1 A nd the apostles and brethren that were in Judaea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

Los apóstoles y los hermanos que estaban en Judea supieron que también los no judíos habían recibido la palabra de Dios,

2 A nd when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, they that were of the circumcision contended with him,

así que cuando Pedro subió a Jerusalén, los que practicaban la circuncisión comenzaron a discutir con él.

3 S aying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.

Le dijeron: «¿Por qué entraste en la casa de gente no judía, y comiste allí?»

4 B ut Peter rehearsed the matter from the beginning, and expounded it by order unto them, saying,

Pedro comenzó entonces a contarles detalladamente lo que había sucedido. Les dijo:

5 I was in the city of Joppa praying: and in a trance I saw a vision, A certain vessel descend, as it had been a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came even to me:

«Mientras yo estaba orando en Jope, entré en éxtasis y tuve una visión. Vi que del cielo bajaba hacia mí un gran lienzo, atado por las cuatro puntas.

6 U pon the which when I had fastened mine eyes, I considered, and saw fourfooted beasts of the earth, and wild beasts, and creeping things, and fowls of the air.

Me fijé bien, y vi que allí había cuadrúpedos, fieras, reptiles y aves.

7 A nd I heard a voice saying unto me, Arise, Peter; slay and eat.

Oí además una voz que me decía: “Pedro, levántate, mata y come.”

8 B ut I said, Not so, Lord: for nothing common or unclean hath at any time entered into my mouth.

Yo respondí: “No, Señor, porque nunca he comido nada que sea común o impuro.”

9 B ut the voice answered me again from heaven, What God hath cleansed, that call not thou common.

Pero desde el cielo la voz me dijo la segunda vez: “Lo que Dios ha limpiado, no lo llames tú impuro.”

10 A nd this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.

Esto se repitió tres veces, después de lo cual el lienzo fue llevado de nuevo al cielo.

11 A nd, behold, immediately there were three men already come unto the house where I was, sent from Caesarea unto me.

En ese momento llegaron a la casa donde yo estaba, tres hombres que desde Cesarea habían venido por mí.

12 A nd the Spirit bade me go with them, nothing doubting. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered into the man's house:

El Espíritu me dijo que no dudara y los acompañara, así que estos seis hermanos fueron conmigo, y entramos en casa de un varón

13 A nd he shewed us how he had seen an angel in his house, which stood and said unto him, Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon, whose surname is Peter;

que nos contó que en su casa había visto un ángel, que le dijo: “Envía algunos de tus hombres a Jope, y haz que venga Simón, al que también se le conoce como Pedro.

14 W ho shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.

Él te dirá cómo tú y todos los de tu casa pueden ser salvados.”

15 A nd as I began to speak, the Holy Ghost fell on them, as on us at the beginning.

Apenas había comenzado a hablar cuando el Espíritu Santo se manifestó sobre ellos, como al principio se manifestó en nosotros.

16 T hen remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost.

Entonces me acordé de las palabras del Señor, cuando dijo: “Ciertamente, Juan bautizó con agua; pero ustedes serán bautizados con el Espíritu Santo.”

17 F orasmuch then as God gave them the like gift as he did unto us, who believed on the Lord Jesus Christ; what was I, that I could withstand God?

Pues si Dios les concedió a ellos el mismo don que a nosotros, que hemos creído en el Señor Jesucristo, ¿quién soy yo para oponerme a Dios?»

18 W hen they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life.

Al oír esto, ellos se callaron y glorificaron a Dios. Decían: «¡Así que Dios también les ha concedido a los no judíos la oportunidad de arrepentirse para que tengan vida!» La iglesia en Antioquía

19 N ow they which were scattered abroad upon the persecution that arose about Stephen travelled as far as Phenice, and Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to none but unto the Jews only.

Mientras tanto, los que habían sido dispersados por la persecución que se desató por causa de Esteban, llegaron hasta Fenicia, Chipre y Antioquía, y hablaban de las buenas noticias solamente a los judíos.

20 A nd some of them were men of Cyprus and Cyrene, which, when they were come to Antioch, spake unto the Grecians, preaching the Lord Jesus.

Pero había allí unos varones de Chipre y de Cirene, que al entrar en Antioquía habían hablado también a los griegos acerca de las buenas noticias del Señor Jesús.

21 A nd the hand of the Lord was with them: and a great number believed, and turned unto the Lord.

Y con la ayuda del Señor un gran número de personas creyó y se convirtió al Señor.

22 T hen tidings of these things came unto the ears of the church which was in Jerusalem: and they sent forth Barnabas, that he should go as far as Antioch.

Como esto llegó a oídos de la iglesia en Jerusalén, enviaron a Bernabé hasta Antioquía.

23 W ho, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, that with purpose of heart they would cleave unto the Lord.

Y cuando él llegó y constató la bondad de Dios, se alegró mucho y exhortó a todos a permanecer fieles al Señor, con todo el fervor de su corazón.

24 F or he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

Bernabé era un hombre bueno, lleno de fe y del Espíritu Santo, así que una gran multitud se agregó para seguir al Señor.

25 T hen departed Barnabas to Tarsus, for to seek Saul:

Después de eso, Bernabé se fue a Tarso para buscar a Saulo, y cuando lo encontró lo llevó a Antioquía.

26 A nd when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

Durante todo un año se congregaron con la iglesia y enseñaron a mucha gente. Y fue allí en Antioquía en donde a los discípulos de Jesús se les llamó cristianos por primera vez.

27 A nd in these days came prophets from Jerusalem unto Antioch.

Por aquellos días, unos profetas salieron de Jerusalén para visitar Antioquía.

28 A nd there stood up one of them named Agabus, and signified by the Spirit that there should be great dearth throughout all the world: which came to pass in the days of Claudius Caesar.

Uno de ellos, llamado Agabo, se levantó para anunciar la hambruna que estaba por llegar a toda la tierra, y que el Espíritu le había dado a saber. Esto sucedió en los días del emperador Claudio.

29 T hen the disciples, every man according to his ability, determined to send relief unto the brethren which dwelt in Judaea:

Entonces los discípulos acordaron socorrer a los hermanos que vivían en Judea, según lo que cada uno tuviera,

30 W hich also they did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

y por medio de Bernabé y de Saulo enviaron ayuda a los ancianos.
