1 N ow a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

Един човек на име Лазар, от Витания, от селото на Мария и на сестра ѝ Марта, беше болен.

2 ( It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)

А Мария, чийто брат Лазар беше болен, беше онази, която помаза Господа с миро и избърса нозете Му с косата си.

3 T herefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.

И така, сестрите пратиха до Исус да Му кажат: Господи, ето този, когото обичаш, е болен.

4 W hen Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

А Исус, като чу това, каза: Тази болест не е за умиране, но е за Божията слава, за да се прослави Божият Син чрез нея.

5 N ow Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.

А Исус обичаше Марта и сестра ѝ, и Лазар.

6 W hen he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.

След като чу, че бил болен, остана два дни на мястото, където се намираше.

7 T hen after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.

А след това каза на учениците: Да отидем пак в Юдея.

8 H is disciples say unto him, Master, the Jews of late sought to stone thee; and goest thou thither again?

Учениците Му казаха: Учителю, току-що юдеите искаха да Те убият с камъни и пак ли там отиваш?

9 J esus answered, Are there not twelve hours in the day? If any man walk in the day, he stumbleth not, because he seeth the light of this world.

Исус отговори: Нали има дванадесет часа в деня? Ако някой ходи през деня, не се препъва, защото вижда светлината на този свят.

10 B ut if a man walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is no light in him.

Но ако някой ходи през нощта, препъва се, защото светлината не е в него.

11 T hese things said he: and after that he saith unto them, Our friend Lazarus sleepeth; but I go, that I may awake him out of sleep.

Това изговори и след това им каза: Нашият приятел Лазар заспа, но Аз отивам да го събудя.

12 T hen said his disciples, Lord, if he sleep, he shall do well.

Тогава учениците Му казаха: Господи, ако е заспал, ще оздравее.

13 H owbeit Jesus spake of his death: but they thought that he had spoken of taking of rest in sleep.

Но Исус бе говорил за смъртта му, а те мислеха, че говори за потъване в сън.

14 T hen said Jesus unto them plainly, Lazarus is dead.

Тогава Исус им каза ясно: Лазар умря.

15 A nd I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, to the intent ye may believe; nevertheless let us go unto him.

Но се радвам за вас, че не бяхте там, за да повярвате; но нека да отидем при него.

16 T hen said Thomas, which is called Didymus, unto his fellowdisciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

Тогава Тома, наречен Близнак, каза на другите ученици: Да отидем и ние, за да умрем с Него.

17 T hen when Jesus came, he found that he had lain in the grave four days already.

И така, като дойде, Исус научи, че Лазар беше вече от четири дни в гроба.

18 N ow Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:

А Витания беше близо до Йерусалим, на около петнадесет стадия;

19 A nd many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

и много от юдеите бяха при Марта и Мария, за да ги утешават за смъртта на брат им.

20 T hen Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.

А Марта, като чу, че идва Исус, отиде да Го посрещне; а Мария остана в къщи.

21 T hen said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

Тогава Марта каза на Исус: Господи, ако Ти беше тук, брат ми нямаше да умре.

22 B ut I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.

Но и сега зная, че каквото и да поискаш от Бога, Бог ще Ти даде.

23 J esus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.

Исус ѝ каза: Брат ти ще възкръсне.

24 M artha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.

Марта Му каза: Зная, че ще възкръсне при възкресението в последния ден.

25 J esus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

Исус ѝ каза: Аз съм възкресението и животът. Който вярва в Мене, макар и да умре, ще живее.

26 A nd whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Никой, който е жив и вярва в Мене, няма да умре вовеки. Вярваш ли в това?

27 S he saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

Тя Му отговори: Да, Господи, вярвам, че Ти си Христос, Божият Син, Който идва в света.

28 A nd when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.

И като каза това, отиде и скришом повика сестра си Мария, като ѝ каза: Учителят е дошъл и те вика.

29 A s soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.

И тя, щом чу това, стана бързо и отиде при Него.

30 N ow Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.

Исус още не беше дошъл в селото, а стоеше на мястото, където Го посрещна Марта.

31 T he Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.

А юдеите, които бяха с Мария в къщи и я утешаваха, като видяха, че тя стана бързо и излезе, отидоха след нея, като мислеха, че отива на гроба да плаче там.

32 T hen when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

И така, Мария, като стигна там, където беше Исус, и Го видя, падна пред нозете Му и Му каза: Господи, ако Ти беше тук, брат ми нямаше да умре.

33 W hen Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.

Исус, като я видя, че плаче и че юдеите, които я придружаваха, също плачат, се потресе в духа Си и се смути.

34 A nd said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.

И попита: Къде го положихте? Казаха Му: Господи, ела и виж.

35 J esus wept.

Исус се просълзи.

36 T hen said the Jews, Behold how he loved him!

Затова юдеите си казаха: Виж колко го е обичал!

37 A nd some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?

А някои от тях казаха: Не можеше ли Този, Който отвори очите на слепеца, да направи така, че и Лазар да не умре?

38 J esus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it.

А Исус, все още натъжен в Себе Си, дойде на гроба. Това беше пещера и на нея беше привален камък.

39 J esus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days.

Исус каза: Отвалете камъка. Марта, сестрата на умрелия, Му каза: Господи, смърди вече, защото от четири дни е в гроба.

40 J esus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?

Исус ѝ каза: Не ти ли казах, че ако повярваш, ще видиш Божията слава?

41 T hen they took away the stone from the place where the dead was laid. And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

И така, отместиха камъка. А Исус повдигна очи нагоре и каза: Отче, благодаря Ти, че Ме послуша.

42 A nd I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people which stand by I said it, that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

Аз знаех, че Ти винаги Ме слушаш; но това казах заради хората, които стоят наоколо, за да повярват, че Ти си Ме пратил.

43 A nd when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

Като изрече това, извика със силен глас: Лазаре, излез навън!

44 A nd he that was dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

Умрелият излезе, с ръце и крака повити в саван и лицето му забрадено с кърпа. Исус им каза: Разповийте го и го оставете да си отиде. Заговорът за убийството на Исус Христос

45 T hen many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.

Тогава много от юдеите, които бяха дошли при Мария и видяха това, което направи Исус, повярваха в Него.

46 B ut some of them went their ways to the Pharisees, and told them what things Jesus had done.

А някои от тях отидоха при фарисеите и им казаха какво бе извършил Исус.

47 T hen gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.

Затова главните свещеници и фарисеите свикаха съвет и си казваха: Какво правим ние? Този Човек върши много знамения.

48 I f we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.

Ако Го оставим така, всички ще повярват в Него; и римляните, като дойдат, ще ограбят и храма ни, и народа ни.

49 A nd one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,

А един от тях на име Каяфа, който беше първосвещеник през тази година, им каза: Вие нищо не знаете,

50 N or consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

нито вземате предвид, че за нас е по-добре един човек да умре за народа, отколкото да загине целият народ.

51 A nd this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;

Това не каза от себе си, но като беше първосвещеник през онази година, предсказа, че Исус ще умре за народа,

52 A nd not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.

и не само за народа, но и за да събере в едно разпръснатите Божии чеда.

53 T hen from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.

И така, от онзи ден те се съвещаваха да Го убият.

54 J esus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.

Затова Исус вече не ходеше явно между юдеите, а оттам отиде в страната близо до пустинята, в един град, наречен Ефраим, и остана там с учениците.

55 A nd the Jews' passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country up to Jerusalem before the passover, to purify themselves.

А наближаваше юдейската Пасха; и мнозина от провинцията отидоха в Йерусалим преди Пасхата, за да се очистят.

56 T hen sought they for Jesus, and spake among themselves, as they stood in the temple, What think ye, that he will not come to the feast?

И така, те търсеха Исус и като стояха в храма, разискваха помежду си: Как мислите? Няма ли да дойде на празника?

57 N ow both the chief priests and the Pharisees had given a commandment, that, if any man knew where he were, he should shew it, that they might take him.

А главните свещеници и фарисеите бяха издали заповед, че ако някой узнае къде е Той, да ги извести, за да Го заловят.
