1 S end ye the lambs for the ruler of the land from Selah to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

Trimeteţi miei cîrmuitorului ţării, trimeteţi -i din Sela, prin pustie, la muntele fiicei Sionului!

2 F or it shall be that, as wandering birds, as a scattered nest, so shall the daughters of Moab be at the fords of the Arnon.

Ca o pasăre fugară, zgurnită din cuib, aşa vor fi fiicele Moabului, la trecerea Arnonului. -

3 G ive counsel, execute justice; make thy shade as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; betray not the fugitive.

Şi vor zice:,, Sfătuieşte, mijloceşte, acopere-ne ziua namiaza mare cu umbra ta, ca noaptea neagră, ascunde pe ceice sînt urmăriţi, nu da pe faţă pe cei fugiţi!

4 L et mine outcasts dwell with thee; as for Moab, be thou a covert to him from the face of the destroyer. For the extortioner is brought to nought, destruction ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

Lasă să locuiască pentru o vreme la tine cei goniţi din Moab, fii un loc de scăpare pentru ei împotriva pustiitorului! Căci apăsarea va înceta, pustiirea se va sfîrşi, celce calcă ţara în picioare va pieri.

5 A nd a throne shall be established in lovingkindness; and one shall sit thereon in truth, in the tent of David, judging, and seeking justice, and swift to do righteousness.

Şi atunci un scaun de domnie se va întări prin îndurare; şi se va vedea şezînd cu credincioşie, în casa lui David, un judecător, prieten al dreptului şi plin de rîvnă pentru dreptate. -

6 W e have heard of the pride of Moab, that he is very proud; even of his arrogancy, and his pride, and his wrath; his boastings are nought.

Auzim îngîmfarea mîndrului Moab, fudulia şi fala lui, trufia şi lăudăroşia lui.``

7 T herefore shall Moab wail for Moab, every one shall wail: for the raisin-cakes of Kir-hareseth shall ye mourn, utterly stricken.

Deaceea geme Moabul pentru Moab, toţi gem; suspinaţi pe dărîmăturile Chir-Haresetului, adînc mîhniţi;

8 F or the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah; the lords of the nations have broken down the choice branches thereof, which reached even unto Jazer, which wandered into the wilderness; its shoots were spread abroad, they passed over the sea.

căci cîmpiile Hesbonului lîncezesc; stăpînii neamurilor au sfărîmat butucii viei din Sibma, cari se întindeau pînă la Iaezer, şi se încîlceau prin pustie: mlădiţele ei se întindeau şi treceau dincolo de mare.

9 T herefore I will weep with the weeping of Jazer for the vine of Sibmah; I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for upon thy summer fruits and upon thy harvest the battle shout is fallen.

Deaceea plîng pentru via din Sibma, ca pentru Iaezer; vă ud cu lacrămile mele, Hesbonule şi Eleale! Căci peste culesul roadelor voastre şi peste secerişul vostru a căzut un strigăt de război!

10 A nd gladness is taken away, and joy out of the fruitful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither joyful noise: no treader shall tread out wine in the presses; I have made the vintage shout to cease.

S'a dus bucuria şi veselia din cîmpii! Şi în vii, nu mai sînt cîntece, nu mai sînt veselii! Nimeni nu mai calcă vinul în teascuri. -,, Am făcut să înceteze strigătele de bucurie la cules.

11 W herefore my heart soundeth like a harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kir-heres.

Deaceea îmi plînge sufletul pentru Moab ca o arfă şi inima pentru Chir-Hares;

12 A nd it shall come to pass, when Moab presenteth himself, when he wearieth himself upon the high place, and shall come to his sanctuary to pray, that he shall not prevail.

şi cînd se va arăta Moabul, obosindu-se pe înălţimi şi va intra în locaşul său cel sfînt să se roage, nu va putea să capete nimic!`` -

13 T his is the word that Jehovah spake concerning Moab in time past.

Acesta este cuvîntul, pe care l -a rostit Domnul de multă vreme asupra Moabului.

14 B ut now Jehovah hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of a hireling, the glory of Moab shall be brought into contempt, with all his great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and of no account.

Iar acum Domnul vorbeşte, şi zice:,,În trei ani, ca anii unui simbriaş, slava Moabului va fi dispreţuită, împreună cu toată această mare mulţime; şi ce va rămînea, va fi puţin lucru, aproape nimic.``
