1 F orasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us,

Понеже мнозина предприеха да съчинят повест за съвършено потвърдените между нас събития,

2 E ven as they delivered them unto us, which from the beginning were eyewitnesses, and ministers of the word;

както ни ги предадоха онези, които отначало са били очевидци и служители на словото,

3 I t seemed good to me also, having had perfect understanding of all things from the very first, to write unto thee in order, most excellent Theophilus,

видя се добре и на мене, който изследвах подробно всичко отначало, да ти пиша наред за това, почтени Теофиле,

4 T hat thou mightest know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

за да познаеш достоверността на това, в което си бил поучаван.

5 T here was in the days of Herod, the king of Judaea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia: and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth.

В дните на Юдейския цар Ирод имаше един свещеник от Авиевия отряд на име Захария; и жена му беше от Аароновите потомци и се казваше Елисавета.

6 A nd they were both righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless.

Те и двамата бяха праведни пред Бога, като ходеха непорочно във всички Господни заповеди и наредби.

7 A nd they had no child, because that Elisabeth was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.

Но нямаха дете, понеже Елисавета беше бездетна, а и двамата бяха в напреднала възраст.

8 A nd it came to pass, that while he executed the priest's office before God in the order of his course,

И той, като свещенодействаше пред Бога по реда на своя отряд,

9 A ccording to the custom of the priest's office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord.

по обичая на свещеничеството, на него се падна по жребий да влезе в Господния храм и да кади.

10 A nd the whole multitude of the people were praying without at the time of incense.

И в часа на каденето цялото множество народ се молеше отвън.

11 A nd there appeared unto him an angel of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense.

Тогава му се яви ангел от Господа, който стоеше отдясно на кадилния олтар.

12 A nd when Zacharias saw him, he was troubled, and fear fell upon him.

И Захария, като го видя, смути се и страх го обзе.

13 B ut the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.

Но ангелът му каза: Не бой се, Захария, защото твоята молитва е чута и жена ти Елисавета ще ти роди син, когото ще наречеш Йоан.

14 A nd thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.

Той ще ти бъде за радост и веселие; и мнозина ще се зарадват за неговото раждане.

15 F or he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.

Защото ще бъде велик пред Господа; вино и сикера няма да пие; и ще се изпълни със Святия Дух още от майчината си утроба.

16 A nd many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God.

И ще обърне мнозина от израелтяните към Господа, техния Бог.

17 A nd he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

Той ще върви пред Него в духа и силата на Илия, за да обърне сърцата на бащите към децата и непокорните към мъдростта на праведните, да приготви за Господа благоразположен народ.

18 A nd Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife well stricken in years.

А Захария каза на ангела: Как ще се уверя в това, защото аз съм стар, а и жена ми е в напреднала възраст?

19 A nd the angel answering said unto him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God; and am sent to speak unto thee, and to shew thee these glad tidings.

Ангелът му отговори: Аз съм Гавриил, който стои пред Бога, и съм изпратен да ти говоря и да ти благовестя това.

20 A nd, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.

И, ето, ще млъкнеш и няма да можеш да говориш до деня, когато ще се сбъдне това, защото не повярва на думите ми, които ще се изпълнят своевременно.

21 A nd the people waited for Zacharias, and marvelled that he tarried so long in the temple.

И народът чакаше Захария и се чудеше, че се бави в храма.

22 A nd when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless.

А когато излезе, той не можеше да проговори; и те разбраха, че е видял видение в храма, защото той им правеше знаци и оставаше ням.

23 A nd it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.

И като изтекоха дните на службата му в храма, той си отиде у дома.

24 A nd after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying,

А след тези дни жена му Елисавета зачена; и се криеше пет месеца, като казваше:

25 T hus hath the Lord dealt with me in the days wherein he looked on me, to take away my reproach among men.

Така ми стори Господ в дните, когато погледна милостиво, за да отнеме от човеците причината да ме укоряват. Благовещение

26 A nd in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

А в шестия месец ангел Гавриил бе изпратен от Бога в галилейския град, наречен Назарет,

27 T o a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

при една девица, сгодена за мъж на име Йосиф, от Давидовия дом; а името на девицата бе Мария.

28 A nd the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

И като дойде ангелът при нея, каза: Здравей, благодатна! Господ е с тебе; благословена си ти между жените.

29 A nd when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

А тя много се смути от думите му и си размишляваше какъв ли ще е този поздрав.

30 A nd the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

И ангелът ѝ каза: Не бой се, Мария, защото си придобила Божието благоволение.

31 A nd, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus.

И, ето, ще заченеш в утробата си и ще родиш Син, Когото ще наречеш Исус.

32 H e shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Той ще бъде велик и ще бъде наречен Син на Всевишния; и Господ Бог ще Му даде престола на баща Му Давид.

33 A nd he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Ще царува над Якововия дом до века; и царството Му няма да има край.

34 T hen said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

А Мария каза на ангела: Как ще стане това, тъй като мъж не познавам?

35 A nd the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

И ангелът ѝ отговори: Святият Дух ще дойде върху теб и силата на Всевишния ще те осени; затова и Святият, Който ще се роди от тебе, ще се нарече Божий Син.

36 A nd, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

И, ето, твоята сродница Елисавета, и тя в старините си е заченала син; и това е шестият месец за нея, за която се казваше, че е бездетна.

37 F or with God nothing shall be impossible.

Защото за Бога няма нищо невъзможно.

38 A nd Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

И Мария каза: Ето Господнята слугиня пред тебе; нека ми бъде според твоите думи. И ангелът си отиде от нея. Посещението на Мария при Елисавета

39 A nd Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

През тези дни Мария стана и отиде бързо към хълмистата страна, в един Юдейски град,

40 A nd entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.

и влезе в Захариевата къща, и поздрави Елисавета.

41 A nd it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

И щом Елисавета чу поздрава на Мария, младенецът заигра в утробата ѝ; и Елисавета се изпълни със Святия Дух

42 A nd she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.

и след като извика със силен глас, каза: Благословена си ти между жените и благословен е плодът на твоята утроба!

43 A nd whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?

И откъде ми е тази чест, да дойде при мене майката на моя Господ?

44 F or, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

Защото, ето, щом стигна гласът на твоя поздрав до ушите ми, младенецът заигра радостно в утробата ми.

45 A nd blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

И блажена е тази, която е повярвала, че ще се сбъдне казаното ѝ от Господа.

46 A nd Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord,

И Мария каза: Величае душата ми Господа

47 A nd my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

и зарадва се духът ми в Бога, Спасителя мой.

48 F or he hath regarded the low estate of his handmaiden: for, behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.

Защото погледна милостиво на ниското положение на слугинята Си; и, ето, отсега ще ме облажават всички родове.

49 F or he that is mighty hath done to me great things; and holy is his name.

Защото Всемогъщият извърши за мене велики дела; и свято е Неговото име.

50 A nd his mercy is on them that fear him from generation to generation.

И от родове в родове Неговата милост е върху онези, които се боят от Него.

51 H e hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Извърши силни дела със Своята ръка; разпръсна онези, които са горделиви в мислите на сърцето си.

52 H e hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree.

Свали владетели от престолите им и издигна смирени.

53 H e hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away.

Гладните напълни с блага, а богатите отпрати празни.

54 H e hath helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of his mercy;

Помогна на слугата Си Израел, за да напомни да покаже Своята милост

55 A s he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

(както беше говорил на бащите ни) към Авраам и към неговото потомство до века.

56 A nd Mary abode with her about three months, and returned to her own house.

А Мария, като преседя при нея около три месеца, се върна у дома си. Рождението на Йоан Кръстител

57 N ow Elisabeth's full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.

А на Елисавета дойде времето да роди; и тя роди син.

58 A nd her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

И като чуха съседите и роднините ѝ, че Господ показал към нея велика милост, се радваха с нея.

59 A nd it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

И на осмия ден дойдоха да обрежат детенцето; и щяха да го нарекат Захария, по името на баща му.

60 A nd his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

Но майка му каза: Не, ще се нарече Йоан.

61 A nd they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

Казаха ѝ: Няма никой в рода ти, който се нарича с това име.

62 A nd they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

И запитаха баща му със знаци как би искал той да го нарекат.

63 A nd he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.

А той поиска дъсчица и написа тези думи: Йоан му е името. И те всички се зачудиха.

64 A nd his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.

И начаса устата му се отвори и езикът му се развърза, и той проговори и благославяше Бога.

65 A nd fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea.

И страх обзе всичките им съседи; и за всичко това се говореше по цялата хълмиста страна на Юдея.

66 A nd all they that heard them laid them up in their hearts, saying, What manner of child shall this be! And the hand of the Lord was with him.

И всички, като чуха, пазеха това в сърцата си, като казваха: Какво ли ще бъде това дете? Защото Господнята ръка беше с него.

67 A nd his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost, and prophesied, saying,

Тогава баща му Захария се изпълни със Святия Дух и пророкува, като казваше:

68 B lessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,

Благословен Господ, Израелевият Бог, защото посети Своя народ и извърши изкупление за него.

69 A nd hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David;

И издигна рог на спасение за нас в дома на слугата Си Давид

70 A s he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began:

(както е говорил чрез устата на святите Си пророци от вековете),

71 T hat we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us;

избавление от неприятелите ни и от ръката на всички, които ни мразят,

72 T o perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant;

за да покаже милост към бащите ни и да спомни святия Свой завет,

73 T he oath which he sware to our father Abraham,

клетвата, с която се закле на баща ни Авраам:

74 T hat he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear,

да даде на нас, освободени от ръката на неприятелите ни, да Му служим без страх,

75 I n holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life.

в святост и правда пред Него, през всичките си дни.

76 A nd thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;

Да! И ти, детенце, пророк на Всевишния ще се наречеш; защото ще вървиш пред Господа, за да приготвиш пътищата за Него.

77 T o give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,

За да дадеш на Неговия народ да познае спасение чрез прощаване греховете им,

78 T hrough the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,

поради съкровеното милосърдие на нашия Бог, с което ще ни посети зора отгоре,

79 T o give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

за да осияе седящите в тъмнина и в смъртна сянка; така че да насочи стъпките ни в пътя на мира.

80 A nd the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

А детенцето растеше и крепнеше по дух; и беше в пустинята до деня, когато се яви на Израел.
