1 A t that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.

En aquel tiempo, al pasar Jesús por los sembrados en un día de reposo, sus discípulos tuvieron hambre y comenzaron a arrancar espigas y a comerlas.

2 B ut when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

Cuando los fariseos vieron esto, le dijeron: «¡Fíjate! Tus discípulos hacen lo que no está permitido hacer en el día de reposo.»

3 B ut he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

Pero él les dijo: «¿No han leído ustedes lo que hizo David, cuando él y sus acompañantes tuvieron hambre?

4 H ow he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

¡Pues entró en la casa de Dios y comió los panes de la proposición! Panes que ni a él ni a sus acompañantes les estaba permitido comer, sino solamente a los sacerdotes.

5 O r have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

¿O no han leído ustedes en la ley que, en el día de reposo, los sacerdotes que están en el templo profanan el día de reposo, y no se les culpa de nada?

6 B ut I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

Pues yo les digo que aquí está uno mayor que el templo.

7 B ut if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

Si ustedes supieran lo que significa “Misericordia quiero, y no sacrificio”, no condenarían a los inocentes;

8 F or the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

porque el Hijo del Hombre es Señor del día de reposo.» El hombre de la mano atrofiada

9 A nd when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

Al salir de allí, Jesús fue a la sinagoga del lugar.

10 A nd, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

Allí había un hombre que tenía atrofiada una mano. Para poder acusar a Jesús, algunos le preguntaron: «¿Está permitido sanar en el día de reposo?»

11 A nd he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

Él les respondió: «¿Quién de ustedes, si tiene una oveja, y ésta se cae en un hoyo en día de reposo, no va y la saca?

12 H ow much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

¡Y un hombre vale mucho más que una oveja! Por consiguiente, está permitido hacer el bien en los días de reposo.»

13 T hen saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

Entonces le dijo a aquel hombre: «Extiende tu mano.» El hombre la extendió, y su mano le quedó tan sana como la otra.

14 T hen the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

Pero los fariseos, en cuanto se fueron, conspiraron para matar a Jesús. El siervo escogido

15 B ut when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

Cuando Jesús supo esto, se alejó de allí. Pero mucha gente lo siguió, y él los sanó a todos,

16 A nd charged them that they should not make him known:

aunque les encargaba con firmeza que no lo descubrieran,

17 T hat it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

para que se cumpliera lo dicho por el profeta Isaías:

18 B ehold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

«Éste es mi siervo, a quien he escogido; mi Amado, en quien se complace mi alma. Pondré mi Espíritu sobre él, y a las naciones anunciará juicio.

19 H e shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

No disputará, ni gritará, ni nadie oirá su voz en las calles.

20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

No quebrará la caña cascada, ni apagará la mecha humeante, hasta que haga triunfar la justicia.

21 A nd in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

En su nombre esperarán las naciones.» La blasfemia contra el Espíritu Santo

22 T hen was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

Un día le llevaron un endemoniado ciego y mudo, y él lo sanó, así que el ciego y mudo podía ver y hablar.

23 A nd all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

Toda la gente estaba atónita, y decía: «¿Será éste el Hijo de David?»

24 B ut when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Los fariseos, al oírlo, decían: «Éste expulsa los demonios por el poder de Beelzebú, príncipe de los demonios.»

25 A nd Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

Pero Jesús, que sabía lo que ellos pensaban, les dijo: «Todo reino dividido internamente acaba en la ruina. No hay casa o ciudad que permanezca, si internamente está dividida.

26 A nd if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

Así que, si Satanás expulsa a Satanás, se estará dividiendo a sí mismo; y así, ¿cómo podrá permanecer su reino?

27 A nd if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

Si yo expulso a los demonios por el poder de Beelzebú, ¿por el poder de quién los expulsan los hijos de ustedes? Por lo tanto, ellos serán los jueces de ustedes.

28 B ut if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

Pero si yo expulso a los demonios por el poder del Espíritu de Dios, eso significa que el reino de Dios ha llegado a ustedes.

29 O r else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

Porque ¿cómo va a entrar alguien en la casa de un hombre fuerte, y cómo va a saquear sus bienes, si antes no lo ata? Sólo así podrá saquear su casa.

30 H e that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

El que no está conmigo, está contra mí; y el que no recoge conmigo, desparrama.

31 W herefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

Por tanto, les digo: A ustedes se les perdonará todo pecado y blasfemia, excepto la blasfemia contra el Espíritu.

32 A nd whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Cualquiera que hable mal del Hijo del Hombre, será perdonado; pero el que hable contra el Espíritu Santo no será perdonado, ni en este tiempo ni en el venidero.

33 E ither make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

Si el árbol es bueno, también su fruto es bueno; pero si el árbol es malo, también su fruto es malo. Al árbol se le conoce por sus frutos.

34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

¡Generación de víboras! ¿Cómo pueden decir cosas buenas, si son malos? Porque de la abundancia del corazón habla la boca.

35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

El hombre bueno saca cosas buenas del buen tesoro de su corazón; el hombre malo saca cosas malas de su mal tesoro.

36 B ut I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Pero yo les digo que, en el día del juicio, cada uno de ustedes dará cuenta de cada palabra ociosa que haya pronunciado.

37 F or by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Porque por tus palabras serás reivindicado, y por tus palabras serás condenado.» La generación perversa demanda señal

38 T hen certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

Entonces algunos de los escribas y de los fariseos le dijeron: «Maestro, deseamos ver una señal tuya.»

39 B ut he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

Pero él les dijo: «La generación mala y adúltera demanda una señal, pero no tendrán más señal que la del profeta Jonás.

40 F or as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Porque así como Jonás estuvo tres días y tres noches en el vientre del gran pez, así también el Hijo del Hombre estará tres días y tres noches en el corazón de la tierra.

41 T he men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

En el juicio, los habitantes de Nínive se levantarán contra esta generación y la condenarán, porque ellos se arrepintieron por la predicación de Jonás, y aquí hay alguien que es más grande que Jonás.

42 T he queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

En el juicio, la reina del Sur se levantará contra esta generación y la condenará, porque ella vino desde los confines de la tierra para escuchar la sabiduría de Salomón, y aquí hay alguien que es más grande que Salomón. El espíritu inmundo que vuelve

43 W hen the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

»Cuando el espíritu impuro sale del hombre, anda por lugares áridos en busca de reposo, y no lo halla.

44 T hen he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

Entonces dice: “Volveré a mi casa, de donde salí.” Y cuando llega, la halla desocupada, barrida y adornada.

45 T hen goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Entonces va y trae otros siete espíritus peores que él, y entran y allí se quedan a vivir. ¡Y el estado final de aquel hombre resulta ser peor que el primero! Así también le pasará a esta generación malvada.» La madre y los hermanos de Jesús

46 W hile he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

Mientras Jesús hablaba con la gente, su madre y sus hermanos estaban afuera, y querían hablar con él.

47 T hen one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

Alguien le dijo: «Tu madre y tus hermanos están afuera, y te quieren hablar.»

48 B ut he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

Él respondió al que le dijo esto: «¿Quién es mi madre, y quiénes son mis hermanos?»

49 A nd he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

Y extendiendo la mano hacia sus discípulos, dijo: «Mi madre y mis hermanos están aquí.

50 F or whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

Porque todos los que hacen la voluntad de mi Padre que está en los cielos son mis hermanos, mis hermanas, y mi madre.»
