1 P or tanto, puesto que Cristo ha padecido en la carne, ármense también ustedes con el mismo propósito, pues quien ha padecido en la carne ha terminado con el pecado,

Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,

2 p ara vivir el tiempo que le queda en la carne, ya no para las pasiones humanas, sino para la voluntad de Dios.

that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.

3 P orque el tiempo ya pasado les es suficiente para haber hecho lo que agrada a los Gentiles, habiendo andado en sensualidad, lujurias, borracheras, orgías, embriagueces, y abominables idolatrías.

For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.

4 Y en todo esto, se sorprenden de que ustedes no corren con ellos en el mismo desenfreno de disolución, y los insultan.

In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.

5 P ero ellos darán cuenta a Aquél que está preparado para juzgar a los vivos y a los muertos.

They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 P orque con este fin fue predicado el evangelio (fueron anunciadas las buenas nuevas) aun a los muertos, para que aunque sean juzgados en la carne como hombres, vivan en el espíritu conforme a la voluntad de Dios. El Fin de Todas las Cosas y la Conducta Cristiana

For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Serving for God’s Glory

7 P ero el fin de todas las cosas se acerca. Sean pues ustedes prudentes y de espíritu sobrio para la oración.

But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

8 S obre todo, sean fervientes en su amor los unos por los otros, pues el amor cubre multitud de pecados.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

9 S ean hospitalarios los unos para con los otros, sin murmuraciones (sin quejas).

Be hospitable to one another without grumbling.

10 S egún cada uno ha recibido un don especial, úselo sirviéndose los unos a los otros como buenos administradores de la multiforme gracia de Dios.

As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 E l que habla, que hable conforme a las palabras de Dios; el que sirve (que ministra), que lo haga por la fortaleza que Dios da, para que en todo Dios sea glorificado mediante Jesucristo, a quien pertenecen la gloria y el dominio por los siglos de los siglos. Amén. Sufriendo como Cristianos

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Suffering for God’s Glory

12 A mados, no se sorprendan del fuego de prueba que en medio de ustedes ha venido para probarlos, como si alguna cosa extraña les estuviera aconteciendo.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;

13 A ntes bien, en la medida en que comparten los padecimientos de Cristo, regocíjense, para que también en la revelación de Su gloria se regocijen con gran alegría.

but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

14 S i ustedes son insultados por el nombre de Cristo, dichosos son, pues el Espíritu de gloria y de Dios reposa sobre ustedes. Ciertamente, por ellos El es blasfemado, pero por ustedes es glorificado.

If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.

15 Q ue de ninguna manera sufra alguien de ustedes como asesino, o ladrón, o malhechor, o por entrometido.

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or as a busybody in other people’s matters.

16 P ero si alguien sufre como Cristiano, que no se avergüence, sino que como tal (en ese nombre) glorifique a Dios.

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.

17 P orque es tiempo de que el juicio comience por la casa de Dios. Y si comienza por nosotros primero, ¿cuál será el fin de los que no obedecen al evangelio de Dios ?

For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?

18 Y si el justo con dificultad se salva, ¿que sera del impio y del pecador ?

Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”

19 A sí que los que sufren conforme a la voluntad de Dios, encomienden sus almas al fiel Creador, haciendo el bien.

Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
