1 T oda la asamblea de ellos se levantó, y llevaron a Jesús ante Pilato.

Then the whole multitude of them arose and led Him to Pilate.

2 Y comenzaron a acusar a Jesús, diciendo: “Hemos hallado que éste pervierte a nuestra nación, prohibiendo pagar impuesto al César, y diciendo que El mismo es Cristo (el Mesías), un Rey.”

And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”

3 P ilato preguntó a Jesús: “¿Eres Tú el Rey de los Judíos?” “Tú lo dices,” le respondió Jesús.

Then Pilate asked Him, saying, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered him and said, “ It is as you say.”

4 E ntonces Pilato dijo a los principales sacerdotes y a la multitud: “No encuentro delito en este hombre.”

So Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowd, “I find no fault in this Man.”

5 P ero ellos insistían, diciendo: “El alborota al pueblo, enseñando por toda Judea, comenzando desde Galilea hasta aquí.”

But they were the more fierce, saying, “He stirs up the people, teaching throughout all Judea, beginning from Galilee to this place.” Jesus Faces Herod

6 C uando Pilato oyó esto, preguntó si el hombre era Galileo.

When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked if the Man were a Galilean.

7 A l saber que Jesús pertenecía a la jurisdicción de Herodes (Antipas), Lo remitió a Herodes, que también estaba en Jerusalén en aquellos días. Jesús Ante Herodes

And as soon as he knew that He belonged to Herod’s jurisdiction, he sent Him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.

8 A l ver a Jesús, Herodes se alegró en gran manera, pues hacía mucho tiempo que Lo quería ver por lo que había oído hablar de El, y esperaba ver alguna señal que El hiciera.

Now when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceedingly glad; for he had desired for a long time to see Him, because he had heard many things about Him, and he hoped to see some miracle done by Him.

9 L o interrogó extensamente, pero Jesús nada le respondió.

Then he questioned Him with many words, but He answered him nothing.

10 L os principales sacerdotes y los escribas también estaban allí, y Lo acusaban con vehemencia.

And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused Him.

11 E ntonces Herodes, con sus soldados, después de tratar a Jesús con desprecio y burlarse de El, Lo vistieron con un espléndido manto. Después Herodes Lo envió de nuevo a Pilato.

Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked Him, arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

12 A quel mismo día Herodes y Pilato se hicieron amigos, pues antes habían estado enemistados el uno con el otro. Pilato Condena a Jesús

That very day Pilate and Herod became friends with each other, for previously they had been at enmity with each other. Taking the Place of Barabbas

13 P ilato convocó a los principales sacerdotes, a los gobernantes y al pueblo,

Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people,

14 y les dijo: “Me han presentado a este hombre como uno que incita al pueblo a la rebelión, pero habiéndolo interrogado yo delante de ustedes, no he hallado ningún delito en este hombre de las acusaciones que hacen contra El.

said to them, “You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. And indeed, having examined Him in your presence, I have found no fault in this Man concerning those things of which you accuse Him;

15 N i tampoco Herodes, pues nos Lo ha remitido de nuevo; ya que nada ha hecho que merezca la muerte.

no, neither did Herod, for I sent you back to him; and indeed nothing deserving of death has been done by Him.

16 P or tanto, Lo voy a castigar y después, Lo soltaré.”

I will therefore chastise Him and release Him ”

17 Y tenía obligación de soltarles un preso en cada fiesta.

(for it was necessary for him to release one to them at the feast).

18 P ero todos ellos gritaron a una: “¡ Fuera con éste, y suéltanos a Barrabás!”

And they all cried out at once, saying, “Away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas”—

19 B arrabás había sido echado en la cárcel por un levantamiento ocurrido en la ciudad, y por homicidio.

who had been thrown into prison for a certain rebellion made in the city, and for murder.

20 P ilato, queriendo soltar a Jesús, les volvió a hablar,

Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.

21 p ero ellos continuaban gritando: “¡Crucifícalo! ¡Crucifícalo!”

But they shouted, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify Him!”

22 Y él les dijo por tercera vez: “¿Por qué? ¿Qué mal ha hecho Este? No he hallado en El ningún delito digno de muerte; por tanto, Lo castigaré y Lo soltaré.”

Then he said to them the third time, “Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let Him go.”

23 P ero ellos insistían, pidiendo a grandes voces que fuera crucificado, y sus voces comenzaron a predominar.

But they were insistent, demanding with loud voices that He be crucified. And the voices of these men and of the chief priests prevailed.

24 E ntonces Pilato decidió que se les concediera su demanda.

So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.

25 Y soltó al que ellos pedían, al que había sido echado en la cárcel por insurrección y homicidio, pero entregó a Jesús a la voluntad de ellos. Jesús se Dirige al Calvario

And he released to them the one they requested, who for rebellion and murder had been thrown into prison; but he delivered Jesus to their will. The King on a Cross

26 C uando Lo llevaban, tomaron a un tal Simón de Cirene que venía del campo y le pusieron la cruz encima para que la llevara detrás de Jesús.

Now as they led Him away, they laid hold of a certain man, Simon a Cyrenian, who was coming from the country, and on him they laid the cross that he might bear it after Jesus.

27 Y seguía a Jesús una gran multitud del pueblo y de mujeres que lloraban y se lamentaban por El.

And a great multitude of the people followed Him, and women who also mourned and lamented Him.

28 P ero Jesús, volviéndose a ellas, dijo: “Hijas de Jerusalén, no lloren por Mí; lloren más bien por ustedes mismas y por sus hijos.

But Jesus, turning to them, said, “Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for Me, but weep for yourselves and for your children.

29 P orque vienen días en que dirán: ‘Dichosas (Bienaventuradas) las estériles, los vientres que nunca concibieron y los senos que nunca criaron.’

For indeed the days are coming in which they will say, ‘Blessed are the barren, wombs that never bore, and breasts which never nursed!’

30 E ntonces comenzarán a decir a los montes: ‘Caigan sobre nosotros;’ y a los collados: ‘Cubrannos.’

Then they will begin ‘to say to the mountains, “Fall on us!” and to the hills, “Cover us!”’

31 P orque si en el árbol verde hacen esto, ¿qué sucederá en el seco?”

For if they do these things in the green wood, what will be done in the dry?”

32 T ambién llevaban a otros dos, que eran malhechores, para ser muertos con El. La Crucifixión

There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death.

33 C uando llegaron al lugar llamado ‘La Calavera,’ crucificaron allí a Jesús y a los malhechores, uno a la derecha y otro a la izquierda.

And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left.

34 Y Jesús decía: “Padre, perdónalos, porque no saben lo que hacen.” Y los soldados echaron suertes, repartiéndose entre sí Sus vestidos.

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

35 E l pueblo estaba allí mirando; y aun los gobernantes se burlaban de El, diciendo: “A otros salvó; que se salve El mismo si Este es el Cristo (el Mesías) de Dios, Su Escogido.”

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”

36 L os soldados también se burlaban de Jesús, y se acercaban a El y Le ofrecían vinagre,

The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,

37 d iciendo: “Si Tú eres el Rey de los Judíos, sálvate a Ti mismo.”

and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”

38 H abía también una inscripción sobre El, que decía: “ESTE ES EL REY DE LOS JUDIOS.” Los Dos Malhechores

And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

39 U no de los malhechores que estaban colgados allí Le lanzaba insultos (blasfemias), diciendo: “¿No eres Tú el Cristo? ¡Sálvate a Ti mismo y a nosotros!”

Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.”

40 P ero el otro le contestó, y reprendiéndolo, dijo: “¿Ni siquiera temes tú a Dios a pesar de que estás bajo la misma condena?

But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation?

41 N osotros a la verdad, justamente, porque recibimos lo que merecemos por nuestros hechos; pero éste nada malo ha hecho.”

And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.”

42 Y añadió: “Jesús, acuérdate de mí cuando vengas en Tu reino.”

Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”

43 E ntonces Jesús le dijo: “En verdad te digo: hoy estarás conmigo en el paraíso.” Muerte de Jesús

And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” Jesus Dies on the Cross

44 E ra ya como la hora sexta (mediodía), cuando descendieron tinieblas sobre toda la tierra hasta la hora novena (3 p. m.),

Now it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

45 a l eclipsarse el sol. El velo del templo se rasgó en dos.

Then the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two.

46 Y Jesús, clamando a gran voz, dijo: “Padre, en Tus manos encomiendo Mi espiritu.” Habiendo dicho esto, expiró.

And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, ‘into Your hands I commit My spirit.’” Having said this, He breathed His last.

47 A l ver el centurión lo que había sucedido, glorificaba a Dios, diciendo: “Ciertamente, este hombre era inocente (justo).”

So when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, “Certainly this was a righteous Man!”

48 T odas las multitudes que se habían reunido para presenciar este espectáculo, al observar lo que había acontecido, se volvieron golpeándose el pecho.

And the whole crowd who came together to that sight, seeing what had been done, beat their breasts and returned.

49 P ero todos los conocidos de Jesús y las mujeres que Lo habían acompañado desde Galilea, estaban a cierta distancia viendo estas cosas. Sepultura de Jesús

But all His acquaintances, and the women who followed Him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things. Jesus Buried in Joseph’s Tomb

50 H abía un hombre llamado José, miembro del Concilio (Sanedrín), varón bueno y justo,

Now behold, there was a man named Joseph, a council member, a good and just man.

51 e l cual no había estado de acuerdo con el plan y el proceder de los demás, que era de Arimatea, ciudad de los Judíos, y que esperaba el reino de Dios.

He had not consented to their decision and deed. He was from Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who himself was also waiting for the kingdom of God.

52 E ste fue a Pilato y le pidió el cuerpo de Jesús,

This man went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus.

53 y bajándolo, lo envolvió en un lienzo de lino, y lo puso en un sepulcro excavado en la roca donde nadie había sido puesto todavía.

Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a tomb that was hewn out of the rock, where no one had ever lain before.

54 E ra el día de la preparación, y estaba para comenzar el día de reposo.

That day was the Preparation, and the Sabbath drew near.

55 Y las mujeres que habían venido con Jesús desde Galilea siguieron detrás, y vieron el sepulcro y cómo fue colocado Su cuerpo.

And the women who had come with Him from Galilee followed after, and they observed the tomb and how His body was laid.

56 C uando regresaron, prepararon especias aromáticas y perfumes. Y en el día de reposo descansaron según el mandamiento.

Then they returned and prepared spices and fragrant oils. And they rested on the Sabbath according to the commandment.
