А умрелите от язвата бяха двадесет и четири хиляди души.

10 A nd the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

11 P hinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

Финеес, син на Елеазар, син на свещеника Аарон, отвърна яростта Ми от израелтяните; понеже показа ревност сред тях, подобна на Моята, така че Аз не изтребих израелтяните в ревността Си.

12 W herefore say, Behold, I give unto him my covenant of peace:

13 A nd he shall have it, and his seed after him, even the covenant of an everlasting priesthood; because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the children of Israel.

ще бъде на него и на потомството му след него завет на вечно свещенство, защото беше ревностен за своя Бог и направи умилостивение за израелтяните.

14 N ow the name of the Israelite that was slain, even that was slain with the Midianitish woman, was Zimri, the son of Salu, a prince of a chief house among the Simeonites.

А името на убития израелтянин, който беше убит с мадиамката, беше Зимрий, син на Салу, първенец на един бащин дом от Симеоновите синове.

15 A nd the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian.

И името на убитата мадиамка беше Хазвия, дъщеря на Сура, началник на народа, от един бащин дом в Мадиам.

16 A nd the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

17 V ex the Midianites, and smite them:

Измъчвайте мадиамците и ги поразете;

18 F or they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor's sake.
