1 A conteció que en uno de los días, cuando Jesús enseñaba a la gente en el templo y anunciaba (predicaba) el evangelio (las buenas nuevas), se enfrentaron a El los principales sacerdotes y los escribas con los ancianos,

Now it happened on one of those days, as He taught the people in the temple and preached the gospel, that the chief priests and the scribes, together with the elders, confronted Him

2 y Le dijeron: “Dinos, ¿con qué autoridad haces estas cosas, o quién Te dio esta autoridad?”

and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?”

3 J esús les respondió: “Yo también les haré una pregunta; quiero que Me digan:

But He answered and said to them, “I also will ask you one thing, and answer Me:

4 E l bautismo de Juan, ¿era del cielo o de los hombres?”

The baptism of John—was it from heaven or from men?”

5 Y ellos razonaban entre sí, diciendo: “Si decimos: ‘Del cielo,’ El dirá: ‘¿Por qué no le creyeron?’

And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ He will say, ‘Why then did you not believe him?’

6 P ero si decimos: ‘De los hombres,’ todo el pueblo nos matará a pedradas, pues están convencidos de que Juan era un profeta.”

But if we say, ‘From men,’ all the people will stone us, for they are persuaded that John was a prophet.”

7 Y respondieron que no sabían de dónde era.

So they answered that they did not know where it was from.

8 J esús entonces les dijo: “Tampoco Yo les diré con qué autoridad hago estas cosas.” Parábola de los Labradores Malvados

And Jesus said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.” The Parable of the Wicked Vinedressers

9 E ntonces comenzó a contar al pueblo esta parábola: “Un hombre plantó una viña, y la arrendó a labradores, y se fue de viaje por mucho tiempo.

Then He began to tell the people this parable: “A certain man planted a vineyard, leased it to vinedressers, and went into a far country for a long time.

10 A l tiempo de la vendimia envió un siervo a los labradores para que le dieran parte del fruto de la viña; pero los labradores, después de golpearlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

Now at vintage-time he sent a servant to the vinedressers, that they might give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the vinedressers beat him and sent him away empty-handed.

11 V olvió a enviar otro siervo; y ellos también a éste, después de golpearlo y ultrajarlo, lo enviaron con las manos vacías.

Again he sent another servant; and they beat him also, treated him shamefully, and sent him away empty-handed.

12 D espués envió un tercero; y a éste también lo hirieron y echaron fuera.

And again he sent a third; and they wounded him also and cast him out.

13 E ntonces el dueño de la viña dijo: ‘¿Qué haré? Enviaré a mi hijo amado; quizá a él lo respetarán.’

“Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I will send my beloved son. Probably they will respect him when they see him.’

14 P ero cuando los labradores lo vieron, razonaron entre sí, diciendo: ‘Este es el heredero; vamos a matarlo para que la heredad sea nuestra.’

But when the vinedressers saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, ‘This is the heir. Come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.’

15 Y arrojándolo fuera de la viña, lo mataron. Por tanto, ¿qué les hará el dueño de la viña?

So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

16 V endrá y destruirá a estos labradores, y dará la viña a otros.” Y cuando ellos oyeron esto, dijeron: “¡Nunca suceda tal cosa!”

He will come and destroy those vinedressers and give the vineyard to others.” And when they heard it they said, “Certainly not!”

17 P ero El, mirándolos fijamente, dijo: “Entonces, ¿qué quiere decir esto que está escrito: ‘ La piedra que desecharon los constructores, esa, en piedra angular se ha convertido ’?

Then He looked at them and said, “What then is this that is written: ‘The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone’?

18 T odo el que caiga sobre esa piedra será hecho pedazos; y sobre quien ella caiga, lo esparcirá como polvo.” El Pago del Impuesto al César

Whoever falls on that stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.”

19 L os escribas y los principales sacerdotes procuraron arrestar a Jesús en aquella misma hora, porque comprendieron que contra ellos había dicho esta parábola; pero temieron al pueblo.

And the chief priests and the scribes that very hour sought to lay hands on Him, but they feared the people —for they knew He had spoken this parable against them. The Pharisees: Is It Lawful to Pay Taxes to Caesar?

20 P ara sorprender a Jesús en alguna declaración, Lo acechaban, enviando espías que fingieran ser justos, y así Lo podrían entregar al poder y autoridad del gobernador.

So they watched Him, and sent spies who pretended to be righteous, that they might seize on His words, in order to deliver Him to the power and the authority of the governor.

21 Y Le preguntaron: “Maestro, sabemos que hablas y enseñas rectamente, y no Te guías por las apariencias, sino que enseñas con verdad el camino de Dios.

Then they asked Him, saying, “Teacher, we know that You say and teach rightly, and You do not show personal favoritism, but teach the way of God in truth:

22 ¿ Nos es lícito pagar impuesto al César, o no?”

Is it lawful for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

23 P ero Jesús, percibiendo su astucia, les dijo:

But He perceived their craftiness, and said to them, “Why do you test Me?

24 “ Traigan un denario (moneda Romana). ¿De quién es la imagen y la inscripción que lleva?” “Del César,” contestaron.

Show Me a denarius. Whose image and inscription does it have?” They answered and said, “Caesar’s.”

25 E ntonces Jesús les dijo: “Pues den al César lo que es del César, y a Dios lo que es de Dios.”

And He said to them, “Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.”

26 Y no podían sorprender a Jesús en palabra alguna delante del pueblo; y maravillados de Su respuesta, se callaron. Pregunta sobre la Resurrección

But they could not catch Him in His words in the presence of the people. And they marveled at His answer and kept silent. The Sadducees: What About the Resurrection?

27 A cercándose a El algunos de los Saduceos, los que dicen que no hay resurrección,

Then some of the Sadducees, who deny that there is a resurrection, came to Him and asked Him,

28 L e dijeron: “Maestro, Moisés nos escribió: ‘ Si el hermano de alguien muere, siendo casado, y no deja hijos, que su hermano tome la mujer y levante descendencia a su hermano.’

saying: “Teacher, Moses wrote to us that if a man’s brother dies, having a wife, and he dies without children, his brother should take his wife and raise up offspring for his brother.

29 E ran, pues, siete hermanos; y el primero tomó esposa, y murió sin dejar hijos;

Now there were seven brothers. And the first took a wife, and died without children.

30 y el segundo

And the second took her as wife, and he died childless.

31 y el tercero la tomaron; y de la misma manera también los siete, y murieron sin dejar hijos.

Then the third took her, and in like manner the seven also; and they left no children, and died.

32 P or último, murió también la mujer.

Last of all the woman died also.

33 P or tanto, en la resurrección, ¿de cuál de ellos será esposa la mujer? Porque los siete la tuvieron por mujer.”

Therefore, in the resurrection, whose wife does she become? For all seven had her as wife.”

34 J esús les respondió: “Los hijos de este siglo se casan y son dados en matrimonio.

Jesus answered and said to them, “The sons of this age marry and are given in marriage.

35 P ero los que son tenidos por dignos de alcanzar aquel siglo y la resurrección de entre los muertos, ni se casan ni son dados en matrimonio.

But those who are counted worthy to attain that age, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage;

36 T ampoco pueden morir, pues son como ángeles, y son hijos de Dios, siendo hijos de la resurrección.

nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and are sons of God, being sons of the resurrection.

37 P ero que los muertos resucitan, aun Moisés lo enseñó, en aquel pasaje sobre la zarza ardiendo, donde llama al Señor, el Dios de Abraham, y Dios de Isaac, y Dios de Jacob.

But even Moses showed in the burning bush passage that the dead are raised, when he called the Lord ‘the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.’

38 E l no es Dios de muertos, sino de vivos; porque todos viven para El.”

For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him.”

39 A lgunos de los escribas respondieron: “Maestro, bien has hablado.”

Then some of the scribes answered and said, “Teacher, You have spoken well.”

40 Y ya no se atrevían a hacer más preguntas. Jesús, Hijo y Señor de David

But after that they dared not question Him anymore. Jesus: How Can David Call His Descendant Lord?

41 E ntonces Jesús les preguntó: “¿Cómo es que dicen que el Cristo (el Mesías) es hijo de David ?

And He said to them, “How can they say that the Christ is the Son of David?

42 P ues David mismo dice en el Libro de los Salmos: El Señor dijo a mi Señor: ‘ Sientate a Mi diestra,

Now David himself said in the Book of Psalms: ‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,

43 h asta que ponga a Tus enemigos por estrado de Tus pies.’”

Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.”’

44 “ David, por tanto, Lo llama ‘Señor.’ ¿Cómo, pues, es El su hijo?” Advertencia contra los Escribas

Therefore David calls Him ‘Lord’; how is He then his Son?” Beware of the Scribes

45 M ientras todo el pueblo escuchaba, dijo a Sus discípulos:

Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples,

46 “ Cuídense de los escribas, a quienes les gusta andar con vestiduras largas, y son amantes de los saludos respetuosos en las plazas, y de ocupar los primeros asientos en las sinagogas y los lugares de honor en los banquetes;

“Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts,

47 q ue devoran las casas de las viudas, y por las apariencias hacen largas oraciones; ellos recibirán mayor condenación.”

who devour widows’ houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. These will receive greater condemnation.”
