no entrarán en la tierra de Israel. Y ustedes sabrán que Yo soy el Señor.

I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.

39 “ En cuanto a ustedes, casa de Israel,” así dice el Señor Dios, “Vaya cada uno a servir a sus ídolos; pero más tarde ciertamente Me escucharán y no profanarán más Mi santo nombre con sus ofrendas y con sus ídolos.

“As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: “Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols.

40 P orque en Mi santo monte, en el alto monte de Israel,” declara el Señor Dios “allí Me servirá toda la casa de Israel, toda ella, en esta tierra. Allí los aceptaré y allí reclamaré sus ofrendas y las primicias de sus dones con todas sus cosas sagradas.

For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord God, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things.

41 C omo aroma agradable los aceptaré, cuando los haya sacado de entre los pueblos y los haya recogido de las tierras donde están dispersos. Mostraré Mi santidad entre ustedes a la vista de las naciones.

I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles.

42 Y ustedes sabrán que Yo soy el Señor, cuando los traiga a la tierra de Israel, a la tierra que juré dar a sus padres.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers.

43 A llí se acordarán de sus caminos y de todas sus obras con las que se han contaminado, y se aborrecerán a ustedes mismos por todas las iniquidades que han cometido.

And there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and you shall loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed.

44 Y sabrán que Yo soy el Señor, cuando actúe con ustedes en consideración a Mi nombre, y no conforme a sus malos caminos ni conforme a sus perversas obras, casa de Israel,’” declara el Señor Dios.

Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have dealt with you for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’” Fire in the Forest

45 Y vino a mí la palabra del Señor:

Furthermore the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

46 “ Hijo de hombre, pon tu rostro hacia Teman y habla contra el sur, profetiza contra el bosque del Neguev (región del sur),

“Son of man, set your face toward the south; preach against the south and prophesy against the forest land, the South,

47 y dile al bosque del Neguev: ‘Oye la palabra del Señor. Así dice el Señor Dios: “Voy a prenderte un fuego que consumirá en ti todo árbol verde y todo árbol seco. No se apagará la llama abrasadora, y por ella será quemada toda la superficie, de sur a norte.

and say to the forest of the South, ‘Hear the word of the Lord! Thus says the Lord God: “Behold, I will kindle a fire in you, and it shall devour every green tree and every dry tree in you; the blazing flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be scorched by it.

48 Y toda carne verá que Yo, el Señor, lo he encendido; no se apagará.”’”

All flesh shall see that I, the Lord, have kindled it; it shall not be quenched.”’”

49 E ntonces dije: “¡Ah, Señor Dios! Ellos dicen de mí: ‘¿No habla éste más que parábolas ?’”

Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! They say of me, ‘Does he not speak parables?’”
