1 O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens.

Señor y Dios nuestro, ¡cuán glorioso es tu nombre en toda la tierra! ¡Has puesto tu gloria sobre los cielos!

2 O ut of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

Las alabanzas de los niños de pecho son tu mejor defensa contra tus enemigos; ellas silencian a tus vengativos adversarios.

3 W hen I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;

Cuando contemplo el cielo, obra de tus dedos, y la luna y las estrellas que has creado,

4 W hat is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?

me pregunto: ¿Qué es el ser humano, para que en él pienses? ¿Qué es la humanidad, para que la tomes en cuenta?

5 F or thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Hiciste al hombre poco menor que un dios, y lo colmaste de gloria y de honra.

6 T hou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:

¡Lo has hecho señor de las obras de tus manos! ¡todo lo has puesto debajo de sus pies!

7 A ll sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;

¡Todas las ovejas y todos los toros! ¡Todos los animales del bosque!

8 T he fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea, and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

¡Las aves en el cielo y los peces en el mar! ¡Todo lo que surca las profundidades del mar!

9 O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
