1 B ehold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.

¡Miren! Va a surgir un rey que hará justicia, y los príncipes presidirán en el juicio.

2 A nd a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

Ese hombre será como un refugio contra el viento, como un albergue contra el turbión; como los arroyos en tierras áridas; como la sombra de un gran peñasco en tierra calurosa.

3 A nd the eyes of them that see shall not be dim, and the ears of them that hear shall hearken.

No se ofuscarán los ojos de los que ven; los oídos de los que oyen escucharán con atención.

4 T he heart also of the rash shall understand knowledge, and the tongue of the stammerers shall be ready to speak plainly.

El corazón de los necios captará el conocimiento, y la lengua de los tartamudos hablará con claridad y rapidez.

5 T he vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.

Nunca más el ruin será llamado generoso, ni el tramposo será llamado espléndido.

6 F or the vile person will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the Lord, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail.

Porque el ruin hablará ruindades, y su corazón maquinará iniquidades, para cometer impiedad y para proferir blasfemias contra el Señor; a los hambrientos los dejará ir con hambre, y a los sedientos no les calma la sed.

7 T he instruments also of the churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right.

El tramposo usa armas de maldad; trama planes inicuos, enreda a los ingenuos con palabras mentirosas, y en el juicio habla en contra del pobre.

8 B ut the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

Pero el generoso piensa en ser generoso, y por su generosidad será exaltado. Advertencia a las mujeres de Jerusalén

9 R ise up, ye women that are at ease; hear my voice, ye careless daughters; give ear unto my speech.

¡Levántense, mujeres indolentes! ¡Escuchen mi voz y mis razones, mujeres confiadas!

10 M any days and years shall ye be troubled, ye careless women: for the vintage shall fail, the gathering shall not come.

Ustedes, que ahora están tranquilas, dentro de poco más de un año se llenarán de pánico, porque las viñas no darán uvas ni habrá trigo en los trigales.

11 T remble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

¡Comiencen a temblar y a preocuparse, mujeres indolentes y confiadas! ¡Despójense de su ropa, y vístanse con cilicio!

12 T hey shall lament for the teats, for the pleasant fields, for the fruitful vine.

¡Golpéense el pecho y lloren por la belleza de los campos y por la fertilidad de las viñas!

13 U pon the land of my people shall come up thorns and briers; yea, upon all the houses of joy in the joyous city:

En la tierra de mi pueblo crecerán espinos y cardos, y se acabará la alegría en todas las casas de la ciudad feliz.

14 B ecause the palaces shall be forsaken; the multitude of the city shall be left; the forts and towers shall be for dens for ever, a joy of wild asses, a pasture of flocks;

Los palacios quedarán desiertos; no habrá más tanta gente en la ciudad; las torres y las fortalezas serán para siempre cuevas para los asnos del monte y pastizales para los ganados,

15 U ntil the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest.

hasta que venga sobre nosotros el espíritu de lo alto. Entonces el desierto se convertirá en campo fértil, y el campo fértil será visto como bosque.

16 T hen judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.

Entonces se impartirá justicia en el desierto, y reinará el derecho en el campo fértil.

17 A nd the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.

La justicia hará posible la paz; la justicia redundará en reposo y seguridad para siempre.

18 A nd my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places;

Entonces mi pueblo vivirá en lugares de paz, en poblaciones seguras, en sitios de reposo.

19 W hen it shall hail, coming down on the forest; and the city shall be low in a low place.

El granizo que caiga, caerá en los montes, y la ciudad será abatida por completo.

20 B lessed are ye that sow beside all waters, that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the ass.

¡Dichosos ustedes, los que siembran junto a los ríos y arroyos, y dejan que anden libres sus bueyes y sus asnos!
