1 T he word of the Lord came again unto me, saying,

«Tú, hijo de hombre, dedica este lamento a Tiro,

3 A nd say unto Tyrus, O thou that art situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord God; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.

la ciudad asentada a la orilla del mar, la ciudad que comercia con los pueblos de las costas. Dile que así ha dicho Dios el Señor: »Tiro, tú te jactas de ser bella y perfecta.

4 T hy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

Tus límites llegan al corazón de los mares. Tus constructores completaron tu belleza:

5 T hey have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.

Tomaron hayas del monte Senir y con ellas hicieron tus artesonados; tomaron cedros del monte Líbano y con ellos hicieron tus mástiles;

6 O f the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.

tus remos, con encinas de Basán; tus bancos, incrustados de marfil, los hicieron con pino de las costas de Quitín.

7 F ine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.

Tus velas eran de fino lino egipcio, y su bordado te servía de insignia; tu pabellón era de telas azuladas y purpúreas, traídas de las costas de Elisa.

8 T he inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.

»¡Ah, Tiro, que tuviste por remeros a gente de Sidón y de Arvad, y por timoneles a tus sabios!

9 T he ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.

Tus barcos eran calafateados por los más hábiles obreros de Gebal; los marinos de todas las flotas del mar venían a ti para hacer negocios.

10 T hey of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

»En tus ejércitos militaban soldados de Persia, Lud y Fut; de ti pendían espléndidos escudos y yelmos.

11 T he men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.

Tu ejército y los mercenarios de Arvad vigilaban las murallas en tu derredor, y los gamadeos permanecían en tus torres; sus escudos pendían de tus murallas, lo cual resaltaba su belleza.

12 T arshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.

»Era tal la abundancia de tus riquezas que de Tarsis venían a comerciar contigo, y a cambio de tus mercaderías te daban plata, hierro, estaño y plomo.

13 J avan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.

Contigo Javán, Tubal y Mesec intercambiaban gente y objetos de bronce.

14 T hey of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.

Los de Bet Togarmá te pagaban con caballos, corceles de guerra y mulos.

15 T he men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.

Comerciaban contigo los de Dedán, y muchas costas te compraban mercaderías y te pagaban con marfil y ébano.

16 S yria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.

A cambio de tus productos Edom te daba perlas, púrpura, vestidos bordados, finos linos, corales y rubíes.

17 J udah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

Israel y Judá hacían negocios contigo, y a cambio te daban trigo de Minit y Panag, lo mismo que miel, aceite y resina.

18 D amascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

Eran tantos tus productos y tan abundante tu riqueza que Damasco hacía negocios contigo con vino de Jelbón y lana blanca.

19 D an also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.

Dan y Javán venían a tus ferias, y en tu mercado ofrecían hierro forjado, mirra destilada y caña aromática.

20 D edan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.

Dedán te vendía preciosos paños para que tapizaras tus carros.

21 A rabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.

Arabia y todos los príncipes de Cedar hacían negocios contigo, y te pagaban con corderos, carneros y machos cabríos.

22 T he merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

También fueron tus clientes los mercaderes de Sabá y de Ragama; venían a tus ferias y te pagaban con oro y con sus mejores perfumes, y con toda clase de piedras preciosas.

23 H aran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.

Contigo negociaban Harán, Cane, Edén, y los mercaderes de Sabá, Asiria y Quilmad.

24 T hese were thy merchants in all sorts of things, in blue clothes, and broidered work, and in chests of rich apparel, bound with cords, and made of cedar, among thy merchandise.

Estos clientes tuyos te compraban mantos de púrpura y telas bordadas, y baúles con preciosos vestidos, cordones trenzados y madera de cedro.

25 T he ships of Tarshish did sing of thee in thy market: and thou wast replenished, and made very glorious in the midst of the seas.

»Las naves de Tarsis parecían caravanas que navegaban con tus mercaderías. Fue así como llegaste a ser poderosa; ¡aumentaste el número de tus barcos!

26 T hy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.

Tus remeros te llevaron a grandes mares. Pero el viento solano te azotará en alta mar.

27 T hy riches, and thy fairs, thy merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.

Un día te hundirás en el fondo del mar, y contigo se hundirán tus riquezas, tus mercaderías y todo lo que vendías, junto con tus remeros y tus pilotos, tus calafateadores, tus agentes de negocios, tus guerreros y la tripulación entera.

28 T he suburbs shall shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.

Las costas temblarán cuando escuchen los gritos angustiados de tus marineros.

29 A nd all that handle the oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;

Los remeros abandonarán sus barcos, y junto con los pilotos se quedarán en tierra.

30 A nd shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall wallow themselves in the ashes:

Entonces dejarán oír su voz por ti, y gritarán amargamente; se echarán polvo sobre la cabeza y se revolcarán en ceniza.

31 A nd they shall make themselves utterly bald for thee, and gird them with sackcloth, and they shall weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter wailing.

Por ti se arrancarán los cabellos, se pondrán vestidos de luto, y entonarán amargos y sentidos lamentos.

32 A nd in their wailing they shall take up a lamentation for thee, and lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?

Y en sus lamentos dirán de ti: “Tiro, ¿quién podía compararse a ti, tú que fuiste destruida en medio del mar?

33 W hen thy wares went forth out of the seas, thou filledst many people; thou didst enrich the kings of the earth with the multitude of thy riches and of thy merchandise.

Tus mercaderías salían de tus naves, y con ellas saciabas a muchos pueblos; con tus muchas riquezas y tu comercio enriqueciste a los reyes de la tierra.

34 I n the time when thou shalt be broken by the seas in the depths of the waters thy merchandise and all thy company in the midst of thee shall fall.

Pero naufragaste en medio del mar, y te hundiste en las aguas profundas, y contigo se hundieron tus comerciantes; ¡se hundieron todos tus tripulantes!

35 A ll the inhabitants of the isles shall be astonished at thee, and their kings shall be sore afraid, they shall be troubled in their countenance.

Asombrados quedaron al verte todos los que habitan en las costas; espantados, sus reyes temblaron de miedo, y sus rostros palidecieron.

36 T he merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.

Los mercaderes de otros pueblos lanzaron silbidos de burla contra ti. Has llegado a ser motivo de espanto; ¡para siempre has dejado de existir!”»
