1 A nd all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.

Tot poporul din Iuda a luat pe Ozia, care era în vîrstă de şasesprezece ani, şi l -a pus împărat în locul tatălui său Amaţia.

2 H e built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.

Ozia a întărit Elotul şi l -a adus iarăş supt stăpînirea lui Iuda, dupăce a adormit împăratul cu părinţii săi.

3 S ixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign; and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem: and his mother's name was Jechiliah, of Jerusalem.

Ozia avea şasesprezece ani cînd a ajuns împărat, şi a domnit cincizeci şi doi de ani la Ierusalim. Mamă-sa se chema Iecolia, din Ierusalim.

4 A nd he did that which was right in the eyes of Jehovah, according to all that his father Amaziah had done.

El a făcut ce este bine înaintea Domnului, întocmai cum făcuse tatăl său Amaţia.

5 A nd he set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the vision of God: and as long as he sought Jehovah, God made him to prosper.

A căutat pe Dumnezeu în timpul vieţii lui Zaharia, care pricepea vedeniile lui Dumnezeu. Şi în timpul cînd a căutat pe Domnul, Dumnezeu l -a făcut să propăşească.

6 A nd he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod; and he built cities in the country of Ashdod, and among the Philistines.

A pornit cu război împotriva Filistenilor. A dărîmat zidurile Gatului, zidurile Iabnei, şi zidurile Asdodului, şi a zidit cetăţi în ţinutul Asdodului, şi între Filisteni.

7 A nd God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gur-baal, and the Meunim.

Dumnezeu l -a ajutat împotriva Filistenilor, împotriva Arabilor cari locuiau la Gur-Baal, şi împotriva Maoniţilor.

8 A nd the Ammonites gave tribute to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entrance of Egypt; for he waxed exceeding strong.

Amoniţii aduceau daruri lui Ozia, şi faima lui s'a întins pănă la hotarele Egiptului, căci a ajuns foarte puternic.

9 M oreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.

Ozia a zidit turnuri la Ierusalim pe poarta unghiului, pe poarta văii, şi pe unghiu, şi le -a întărit.

10 A nd he built towers in the wilderness, and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much cattle; in the lowland also, and in the plain: and he had husbandmen and vinedressers in the mountains and in the fruitful fields; for he loved husbandry.

A zidit turnuri în pustie, şi a săpat multe fîntîni, pentru că avea multe turme în văi şi în cîmpie, şi plugari şi vieri în munţi şi la Carmel, căci îi plăcea lucrarea pămîntului.

11 M oreover Uzziah had an army of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their reckoning made by Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the officer, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king's captains.

Ozia avea o oaste de ostaşi cari mergeau la război în cete, socotite după numărătoarea făcută de logofătul Ieiel şi dregătorul Maaseia, şi puse supt poruncile lui Hanania, una din căpeteniile împăratului.

12 T he whole number of the heads of fathers' houses, even the mighty men of valor, was two thousand and six hundred.

Tot numărul capilor caselor părinteşti, al vitejilor, era de două mii şase sute.

13 A nd under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.

Ei porunceau peste o oaste de trei sute şapte mii cinci sute de ostaşi, în stare să ajute pe împărat împotriva vrăjmaşului.

14 A nd Uzziah prepared for them, even for all the host, shields, and spears, and helmets, and coats of mail, and bows, and stones for slinging.

Ozia le -a dat pentru toată oştirea scuturi, suliţi, coifuri, platoşe, arcuri şi prăştii.

15 A nd he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by skilful men, to be on the towers and upon the battlements, wherewith to shoot arrows and great stones. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.

A făcut la Ierusalim maşini iscodite de un meşter, cari aveau să fie aşezate pe turnuri şi pe unghiuri, ca să arunce săgeţi şi pietre mari. Faima lui s'a întins pînă departe, căci a fost ajutat în chip minunat pînă ce a ajuns foarte puternic.

16 B ut when he was strong, his heart was lifted up, so that he did corruptly, and he trespassed against Jehovah his God; for he went into the temple of Jehovah to burn incense upon the altar of incense.

Dar cînd a ajuns puternic, inima i s'a înălţat şi l -a dus la peire. A păcătuit împotriva Domnului, Dumnezeului său, intrînd în Templul Domnului ca să ardă tămîie pe altarul tămîierii.

17 A nd Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of Jehovah, that were valiant men:

Preotul Azaria a intrat după el, cu optzeci de preoţi ai Domnului, oameni de inimă,

18 a nd they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It pertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto Jehovah, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honor from Jehovah God.

cari s'au împotrivit împăratului Ozia, şi i-au zis:,, N'ai drept, Ozia, să aduci tămîie Domnului! Dreptul acesta îl au preoţii, fiii lui Aaron, cari au fost sfinţiţi ca s'o aducă. Ieşi din sfîntul locaş, căci faci un păcat! Şi lucrul acesta nu-ţi va face cinste înaintea Domnului Dumnezeu.``

19 T hen Uzziah was wroth; and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense; and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy brake forth in his forehead before the priests in the house of Jehovah, beside the altar of incense.

Ozia s'a mîniat. În mînă avea o cădelniţă. Şi cum s'a mîniat pe preoţi, i -a izbucnit lepra pe frunte, în faţa preoţilor, în Casa Domnului, lîngă altarul tămîierii.

20 A nd Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out quickly from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because Jehovah had smitten him.

Marele preot Azaria şi toţi preoţii şi-au îndreptat privirile spre el, şi iată că era plin de lepră pe frunte. L-au scos repede afară, şi el însuş s'a grăbit să iasă, pentrucă Domnul îl lovise.

21 A nd Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of Jehovah: and Jotham his son was over the king's house, judging the people of the land.

Împăratul Ozia a fost lepros pînă în ziua morţii, şi a locuit într'o casă deosebită ca lepros, căci a fost izgonit din Casa Domnului. Şi fiul său Iotam era în fruntea casei împăratului şi judeca poporul ţării.

22 N ow the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.

Celelalte fapte ale lui Ozia, cele dintîi şi cele de pe urmă, au fost scrise de Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, proorocul.

23 S o Uzziah slept with his fathers; and they buried him with his fathers in the field of burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.

Ozia a adormit cu părinţii săi. Şi l-au îngropat cu părinţii săi în ogorul de înmormîntare al împăraţilor, căci ziceau:,, Este lepros.`` În locul lui, a domnit fiul său Iotam.
