1 I f it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;

Si el Señor no hubiera estado de nuestro lado —que lo reconozca el pueblo de Israel—,

2 I f it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:

si el Señor no hubiera estado de nuestro lado cuando todo el mundo se levantó contra nosotros,

3 T hen they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:

nos habrían tragado vivos, pues su furia contra nosotros los quemaba;

4 T hen the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:

¡nos habrían arrastrado como una inundación!, ¡nos habrían sepultado como un torrente!,

5 T hen the proud waters had gone over our soul.

¡nos habrían ahogado como aguas impetuosas!

6 B lessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.

¡Bendito sea el Señor, que no nos dejó caer en sus fauces!

7 O ur soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.

¡Escapamos como escapa el ave de la red! ¡La red se abrió, y nosotros escapamos!

8 O ur help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

Nuestra ayuda viene del Señor, creador del cielo y de la tierra.
