1 A nd there came one of the seven angels that had the seven bowls, and spake with me, saying, Come hither, I will show thee the judgment of the great harlot that sitteth upon many waters;

Apoi unul din cei şapte îngeri, cari ţineau cele şapte potire, a venit de a vorbit cu mine, şi mi -a zis:,, Vino să-ţi arăt judecata curvei celei mari, care şade pe ape mari.

2 w ith whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and they that dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wine of her fornication.

Cu ea au curvit împăraţii pămîntului; şi locuitorii pămîntului s'au îmbătat de vinul curviei ei!``

3 A nd he carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness: and I saw a woman sitting upon a scarlet-colored beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Şi m'a dus, în Duhul, într'o pustie. Şi am văzut o femeie, şezînd pe o fiară de coloare stacojie, plină cu nume de hulă, şi avea şapte capete şi zece coarne.

4 A nd the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations, even the unclean things of her fornication,

Femeia aceasta era îmbrăcată cu purpură şi stacojiu; era împodobită cu aur, cu pietre scumpe şi cu mărgăritare. Ţinea în mînă un potir de aur, plin de spurcăciuni şi de necurăţiile curviei ei.

5 a nd upon her forehead a name written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.

Pe frunte purta scris un nume, o taină:,, Babilonul cel mare, mama curvelor şi spurcăciunilor pămîntului.``

6 A nd I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I wondered with a great wonder.

Şi am văzut pe femeia aceasta, îmbătată de sîngele sfinţilor şi de sîngele mucenicilor lui Isus. Cînd am văzut -o, m'am mirat minune mare.

7 A nd the angel said unto me, Wherefore didst thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and the ten horns.

Şi îngerul mi -a zis:,, De ce te miri?`` Îţi voi spune taina acestei femei şi a fiarei care o poartă, şi care are cele şapte capete şi cele zece coarne.

8 T he beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss, and to go into perdition. And they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, they whose name hath not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast, how that he was, and is not, and shall come.

Fiara, pe care ai văzut -o, era, şi nu mai este. Ea are să se ridice din Adînc, şi are să se ducă la perzare. Şi locuitorii pămîntului, ale căror nume n'au fost scrise dela întemeierea lumii în cartea vieţii, se vor mira cînd vor vedea că fiara era, nu mai este, şi va veni. -

9 H ere is the mind that hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth:

Aici este mintea plină de înţelepciune. -Cele şapte capete sînt şapte munţi, pe cari şade femeia.

10 a nd they are seven kings; the five are fallen, the one is, the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a little while.

Sînt şi şapte împăraţi: cinci au căzut, unul este, celalt n'a venit încă, şi cînd va veni, el va rămînea puţină vreme.

11 A nd the beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goeth into perdition.

Şi fiara, care era, şi nu mai este, ea însăş este al optulea împărat: este din numărul celor şapte, şi merge la perzare.

12 A nd the ten horns that thou sawest are ten kings, who have received no kingdom as yet; but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

Cele zece coarne, pe cari le-ai văzut, sînt zece împăraţi, cari n'au primit încă împărăţia, ci vor primi putere împărătească timp de un ceas împreună cu fiara.

13 T hese have one mind, and they give their power and authority unto the beast.

Toţi au acelaş gînd, şi dau fiarei puterea şi stăpînirea lor.

14 T hese shall war against the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings; and they also shall overcome that are with him, called and chosen and faithful.

Ei se vor război cu Mielul; dar Mielul îi va birui, pentrucă El este Domnul domnilor şi Împăratul împăraţilor. Şi cei chemaţi, aleşi şi credincioşi, cari sînt cu El, de asemenea îi vor birui.

15 A nd he saith unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the harlot sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and nations, and tongues.

Apoi mi -a zis:,, Apele, pe cari le-ai văzut, pe cari şade curva, sînt noroade, gloate, neamuri şi limbi.

16 A nd the ten horns which thou sawest, and the beast, these shall hate the harlot, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and shall burn her utterly with fire.

Cele zece coarne, pe cari le-ai văzut, şi fiara, vor urî pe curvă, o vor pustii, şi o vor lăsa goală. Carnea i -o vor mînca, şi o vor arde cu foc.

17 F or God did put in their hearts to do his mind, and to come to one mind, and to give their kingdom unto the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

Căci Dumnezeu le -a pus în inimă să -I aducă la îndeplinire planul Lui: să se învoiască pe deplin şi să dea fiarei stăpînirea lor împărătească, pînă se vor îndeplini cuvintele lui Dumnezeu.

18 A nd the woman whom thou sawest is the great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

Şi femeia, pe care ai văzut -o, este cetatea cea mare, care are stăpînire peste împăraţii pămîntului.``
