1 A t the same time, saith the Lord, will I be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be my people.

«En aquel tiempo, yo seré el Dios de todas las familias de Israel, y ellas serán mi pueblo.» —Palabra del Señor.

2 T hus saith the Lord, The people which were left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; even Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Israel, un pueblo que escapó de morir a filo de espada, halló gracia en el desierto y ahora avanza en busca de reposo.»

3 T he Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

Hace ya mucho tiempo, el Señor se hizo presente y me dijo: «Yo te amo con amor eterno. Por eso te he prolongado mi misericordia.

4 A gain I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

Yo volveré a reconstruirte, virginal Jerusalén. Y serás reconstruida, y te adornarán con panderos para que dances con alegría.

5 T hou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.

Los que plantan viñas las plantarán en los montes de Samaria, y disfrutarán de sus uvas.

6 F or there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the Lord our God.

Viene el día en que los guardianes del monte de Efraín gritarán: “¡Vamos, arriba todos! ¡Subamos a Sión, al monte del Señor nuestro Dios!”»

7 F or thus saith the Lord; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «¡Griten de alegría por Jacob! ¡Llénense de júbilo por la nación más importante! ¡Hagan resonar sus alabanzas! ¡Pídanme que salve a mi pueblo, al remanente de Israel!

8 B ehold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.

Yo los hago volver del país del norte; los estoy reuniendo de los confines de la tierra. Entre ellos vienen ciegos, cojos, mujeres encintas y recién paridas; ¡vuelven acompañados de una gran muchedumbre!

9 T hey shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.

Con llanto en los ojos se fueron, pero yo los haré volver con gran misericordia; al volver, los llevaré por arroyos de aguas, por caminos rectos, para que no tropiecen. Yo soy el padre de Israel, y Efraín es mi primogénito.»

10 H ear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.

Ustedes, las naciones, oigan la palabra del Señor. Háganlo saber en las costas más lejanas. Digan que el que esparció a Israel ahora lo reúne, y que lo cuidará como cuida el pastor a su rebaño.

11 F or the Lord hath redeemed Jacob, and ransomed him from the hand of him that was stronger than he.

Porque el Señor ha redimido a Jacob; lo ha redimido del poder del que era más fuerte que él.

12 T herefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.

«Ellos vendrán a las alturas de Sión entre gritos de alegría, y se deleitarán con mis bondades: con el pan, el vino y el aceite, y el ganado de las ovejas y de las vacas; y ellos mismos serán como un huerto bien regado, y nunca más volverán a experimentar el dolor.

13 T hen shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.

Entonces las doncellas danzarán con alegría, lo mismo que los jóvenes y los ancianos. Yo los consolaré, y cambiaré sus lágrimas en gozo y su dolor en alegría.

14 A nd I will satiate the soul of the priests with fatness, and my people shall be satisfied with my goodness, saith the Lord.

Satisfaré abundantemente y con lo mejor el hambre y la sed de los sacerdotes y de mi pueblo.» —Palabra del Señor.

15 T hus saith the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Se oye una voz en Ramá; amargo llanto y lamento. Es Raquel, que llora por sus hijos, y no quiere que la consuelen, porque ya han muerto.»

16 T hus saith the Lord; Refrain thy voice from weeping, and thine eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the Lord; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Reprime tu llanto y tus sollozos; seca las lágrimas de tus ojos, porque no has trabajado en vano: tus hijos volverán de ese país enemigo. —Palabra del Señor.

17 A nd there is hope in thine end, saith the Lord, that thy children shall come again to their own border.

»Tus descendientes tienen esperanza; tus hijos volverán a su propia tierra. —Palabra del Señor.

18 I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast chastised me, and I was chastised, as a bullock unaccustomed to the yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the Lord my God.

»He escuchado a Efraín llorar y lamentarse: “Me azotaste. He sido castigado como un novillo indómito. Pero haz que me vuelva a ti, y a ti me volveré, porque tú eres el Señor, mi Dios.

19 S urely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth.

Después de apartarme de ti, me arrepentí; después de reconocer mi falta, me herí en el muslo. Me quedé avergonzado y confundido, porque cargué con la afrenta de mi juventud.”

20 I s Ephraim my dear son? is he a pleasant child? for since I spake against him, I do earnestly remember him still: therefore my bowels are troubled for him; I will surely have mercy upon him, saith the Lord.

»¡Pero Efraín, tú eres mi hijo más querido! ¡Eres el niño en quien me complazco! Siempre que hablo de ti, lo hago con mucho cariño. Por ti, el corazón se me estremece. Ciertamente tendré de ti misericordia.» —Palabra del Señor.

21 S et thee up waymarks, make thee high heaps: set thine heart toward the highway, even the way which thou wentest: turn again, O virgin of Israel, turn again to these thy cities.

¡Regresa, virginal Israel! ¡Regresa a tus ciudades por el mismo camino por el que te fuiste! ¡Pon señales y marcas, y fíjate bien cuál es el camino!

22 H ow long wilt thou go about, O thou backsliding daughter? for the Lord hath created a new thing in the earth, A woman shall compass a man.

¿Hasta cuándo vas a andar errante, mujer contumaz? El Señor ha establecido algo nuevo en la tierra: ¡la mujer corteja al varón!

23 T hus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The Lord bless thee, O habitation of justice, and mountain of holiness.

Así ha dicho el Señor de los ejércitos y Dios de Israel: «Cuando yo haga volver a los cautivos, en la tierra de Judá y en sus ciudades volverán a decirse estas palabras: “¡Que el Señor te bendiga, monte santo, mansión de justicia!”

24 A nd there shall dwell in Judah itself, and in all the cities thereof together, husbandmen, and they that go forth with flocks.

Y Judá volverá a vivir allí, y en todas sus ciudades, y habrá allí labradores y pastores con sus rebaños.

25 F or I have satiated the weary soul, and I have replenished every sorrowful soul.

Yo satisfaré el hambre y la sed de la gente triste y fatigada.»

26 U pon this I awaked, and beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.

De pronto desperté, abrí los ojos, ¡y me encantó lo que había soñado! El nuevo pacto

27 B ehold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.

«Vienen días en que llenaré la casa de Israel y la casa de Judá con multitudes de hombres y de animales. —Palabra del Señor.

28 A nd it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build, and to plant, saith the Lord.

»Y así como me ocupé de ellos para arrancar y destruir, y arruinar, derribar y afligir, también me ocuparé de ellos para construir y plantar. —Palabra del Señor.

29 I n those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.

»En esos días no volverá a decirse “Los padres comieron las uvas agrias, y los dientes de los hijos tienen la dentera”,

30 B ut every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.

sino que cada cual morirá por su propia maldad. La dentera la tendrán los dientes de todo el que coma las uvas agrias.

31 B ehold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

»Vienen días en que haré un nuevo pacto con la casa de Israel y con la casa de Judá. —Palabra del Señor.

32 N ot according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the Lord:

»No será un pacto como el que hice con sus padres cuando los tomé de la mano y los saqué de la tierra de Egipto. Porque yo fui para ellos como un marido, pero ellos quebrantaron mi pacto. —Palabra del Señor.

33 B ut this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the Lord, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

»Cuando hayan pasado esos días, el pacto que haré con la casa de Israel será el siguiente: Pondré mi ley en su mente, y la escribiré en su corazón. Y yo seré su Dios, y ellos serán mi pueblo. —Palabra del Señor.

34 A nd they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the Lord: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

»Nadie volverá a enseñar a su prójimo ni a su hermano, ni le dirá: “Conoce al Señor”, porque todos ellos, desde el más pequeño hasta el más grande, me conocerán. Y yo perdonaré su maldad, y no volveré a acordarme de su pecado.» —Palabra del Señor.

35 T hus saith the Lord, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The Lord of hosts is his name:

Así ha dicho el Señor, cuyo nombre es el Señor de los ejércitos; el que ha puesto al sol la ley de alumbrar durante el día, y a la luna y las estrellas la ley de alumbrar de noche; el que agita el mar y hace que rujan sus olas:

36 I f those ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

«Mientras estas leyes sigan vigentes, Israel y sus descendientes serán también ante mí una nación para siempre.» —Palabra del Señor.

37 T hus saith the Lord; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the Lord.

Así ha dicho el Señor: «Yo desecharé a todos los descendientes de Israel por todo lo que hicieron, sólo cuando los altos cielos puedan medirse, y cuando los fundamentos inferiores de la tierra puedan explorarse. —Palabra del Señor.

38 B ehold, the days come, saith the Lord, that the city shall be built to the Lord from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

»Vienen días en que la ciudad será reconstruida en mi honor, desde la torre de Jananel hasta la puerta angular. —Palabra del Señor.

39 A nd the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

»Los linderos de la ciudad se extenderán en dirección a la colina de Gareb, y rodearán a Goa.

40 A nd the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the Lord; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

Y todo el valle donde se entierra a los muertos y se tira la ceniza, y todas las llanuras hacia el oriente, hasta el arroyo de Cedrón y hasta la esquina de la Puerta de los Caballos, estarán consagradas a mí, y nunca más Jerusalén volverá a ser arrancada ni destruida.»
