1 P ablo, apóstol de Cristo Jesús por la voluntad de Dios, y el hermano Timoteo, A la iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, con todos los santos que están en toda Acaya:

Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timothy our brother, To the church of God which is at Corinth, with all the saints who are in all Achaia:

2 G racia y paz a ustedes de parte de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo. El Dios de toda Consolación

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Comfort in Suffering

3 B endito sea el Dios y Padre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Padre de misericordias y Dios de toda consolación,

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,

4 e l cual nos consuela en todas nuestras tribulaciones, para que también nosotros podamos consolar a los que están en cualquier aflicción, dándoles el consuelo con que nosotros mismos somos consolados por Dios.

who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.

5 P orque así como los sufrimientos de Cristo son nuestros en abundancia, así también abunda nuestro consuelo por medio de Cristo (el Mesías).

For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ.

6 P ero si somos atribulados, es para el consuelo y salvación de ustedes; o si somos consolados, es para consuelo de ustedes, que obra al soportar las mismas aflicciones que nosotros también sufrimos.

Now if we are afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effective for enduring the same sufferings which we also suffer. Or if we are comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

7 Y nuestra esperanza respecto de ustedes está firmemente establecida, sabiendo que como son copartícipes de los sufrimientos, así también lo son de la consolación.

And our hope for you is steadfast, because we know that as you are partakers of the sufferings, so also you will partake of the consolation. Delivered from Suffering

8 P orque no queremos que ignoren, hermanos, acerca de nuestra aflicción sufrida en Asia (provincia occidental de Asia Menor). Porque fuimos abrumados sobremanera, más allá de nuestras fuerzas, de modo que hasta perdimos la esperanza de salir con vida.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.

9 D e hecho, dentro de nosotros mismos ya teníamos la sentencia de muerte, a fin de que no confiáramos en nosotros mismos, sino en Dios que resucita a los muertos,

Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead,

10 e l cual nos libró de tan gran peligro de muerte y nos librará, y en quien hemos puesto nuestra esperanza de que El aún nos ha de librar.

who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver us,

11 U stedes también cooperaron con nosotros con la oración, para que por muchas personas sean dadas gracias a favor nuestro por el don que nos ha sido impartido por medio de las oraciones de muchos. Sinceridad de Pablo

you also helping together in prayer for us, that thanks may be given by many persons on our behalf for the gift granted to us through many. Paul’s Sincerity

12 P orque nuestra satisfacción es ésta: el testimonio de nuestra conciencia que en la santidad y en la sinceridad que viene de Dios, no en sabiduría carnal sino en la gracia de Dios, nos hemos conducido en el mundo y especialmente hacia ustedes.

For our boasting is this: the testimony of our conscience that we conducted ourselves in the world in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.

13 P orque ninguna otra cosa les escribimos sino lo que leen y entienden, y espero que entenderán hasta el fin;

For we are not writing any other things to you than what you read or understand. Now I trust you will understand, even to the end

14 c omo también ustedes nos han entendido en parte que nosotros somos el motivo de su gloria, así como también ustedes la nuestra en el día de nuestro Señor Jesús.

(as also you have understood us in part), that we are your boast as you also are ours, in the day of the Lord Jesus. Sparing the Church

15 Y con esta confianza me propuse ir primero a ustedes para que dos veces recibieran bendición,

And in this confidence I intended to come to you before, that you might have a second benefit—

16 e s decir, quería visitarlos de paso a Macedonia, y de Macedonia ir de nuevo a ustedes y ser encaminado por ustedes en mi viaje a Judea.

to pass by way of you to Macedonia, to come again from Macedonia to you, and be helped by you on my way to Judea.

17 P or tanto, cuando me propuse esto, ¿acaso obré precipitadamente? O lo que me propongo, ¿me lo propongo conforme a la carne, para que en mí haya al mismo tiempo el sí, sí, y el no, no?

Therefore, when I was planning this, did I do it lightly? Or the things I plan, do I plan according to the flesh, that with me there should be Yes, Yes, and No, No?

18 P ero como Dios es fiel, nuestra palabra a ustedes no es sí y no.

But as God is faithful, our word to you was not Yes and No.

19 P orque el Hijo de Dios, Cristo Jesús, que fue predicado entre ustedes por nosotros, por mí, Silvano y Timoteo, no fue sí y no, sino que ha sido sí en El.

For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes.

20 P ues tantas como sean las promesas de Dios, en El todas son sí. Por eso también por medio de El, es nuestro Amén (así sea), para la gloria de Dios por medio de nosotros.

For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.

21 A hora bien, el que nos confirma con ustedes en Cristo y el que nos ungió, es Dios,

Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,

22 q uien también nos selló y nos dio el Espíritu en nuestro corazón como garantía.

who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

23 P ero yo invoco a Dios como testigo sobre mi alma, que por consideración a ustedes no he vuelto a Corinto.

Moreover I call God as witness against my soul, that to spare you I came no more to Corinth.

24 N o es que queramos tener control de su fe, sino que somos colaboradores con ustedes para su gozo, porque es en la fe que permanecen firmes.

Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are fellow workers for your joy; for by faith you stand.
