1 B ut the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.

А израелтяните извършиха престъпление относно обреченото: Ахан, син на Хармий, син на Завдий, син на Зара, от Юдовото племе, взе от обреченото, така че Господният гняв пламна против израелтяните.

2 A nd Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Bethaven, on the east of Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed Ai.

Междувременно Исус прати съгледвачи от Йерихон в Гай, който е близо до Витавен, на изток от Ветил; и им каза: Изкачете се и съгледайте земята. И така, хората се изкачиха и съгледаха Гай.

3 A nd they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.

И като се върнаха при Исус, те му казаха: Нека не отива там целият народ, а две или три хиляди мъже да се изкачат и да поразят Гай; не повеждай целия народ натам, защото онези са малко на брой.

4 S o there went up thither of the people about three thousand men: and they fled before the men of Ai.

И така, около три хиляди мъже от израелтяните се изкачиха там, но побегнаха пред гайските мъже.

5 A nd the men of Ai smote of them about thirty and six men: for they chased them from before the gate even unto Shebarim, and smote them in the going down: wherefore the hearts of the people melted, and became as water.

Гайските мъже поразиха около тридесет и шестима мъже от тях. Прогониха ги от портата си до Сиварим и ги поразиха в надолнището, поради което сърцата на хората се стопиха и станаха като вода.

6 A nd Joshua rent his clothes, and fell to the earth upon his face before the ark of the Lord until the eventide, he and the elders of Israel, and put dust upon their heads.

Тогава Исус раздра дрехите си и падна по лице на земята пред Господния ковчег, където той и Израелевите старейшини лежаха до вечерта, и посипаха пръст върху главите си.

7 A nd Joshua said, Alas, O Lord God, wherefore hast thou at all brought this people over Jordan, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? would to God we had been content, and dwelt on the other side Jordan!

И Исус каза: Ах! Господи Йехова, защо преведе този народ през Йордан, за да ни предадеш в ръцете на аморейците да ни погубят? О, да бяхме били доволни да си седим оттатък Йордан!

8 O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turneth their backs before their enemies!

О, Господи, какво да кажа, след като Израел обърна гръб пред неприятелите си?

9 F or the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall environ us round, and cut off our name from the earth: and what wilt thou do unto thy great name?

И като чуят ханаанците и всичките други жители на земята, ще ни обкръжат и ще заличат името ни от земята. Какво ще сториш за великото Си Име?

10 A nd the Lord said unto Joshua, Get thee up; wherefore liest thou thus upon thy face?

А Господ каза на Исус: Стани, защо си паднал така по лице?

11 I srael hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.

Израел е съгрешил, а именно, престъпили са завета Ми, за който им дадох заповед. Да! Те са взели от обреченото, също са откраднали и са излъгали, и са сложили откраднатото между своите вещи.

12 T herefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed: neither will I be with you any more, except ye destroy the accursed from among you.

Затова израелтяните не могат да устоят пред неприятелите си, а обръщат гръб пред тях, защото станаха проклети. Аз няма да бъда вече с вас, ако не изтребите проклетия човек изсред вас.

13 U p, sanctify the people, and say, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow: for thus saith the Lord God of Israel, There is an accursed thing in the midst of thee, O Israel: thou canst not stand before thine enemies, until ye take away the accursed thing from among you.

Стани и освети народа! И им кажи: Осветете се за утре! Защото така казва Господ, Израелевият Бог: Нещо обречено има сред теб, Израелю. Не можете да устоите пред неприятелите си, докато не махнете обреченото изсред вас.

14 I n the morning therefore ye shall be brought according to your tribes: and it shall be, that the tribe which the Lord taketh shall come according to the families thereof; and the family which the Lord shall take shall come by households; and the household which the Lord shall take shall come man by man.

И така, приближете се утре според племената си; и племето, което Господ посочи, да се приближи според семействата си; и семейството, което Господ посочи, да се приближи според домовете си; а домът, който Господ посочи, да се приближи според мъжете.

15 A nd it shall be, that he that is taken with the accursed thing shall be burnt with fire, he and all that he hath: because he hath transgressed the covenant of the Lord, and because he hath wrought folly in Israel.

И който бъде посочен с обреченото, да бъде изгорен с огън - той и всичко, което има, понеже е престъпил Господния завет и е извършил беззаконие в Израел.

16 S o Joshua rose up early in the morning, and brought Israel by their tribes; and the tribe of Judah was taken:

Тогава Исус, като стана рано сутринта, извика Израел според племената им; и беше посочено Юдовото племе.

17 A nd he brought the family of Judah; and he took the family of the Zarhites: and he brought the family of the Zarhites man by man; and Zabdi was taken:

След като извика Юдовите семейства, беше посочено семейството на Заровците. И като свика семейството на Заровците, мъж по мъж, беше посочен Завдий.

18 A nd he brought his household man by man; and Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken.

А като свика неговия дом мъж по мъж, беше посочен Ахан, син на Хармий, син на Завдий, син на Зара, от Юдовото племе.

19 A nd Joshua said unto Achan, My son, give, I pray thee, glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make confession unto him; and tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me.

Тогава Исус каза на Ахан: Сине мой, въздай сега слава на Господа, Израелевия Бог, и Му се изповядай. Кажи ми какво си направил, не скривай от мен.

20 A nd Achan answered Joshua, and said, Indeed I have sinned against the Lord God of Israel, and thus and thus have I done:

Ахан отговори на Исус: Наистина аз съгреших пред Господа, Израелевия Бог, като направих следното:

21 W hen I saw among the spoils a goodly Babylonish garment, and two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold of fifty shekels weight, then I coveted them, and took them; and, behold, they are hid in the earth in the midst of my tent, and the silver under it.

Когато видях между плячката една хубава вавилонска дреха, двеста сикъла сребро и една златна плочка, тежка петдесет сикъла, харесаха ми и ги взех. Сега са скрити под земята в шатъра ми, а среброто е най- отдолу.

22 S o Joshua sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was hid in his tent, and the silver under it.

Тогава Исус прати хора, които се завтекоха в шатъра. Откраднатото беше скрито в шатъра на Ахан и среброто беше най- отдолу.

23 A nd they took them out of the midst of the tent, and brought them unto Joshua, and unto all the children of Israel, and laid them out before the Lord.

Хората взеха всичко от шатъра и го донесоха при Исус и при всичките израелтяни, като го положиха пред Господа.

24 A nd Joshua, and all Israel with him, took Achan the son of Zerah, and the silver, and the garment, and the wedge of gold, and his sons, and his daughters, and his oxen, and his asses, and his sheep, and his tent, and all that he had: and they brought them unto the valley of Achor.

Тогава Исус и целият Израел хванаха Ахан, Заровия син, заедно със среброто, дрехата и златната плоча, синовете му, дъщерите му, говедата му, ослите му, овцете му, шатъра му и всичко, каквото имаше, и ги изведоха в долината Ахор.

25 A nd Joshua said, Why hast thou troubled us? the Lord shall trouble thee this day. And all Israel stoned him with stones, and burned them with fire, after they had stoned them with stones.

И Исус каза: Защо си ни навлякъл беда? Днес Господ тебе ще вкара в беда. Тогава целият Израел уби Ахан с камъни и го изгориха с огън, след като го убиха с камъни.

26 A nd they raised over him a great heap of stones unto this day. So the Lord turned from the fierceness of his anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of Achor, unto this day.

После натрупаха върху него голяма грамада от камъни, която стои и до днес. Така утихна Господният гняв. Затова онова място се нарича и до днес долина Ахор.
