1 H ow happy he is whose wrong-doing is forgiven, and whose sin is covered!

Na Rawiri: he Makiri. Ka hari te tangata kua oti tana he te muru, tona hara te hipoki.

2 H ow happy is the man whose sin the Lord does not hold against him, and in whose spirit there is nothing false.

Ka hari te tangata kahore nei e whakairia e Ihowa he hara ki a ia, a kahore he hianga i tona wairua.

3 W hen I kept quiet about my sin, my bones wasted away from crying all day long.

I ahau kihai i kuihi, ngahengahe kau oku iwi i taku auetanga i te ra roa.

4 F or day and night Your hand was heavy upon me. My strength was dried up as in the hot summer.

(Hera.

5 I told my sin to You. I did not hide my wrong-doing. I said, “I will tell my sins to the Lord.” And You forgave the guilt of my sin.

I whakina e ahau toku hara ki a koe, kihai hoki i huna i toku kino: i mea ahau, Ka whakina aku mahi tutu ki a Ihowa; a murua ana e koe te kino o toku hara. (Hera.

6 S o let all who are God-like pray to You while You may be found, because in the floods of much water, they will not touch him.

Mo konei ka inoi ki a koe nga tangata tapu katoa i te wa e kitea ai koe: he pono ka ngawha nga wai nui, e kore e tata ki a ia.

7 Y ou are my hiding place. You keep me safe from trouble. All around me are your songs of being made free.

Ko koe toku piringa; mau ahau e whakaora i te pouri, mau ahau e karapoti ki nga waiata whakaora. (Hera.

8 I will show you and teach you in the way you should go. I will tell you what to do with My eye upon you.

9 D o not be like the horse or the donkey which have no understanding. They must be made to work by using bits and leather ropes or they will not come to you.

10 M any are the sorrows of the sinful. But loving-kindness will be all around the man who trusts in the Lord.

11 B e glad in the Lord and be full of joy, you who are right with God! Sing for joy all you who are pure in heart!
