1 E ntonces dieron aviso a David: “Los Filisteos están atacando a Keila, y están saqueando las eras.”

Then they told David, saying, “Look, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they are robbing the threshing floors.”

2 E ntonces consultó David al Señor: “¿Debo ir a atacar a estos Filisteos?” Y el Señor dijo a David: “Ve, ataca a los Filisteos y libra a Keila.”

Therefore David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I go and attack these Philistines?” And the Lord said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines, and save Keilah.”

3 P ero los hombres de David le dijeron: “Mira, estamos con temor aquí en Judá. ¿Cuánto más si vamos a Keila contra las filas de los Filisteos?”

But David’s men said to him, “Look, we are afraid here in Judah. How much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?”

4 D e nuevo David consultó al Señor; y el Señor le respondió: “Levántate, desciende a Keila, pues entregaré a los Filisteos en tu mano.”

Then David inquired of the Lord once again. And the Lord answered him and said, “Arise, go down to Keilah. For I will deliver the Philistines into your hand.”

5 Y David y sus hombres fueron a Keila y pelearon contra los Filisteos; y él se llevó sus ganados y los hirió con gran mortandad. Así libró David a los habitantes de Keila. Saúl Persigue a David

And David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines, struck them with a mighty blow, and took away their livestock. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 A l huir Abiatar, hijo de Ahimelec, a donde estaba David en Keila, descendió con un efod en la mano.

Now it happened, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, that he went down with an ephod in his hand.

7 C uando se avisó a Saúl que David había ido a Keila, Saúl dijo: “Dios lo ha entregado en mi mano, pues se ha encerrado entrando en una ciudad con puertas dobles y barras.”

And Saul was told that David had gone to Keilah. So Saul said, “God has delivered him into my hand, for he has shut himself in by entering a town that has gates and bars.”

8 Y Saúl convocó a todo el pueblo a la guerra, para descender a Keila a fin de cercar a David y sus hombres.

Then Saul called all the people together for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

9 D avid supo que Saúl tramaba el mal contra él; así que le dijo al sacerdote Abiatar: “Trae el efod.”

When David knew that Saul plotted evil against him, he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring the ephod here.”

10 E ntonces David dijo: “Oh Señor, Dios de Israel, Tu siervo ciertamente ha oído que Saúl procura venir a Keila para destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

Then David said, “O Lord God of Israel, Your servant has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah to destroy the city for my sake.

11 ¿ Me entregarán en su mano los hombres de Keila? ¿Descenderá Saúl tal como Tu siervo ha oído? Oh Señor, Dios de Israel, Te ruego que lo hagas saber a Tu siervo.” Y el Señor dijo: “ Sí, descenderá.”

Will the men of Keilah deliver me into his hand? Will Saul come down, as Your servant has heard? O Lord God of Israel, I pray, tell Your servant.” And the Lord said, “He will come down.”

12 E ntonces David dijo: “¿Me entregarán los hombres de Keila a mí y a mis hombres en manos de Saúl?” Y el Señor dijo: “ Sí, los entregarán.”

Then David said, “Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul?” And the Lord said, “They will deliver you. ”

13 S e levantó, pues, David con sus hombres, como 600, y salieron de Keila y anduvieron de un lugar a otro. Cuando a Saúl le informaron que David se había escapado de Keila, cesó de perseguirlo.

So David and his men, about six hundred, arose and departed from Keilah and went wherever they could go. Then it was told Saul that David had escaped from Keilah; so he halted the expedition. David in Wilderness Strongholds

14 D avid se quedó en el desierto en los refugios, y permaneció en la región montañosa en el desierto de Zif. Saúl lo buscaba todos los días, pero Dios no lo entregó en su mano.

And David stayed in strongholds in the wilderness, and remained in the mountains in the Wilderness of Ziph. Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

15 Y David se enteró de que Saúl había salido para quitarle la vida, y David se encontraba en el desierto de Zif, en Hores.

So David saw that Saul had come out to seek his life. And David was in the Wilderness of Ziph in a forest.

16 J onatán, hijo de Saúl, se levantó y fue a donde estaba David en Hores, y lo fortaleció en Dios.

Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.

17 Y le dijo: “No temas, porque la mano de Saúl mi padre no te encontrará, y tú reinarás sobre Israel y yo seré segundo después de ti; Saúl mi padre también sabe esto.”

And he said to him, “Do not fear, for the hand of Saul my father shall not find you. You shall be king over Israel, and I shall be next to you. Even my father Saul knows that.”

18 H icieron los dos un pacto delante del Señor; y David permaneció en Hores mientras Jonatán se fue a su casa.

So the two of them made a covenant before the Lord. And David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to his own house.

19 E ntonces subieron los de Zif a Saúl en Guibeá y dijeron: “¿No está David escondido entre nosotros en los refugios de Hores, en la colina de Haquila que está al sur de Jesimón (del desierto)?

Then the Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding with us in strongholds in the woods, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?

20 A hora bien, oh rey, usted descienda conforme a todo el deseo de su alma para hacerlo; y nuestra parte será entregarlo en manos del rey.”

Now therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of your soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.”

21 Y Saúl dijo: “Benditos sean del Señor, porque se compadecieron de mí.

And Saul said, “Blessed are you of the Lord, for you have compassion on me.

22 V ayan ahora, asegúrense, investiguen y vean dónde está su escondite, y quién lo ha visto allí, porque me han dicho que es muy astuto.

Please go and find out for sure, and see the place where his hideout is, and who has seen him there. For I am told he is very crafty.

23 M iren entonces, reconozcan todos los escondites donde se oculta, regresen a mí cuando estén seguros, y yo iré con ustedes; y sucederá que si estuviera en la tierra, voy a hallarlo entre todos los miles de Judá.”

See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking places where he hides; and come back to me with certainty, and I will go with you. And it shall be, if he is in the land, that I will search for him throughout all the clans of Judah.”

24 E llos se levantaron y fueron a Zif delante de Saúl. Y David y sus hombres estaban en el desierto de Maón, en el Arabá, al sur de Jesimón.

So they arose and went to Ziph before Saul. But David and his men were in the Wilderness of Maon, in the plain on the south of Jeshimon.

25 S aúl fue con sus hombres a buscar lo, pero le avisaron a David, y éste bajó a la peña y permaneció en el desierto de Maón. Cuando Saúl lo supo, persiguió a David en el desierto de Maón.

When Saul and his men went to seek him, they told David. Therefore he went down to the rock, and stayed in the Wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued David in the Wilderness of Maon.

26 S aúl iba por un lado del monte y David y sus hombres por el otro lado del monte. David se apresuraba para huir de Saúl, pues Saúl y sus hombres estaban rodeando a David y a sus hombres para apresarlos.

Then Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men were encircling David and his men to take them.

27 P ero un mensajero vino a Saúl diciendo: Apresúrese y venga, pues los Filisteos han hecho una incursión en la tierra.

But a messenger came to Saul, saying, “Hurry and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land!”

28 R egresó entonces Saúl, dejando de perseguir a David, y fue al encuentro de los Filisteos. Por eso llamaron a aquel lugar la Peña de Escape.

Therefore Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines; so they called that place the Rock of Escape.

29 Y subió David de allí, y permaneció en los refugios de En Gadi.

Then David went up from there and dwelt in strongholds at En Gedi.
