1 T hen came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

После пристигна и в Дервия и Листра; и ето, там имаше един ученик на име Тимотей, син на една повярвала еврейка, а баща му беше грък.

2 W hich was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

Този ученик имаше характер, одобрен от братята в Листра и Икония.

3 H im would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

Него Павел пожела да води със себе си, затова го взе и го обряза заради юдеите, които бяха по онези места; понеже всички знаеха, че баща му беше грък.

4 A nd as they went through the cities, they delivered them the decrees for to keep, that were ordained of the apostles and elders which were at Jerusalem.

И като ходиха по градовете, предаваха им наредбите, определени от апостолите и презвитерите в Йерусалим, за да ги пазят.

5 A nd so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.

Така църквите се утвърждаваха във вярата и от ден на ден се умножаваха числено. Павел отива в Европа

6 N ow when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,

И апостолите преминаха Фригийската и Галатийската земя, като им бе забранено от Святия Дух да проповядват словото в Азия;

7 A fter they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

и като дойдоха до Мизия, опитаха се да отидат във Витиния, но Исусовият Дух не им позволи.

8 A nd they passing by Mysia came down to Troas.

И така, като отминаха Мизия, слязоха в Троада.

9 A nd a vision appeared to Paul in the night; There stood a man of Macedonia, and prayed him, saying, Come over into Macedonia, and help us.

А през нощта на Павел се яви видение: един македонец стоеше и му се молеше: Ела в Македония и ни помогни.

10 A nd after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.

И като видя видението, веднага потърсихме случай да отидем в Македония, като дойдохме до заключение, че Бог ни призовава да проповядваме благовестието на тях. Проповедта във Филипи

11 T herefore loosing from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;

И така, като отплавахме от Троада, отправихме се право към Самотраки, а на следващия ден - към Неапол,

12 A nd from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.

и оттам към Филипи, който е главният град на онази част от Македония и римска колония. В този град престояхме няколко дни.

13 A nd on the sabbath we went out of the city by a river side, where prayer was wont to be made; and we sat down, and spake unto the women which resorted thither.

А в събота излязохме вън от портата край една река, където предполагахме, че става молитва; и седнахме и говорихме на събраните там жени.

14 A nd a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.

И някоя си богобоязлива жена на име Лидия, от град Тиатир, продавачка на морави платове, слушаше и Господ отвори сърцето ѝ да внимава в това, което Павел говореше.

15 A nd when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us.

И като се кръсти тя и домът ѝ, ни помоли: Ако ме признавате за вярна на Господа, влезте в къщата ми и останете. И ни принуди. Апостолите Павел и Сила в затвора

16 A nd it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

И един ден, като отивахме на молитвеното място, срещна ни една слугиня, която имаше предсказвателен дух и чрез врачуването си носеше голяма печалба на господарите си.

17 T he same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

Тя вървеше след Павел и нас и викаше: Тези човеци са слуги на Всевишния Бог, които ви проповядват път за спасение.

18 A nd this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Това тя правеше много дни наред. А понеже твърде дотегна на Павел, той се обърна и каза на духа: Заповядвам ти в името на Исус Христос да излезеш от нея. И излезе в същия час.

19 A nd when her masters saw that the hope of their gains was gone, they caught Paul and Silas, and drew them into the marketplace unto the rulers,

А когато господарите ѝ видяха, че излезе и надеждата им за печалба, хванаха Павел и Сила и ги завлякоха на пазара пред началниците.

20 A nd brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city,

И като ги изведоха при градските съдии, казаха: Тези човеци са юдеи и смущават града ни

21 A nd teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

като проповядват обичаи, които на нас, като римляни, не е позволено да приемаме или да пазим.

22 A nd the multitude rose up together against them: and the magistrates rent off their clothes, and commanded to beat them.

Тогава тълпата вкупом се надигна против тях, градските съдии им разкъсаха дрехите и заповядаха да ги бият с тояги.

23 A nd when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:

И като ги биха много, хвърлиха ги в тъмница и заповядаха на началника на тъмницата да ги пази здраво;

24 W ho, having received such a charge, thrust them into the inner prison, and made their feet fast in the stocks.

а той, като получи такава заповед, ги хвърли в по-вътрешната тъмница и стегна добре краката им в клада.

25 A nd at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Но посред нощ, когато Павел и Сила се молеха с химни на Бога, а затворниците ги слушаха,

26 A nd suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

внезапно стана голям трус, така че основите на тъмницата се поклатиха и веднага всички врати се отвориха, и оковите на всички се развързаха.

27 A nd the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

И началникът, когато се събуди и видя тъмничните врати отворени, измъкна меча си и щеше да се убие, като мислеше, че затворниците са избягали.

28 B ut Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

Но Павел извика със силен глас и каза: Недей прави никакво зло на себе си, защото всички сме тук.

29 T hen he called for a light, and sprang in, and came trembling, and fell down before Paul and Silas,

Тогава началникът поиска светило, скочи вътре и разтреперан падна пред Павел и Сила;

30 A nd brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

и ги изведе навън и каза: Господа, какво трябва да направя, за да се спася?

31 A nd they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

А те казаха: Повярвай в Господ Исус Христос и ще се спасиш - ти и домът ти.

32 A nd they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.

И говориха Господнето учение на него и на всички, които бяха в дома му.

33 A nd he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway.

И той ги взе в същия час през нощта и им изми раните; и незабавно се кръстиха, той и домашните му.

34 A nd when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his house.

И като ги заведе в къщата си, сложи им трапеза; и повярвал в Бога, зарадва се с целия си дом.

35 A nd when it was day, the magistrates sent the serjeants, saying, Let those men go.

А когато се разсъмна, градските съдии пратиха палачите да кажат: Пусни онези човеци.

36 A nd the keeper of the prison told this saying to Paul, The magistrates have sent to let you go: now therefore depart, and go in peace.

И началникът съобщи думите на Павел, като каза: Градските съдии са пратили да ви пуснем; затова сега излезте и си идете с мир.

37 B ut Paul said unto them, They have beaten us openly uncondemned, being Romans, and have cast us into prison; and now do they thrust us out privily? nay verily; but let them come themselves and fetch us out.

Но Павел им каза: Биха ни публично, без да сме били осъдени - нас, които сме римляни, и ни хвърлиха в тъмница; и сега тайно ли ни извеждат? Така не става; но те нека дойдат и ни изведат.

38 A nd the serjeants told these words unto the magistrates: and they feared, when they heard that they were Romans.

И палачите съобщиха тези думи на градските съдии; а те, като чуха, че са римляни, се уплашиха;

39 A nd they came and besought them, and brought them out, and desired them to depart out of the city.

и дойдоха и ги помолиха да бъдат снизходителни, и като ги изведоха, поканиха ги да си отидат от града.

40 A nd they went out of the prison, and entered into the house of Lydia: and when they had seen the brethren, they comforted them, and departed.

А те, като излязоха от тъмницата, влязоха у Лидия и като се видяха с братята, увещаха ги и си заминаха.
