1 T here was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh; for he was the firstborn of Joseph; to wit, for Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead: because he was a man of war, therefore he had Gilead and Bashan.

Se echaron a la suerte las tierras para la tribu de Manasés, el primer hijo de José. Maquir, que era un hombre de guerra y el primer hijo de Manasés y padre de Galaad, recibió Galaad y Basán.

2 T here was also a lot for the rest of the children of Manasseh by their families; for the children of Abiezer, and for the children of Helek, and for the children of Asriel, and for the children of Shechem, and for the children of Hepher, and for the children of Shemida: these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph by their families.

También se sortearon las tierras para los otros hijos de Manasés, conforme al número de sus familias. Los hijos de Abiezer, Jélec, Asriel, Siquén, Jéfer y Semida fueron los otros hijos varones de Manasés hijo de José.

3 B ut Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but daughters: and these are the names of his daughters, Mahlah, and Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.

Selofejad hijo de Jéfer, que era nieto de Galaad, bisnieto de Maquir y tataranieto de Manasés, sólo tuvo hijas. Se llamaban Malá, Nogá, Joglá, Milca y Tirsa.

4 A nd they came near before Eleazar the priest, and before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the princes, saying, The Lord commanded Moses to give us an inheritance among our brethren. Therefore according to the commandment of the Lord he gave them an inheritance among the brethren of their father.

Ellas fueron a ver al sacerdote Eleazar, a Josué hijo de Nun y a los jefes del pueblo, y les dijeron: «El Señor le ordenó a Moisés que nos diera tierras entre nuestros hermanos.» Y Josué les dio tierras entre los hermanos de su padre, conforme a la promesa del Señor.

5 A nd there fell ten portions to Manasseh, beside the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side Jordan;

A Manasés le tocaron diez partes, además de la tierra de Galaad y de Basán, al otro lado del Jordán,

6 B ecause the daughters of Manasseh had an inheritance among his sons: and the rest of Manasseh's sons had the land of Gilead.

porque a las hijas de Manasés les tocaron tierras como si se tratara de hijos, y la tierra de Galaad quedó en posesión de los otros hijos de Manasés.

7 A nd the coast of Manasseh was from Asher to Michmethah, that lieth before Shechem; and the border went along on the right hand unto the inhabitants of Entappuah.

El territorio de Manasés se extendía desde Aser hasta Micmetat, que está frente a Siquén, y de allí seguía al sur, hasta donde viven los de Tapuaj.

8 N ow Manasseh had the land of Tappuah: but Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim;

La tierra de Tapuaj pertenecía a la tribu de Manasés, pero Tapuaj misma, que está en los límites de Manasés, es de los hijos de Efraín.

9 A nd the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also was on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea:

Su frontera pasa al sur del arroyo de Caná. Las ciudades de Efraín están entre las ciudades de Manasés, y la frontera de Manasés parte del norte del mismo arroyo que tiene salidas al mar.

10 S outhward it was Ephraim's, and northward it was Manasseh's, and the sea is his border; and they met together in Asher on the north, and in Issachar on the east.

Efraín está al sur, Manasés al norte, y el mar es su frontera; Aser está al norte, e Isacar al oriente.

11 A nd Manasseh had in Issachar and in Asher Bethshean and her towns, and Ibleam and her towns, and the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Endor and her towns, and the inhabitants of Taanach and her towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns, even three countries.

Manasés también tuvo, en Isacar y en Aser, a Bet Seán y sus aldeas, a Ibleam y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Dor y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Endor y sus aldeas, a los habitantes de Tanac y sus aldeas, y a los habitantes de Meguido y sus aldeas. Eran tres provincias.

12 Y et the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities; but the Canaanites would dwell in that land.

Sin embargo, los hijos de Manasés no pudieron arrojar de aquellas ciudades a los cananeos, de modo que éstos siguieron habitando esas tierras.

13 Y et it came to pass, when the children of Israel were waxen strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, but did not utterly drive them out.

Cuando los hijos de Israel se hicieron fuertes, obligaron a los cananeos a pagarles tributo, pero no los expulsaron de allí.

14 A nd the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the Lord hath blessed me hitherto?

Los descendientes de José fueron a hablar con Josué, y le preguntaron: «¿Por qué nos has dado tan pocas tierras, siendo que nosotros somos un pueblo muy grande y también tenemos la bendición del Señor?»

15 A nd Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.

Josué les respondió: «Si en verdad son un pueblo tan grande como dicen, y ya que el monte de Efraín donde ustedes viven les queda chico, vayan al bosque y desmonten la tierra donde viven los ferezeos y los refaítas.»

16 A nd the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel.

Los hijos de José respondieron: «Es un hecho que ese monte no nos basta. Pero los cananeos de la llanura tienen carros de hierro, lo mismo que los que están en Bet Seán y en sus aldeas, ¡y no se diga de los que están en el valle de Jezrel!»

17 A nd Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only:

Entonces Josué les respondió a Efraín y Manasés, de la casa de José: «Ustedes son un gran pueblo y tienen mucho poder. Por eso se les van a dar más tierras.

18 B ut the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.

Aquel monte será de ustedes, pero deben desmontarlo para que lo puedan habitar y poseerlo hasta sus límites más lejanos. Y aunque los cananeos tengan carros de hierro y sean muy fuertes, ustedes los vencerán.»
