1 I f it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, Let Israel now say,

2 I f it had not been Jehovah who was on our side, When men rose up against us;

de n'ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, cînd s'au ridicat oamenii împotriva noastră,

3 T hen they had swallowed us up alive, When their wrath was kindled against us;

ne-ar fi înghiţit de vii, cînd li s'a aprins mînia împotriva noastră;

4 T hen the waters had overwhelmed us, The stream had gone over our soul;

ne-ar fi înecat apele, ar fi trecut rîurile peste sufletul nostru;

5 T hen the proud waters had gone over our soul.

ar fi trecut peste sufletul nostru valurile năpraznice.

6 B lessed be Jehovah, Who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

Binecuvîntat să fie Domnul, care nu ne -a dat pradă dinţilor lor!

7 O ur soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: The snare is broken, and we are escaped.

Sufletul ne -a scăpat ca pasărea din laţul păsărarului; laţul s'a rupt, şi noi am scăpat.

8 O ur help is in the name of Jehovah, Who made heaven and earth.

Ajutorul nostru este în Numele Domnului, care a făcut cerurile şi pămîntul.
