1 B e ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Por tanto, imiten a Dios, como hijos amados.

2 A nd walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

Vivan en amor, como también Cristo nos amó y se entregó a sí mismo por nosotros, como ofrenda y sacrificio a Dios, de aroma fragante.

3 B ut fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;

Entre ustedes ni siquiera deben hablar de inmoralidad sexual, ni de avaricia, ni de ninguna otra clase de depravación, pues ustedes son santos.

4 N either filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.

Tampoco digan obscenidades, ni tonterías ni palabras groseras. Eso no es conveniente. En vez de eso, den gracias a Dios.

5 F or this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

Ustedes bien saben que ninguno que sea libertino, inmundo, o avaro (es decir, ningún idólatra), tendrá parte en el reino de Cristo y de Dios.

6 L et no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

Que nadie los engañe con palabras vanas, porque por estas cosas viene la ira de Dios sobre aquellos que no lo obedecen.

7 B e not ye therefore partakers with them.

Por tanto, no se junten con esa clase de gente.

8 F or ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:

En otro tiempo, ustedes eran oscuridad; pero ahora son luz en el Señor. Por tanto, vivan como hijos de luz

9 ( For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

(porque el fruto del Espíritu se manifiesta en toda bondad, justicia y verdad),

10 P roving what is acceptable unto the Lord.

y comprueben lo que es agradable al Señor.

11 A nd have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

No tengan nada que ver con las obras infructuosas de las tinieblas; al contrario, denúncienlas.

12 F or it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

¡Hasta vergüenza da hablar de lo que ellos hacen en secreto!

13 B ut all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

Pero cuando todas las cosas son expuestas a la luz, quedan de manifiesto; porque la luz lo manifiesta todo.

14 W herefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

Por eso dice: «Despiértate, tú que duermes. Levántate de entre los muertos, y te alumbrará Cristo.»

15 S ee then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

Por tanto, ¡cuidado con su manera de vivir! No vivan ya como necios, sino como sabios.

16 R edeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Aprovechen bien el tiempo, porque los días son malos.

17 W herefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

No sean, pues, insensatos; procuren entender cuál es la voluntad del Señor.

18 A nd be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;

No se emborrachen con vino, lo cual lleva al desenfreno; más bien, llénense del Espíritu.

19 S peaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

Hablen entre ustedes con salmos, himnos y cánticos espirituales; canten y alaben al Señor con el corazón,

20 G iving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

y den siempre gracias por todo al Dios y Padre, en el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. La mutua sumisión

21 S ubmitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

Cultiven entre ustedes la mutua sumisión, en el temor de Dios.

22 W ives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Ustedes, las casadas, honren a sus propios esposos, como honran al Señor;

23 F or the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

porque el esposo es cabeza de la mujer, así como Cristo es cabeza de la iglesia, la cual es su cuerpo, y él es su Salvador.

24 T herefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Así como la iglesia honra a Cristo, así también las casadas deben honrar a sus esposos en todo.

25 H usbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Esposos, amen a sus esposas, así como Cristo amó a la iglesia, y se entregó a sí mismo por ella,

26 T hat he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

para santificarla. Él la purificó en el lavamiento del agua por la palabra,

27 T hat he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.

a fin de presentársela a sí mismo como una iglesia gloriosa, santa e intachable, sin mancha ni arruga ni nada semejante.

28 S o ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.

Así también los esposos deben amar a sus esposas como a su propio cuerpo. El que ama a su esposa, se ama a sí mismo.

29 F or no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:

Nadie ha odiado jamás a su propio cuerpo, sino que lo sustenta y lo cuida, como lo hace Cristo con la iglesia,

30 F or we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

porque somos miembros de su cuerpo, de su carne y de sus huesos.

31 F or this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

Por eso el hombre dejará a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer, y los dos serán un solo ser.

32 T his is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

Grande es este misterio; pero yo digo esto respecto de Cristo y de la iglesia.

33 N evertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

Por lo demás, cada uno de ustedes ame también a su esposa como a sí mismo; y ustedes, las esposas, honren a sus esposos.
