1 O give thanks unto Jehovah; For he is good; For his lovingkindness endureth for ever.

Lăudaţi pe Domnul, căci este bun, căci în veac ţine îndurarea Lui!``

2 L et the redeemed of Jehovah say so, Whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the adversary,

Aşa să zică cei răscumpăraţi de Domnul, pe cari i -a izbăvit El din mîna vrăjmaşului,

3 A nd gathered out of the lands, From the east and from the west, From the north and from the south.

şi pe cari i -a strîns din toate ţările: dela răsărit şi dela apus, dela miazănoapte şi dela mare.

4 T hey wandered in the wilderness in a desert way; They found no city of habitation.

Ei pribegeau prin pustie, umblau pe căi neumblate, şi nu găseau nicio cetate, unde să poată locui.

5 H ungry and thirsty, Their soul fainted in them.

Sufereau de foame şi de sete; le tînjea sufletul în ei.

6 T hen they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, And he delivered them out of their distresses,

Atunci, în strîmtorarea lor au strigat către Domnul, şi El i -a izbăvit din necazurile lor;

7 H e led them also by a straight way, That they might go to a city of habitation.

i -a călăuzit pe drumul cel drept, ca să ajungă într'o cetate de locuit.

8 O h that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

O, de ar lăuda oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea lui, şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

9 F or he satisfieth the longing soul, And the hungry soul he filleth with good.

Căci el a potolit setea sufletului însetat, şi a umplut de bunătăţi sufletul flămînd.

10 S uch as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, Being bound in affliction and iron,

Cei ce şedeau în întunerec şi umbra morţii, trăiau legaţi în ticăloşie şi în fiare,

11 B ecause they rebelled against the words of God, And contemned the counsel of the Most High:

pentrucă se răsvrătiseră împotriva cuvintelor lui Dumnezeu, pentrucă nesocotiseră sfatul Celui Prea Înalt.

12 T herefore he brought down their heart with labor; They fell down, and there was none to help.

El le -a smerit inima prin suferinţă: au căzut, şi nimeni nu i -a ajutat.

13 T hen they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, And he saved them out of their distresses.

Atunci, în strîmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i -a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

14 H e brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, And brake their bonds in sunder.

I -a scos din întunerec şi din umbra morţii, şi le -a rupt legăturile.

15 O h that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

O, de ar lăuda oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui, şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

16 F or he hath broken the gates of brass, And cut the bars of iron in sunder.

Căci El a sfărîmat porţi de aramă, şi a rupt zăvoare de fier.

17 F ools because of their transgression, And because of their iniquities, are afflicted.

Nebunii, prin purtarea lor vinovată, şi prin nelegiuirile lor, ajunseseră nenorociţi.

18 T heir soul abhorreth all manner of food; And they draw near unto the gates of death.

Sufletul lor se desgustase de orice hrană, şi erau lîngă porţile morţii.

19 T hen they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, And he saveth them out of their distresses.

Atunci, în strîmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i -a izbăvit din necazurile lor;

20 H e sendeth his word, and healeth them, And delivereth them from their destructions.

a trimes cuvîntul Său şi i -a tămăduit, şi i -a scăpat de groapă.

21 O h that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

O, de ar lăuda oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea Lui, şi pentu minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

22 A nd let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, And declare his works with singing.

Să -I aducă jertfe de mulţămiri, şi să vestească lucrările Lui cu strigăte de bucurie.

23 T hey that go down to the sea in ships, That do business in great waters;

Ceice se pogorîseră pe mare în corăbii, şi făceau negoţ pe apele cele mari,

24 T hese see the works of Jehovah, And his wonders in the deep.

aceia au văzut lucrările Domnului şi minunile Lui în mijlocul adîncului.

25 F or he commandeth, and raiseth the stormy wind, Which lifteth up the waves thereof.

El a zis, şi a pus să sufle furtuna, care a ridicat valurile mării.

26 T hey mount up to the heavens, they go down again to the depths: Their soul melteth away because of trouble.

Se suiau spre ceruri, se pogorau în adînc; sufletul le era perdut în faţa primejdiei.

27 T hey reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits' end.

Apucaţi de ameţeală, se clătinau ca un om beat, şi zădarnică le era toată iscusinţa.

28 T hen they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, And he bringeth them out of their distresses.

Atunci, în strîmtorarea lor, au strigat către Domnul, şi El i -a izbăvit din necazurile lor.

29 H e maketh the storm a calm, So that the waves thereof are still.

A oprit furtuna, a adus liniştea, şi valurile s'au potolit.

30 T hen are they glad because they are quiet; So he bringeth them unto their desired haven.

Ei s'au bucurat că valurile s'au liniştit, şi Domnul i -a dus în limanul dorit.

31 O h that men would praise Jehovah for his lovingkindness, And for his wonderful works to the children of men!

O, de ar lăuda oamenii pe Domnul pentru bunătatea lui, şi pentru minunile Lui faţă de fiii oamenilor!

32 L et them exalt him also in the assembly of the people, And praise him in the seat of the elders.

Să -L înalţe în adunarea poporului, şi să -L laude în adunarea bătrînilor!

33 H e turneth rivers into a wilderness, And watersprings into a thirsty ground;

El preface rîurile în pustiu, şi izvoare de apă în pămînt uscat,

34 A fruitful land into a salt desert, For the wickedness of them that dwell therein.

ţara roditoare în ţară sărată, din pricina răutăţii locuitorilor ei.

35 H e turneth a wilderness into a pool of water, And a dry land into watersprings.

Tot El preface pustiul în iaz, şi pămîntul uscat în izvoare de ape.

36 A nd there he maketh the hungry to dwell, That they may prepare a city of habitation,

Aşează acolo pe cei flămînzi, şi ei întemeiază o cetate ca să locuiască în ea;

37 A nd sow fields, and plant vineyards, And get them fruits of increase.

însămînţează ogoare, sădesc vii, şi -i culeg roadele.

38 H e blesseth them also, so that they are multiplied greatly; And he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.

El îi binecuvintează, şi se înmulţesc nespus, şi nu le împuţinează vitele.

39 A gain, they are diminished and bowed down Through oppression, trouble, and sorrow.

Dacă sînt împuţinaţi şi apăsaţi prin asuprire, nenorocire şi suferinţă,

40 H e poureth contempt upon princes, And causeth them to wander in the waste, where there is no way.

El varsă dispreţul peste cei mari, şi -i face să pribegească prin pustiuri fără drum,

41 Y et setteth he the needy on high from affliction, And maketh him families like a flock.

dar ridică pe cel lipsit, izbăveşte pe cel nevoiaş, şi înmulţeşte familiile ca pe nişte turme.

42 T he upright shall see it, and be glad; And all iniquity shall stop her mouth.

Oamenii fără prihană văd lucrul acesta şi se bucură, şi orice nelegiuire îşi închide gura!``

43 W hoso is wise will give heed to these things; And they will consider the lovingkindnesses of Jehovah. Psalm 108 A Song, A Psalm of David.

Cine este înţelept, să ia seama la aceste lucruri, şi să fie cu luare aminte la bunătăţile Domnului.
