1 C hrist, then, having suffered for us in flesh, do ye also arm yourselves with the same mind; for he that has suffered in flesh has done with sin,
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin,
2 n o longer to live the rest of time in flesh to men's lusts, but to God's will.
that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
3 F or the time past sufficient to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, lusts, wine-drinking, revels, drinkings, and unhallowed idolatries.
For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles—when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, and abominable idolatries.
4 W herein they think it strange that ye run not with to the same sink of corruption, speaking injuriously;
In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you.

They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 F or to this were the glad tidings preached to dead also, that they might be judged, as regards men, after flesh, but live, as regards God, after Spirit.
For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. Serving for God’s Glory

11 I f any one speak—as oracles of God; if any one minister—as of strength which God supplies; that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the might for the ages of ages. Amen.
If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. Suffering for God’s Glory
12 B eloved, take not strange the fire which has taken place amongst you for trial, as if a strange thing was happening to you;
Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you;
13 b ut as ye have share in the sufferings of Christ, rejoice, that in the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exultation.
but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.

16 b ut if as a christian, let him not be ashamed, but glorify God in this name.
Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter.
17 F or the time of having the judgment begin from the house of God; but if first from us, what the end of those who obey not the glad tidings of God?
For the time has come for judgment to begin at the house of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?
18 A nd if the righteous is difficultly saved, where shall the impious and sinner appear?
Now “If the righteous one is scarcely saved, Where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?”
19 W herefore also let them who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing to a faithful Creator.
Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.
