1 В эти дни, когда число учеников стало расти, грекоязычные евреи начали жаловаться на местных евреев. Они говорили, что те пренебрегают их вдовами, когда раздают ежедневную пищу.

And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.

2 Т огда Двенадцать созвали всех учеников и сказали: – Мы не можем, оставив служение словом Божьим, заняться обслуживанием столов.

Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.

3 П оэтому, братья, выберите из вашей среды семь человек с хорошей репутацией, исполненных Духа и мудрости, и мы возложим на них эту обязанность.

Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

4 С ами же мы будем продолжать молиться и нести служение слова.

But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

5 Э то предложение всем понравилось, и выбрали Стефана, человека, полного веры и Святого Духа, Филиппа, Прохора, Никанора, Тимона, Пармена и Николая из Антиохии, обращенного в иудаизм.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Ghost, and Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a proselyte of Antioch:

6 И х представили апостолам, и те помолились и возложили на них руки.

Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.

7 С лово Божье распространялось, и число учеников в Иерусалиме быстро увеличивалось, даже многие священники покорились вере. Арест Стефана

And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.

8 С тефан, человек, полный Божьей благодати и силы, совершал в народе великие чудеса и знамения.

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

9 Н екоторые из членов так называемой Синагоги Вольноотпущенников, Киренцев и Александрийцев, а также иудеи из Киликии и провинции Азия, вступили в спор со Стефаном.

Then there arose certain of the synagogue, which is called the synagogue of the Libertines, and Cyrenians, and Alexandrians, and of them of Cilicia and of Asia, disputing with Stephen.

10 Н о они ничего не могли противопоставить мудрости и силе Духа, с которыми говорил Стефан.

And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.

11 Т огда они тайно подговорили нескольких людей сказать: «Мы слышали, как Стефан говорил кощунственные слова против Моисея и Бога».

Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and against God.

12 О ни возбудили народ, старейшин и учителей Закона; напав на Стефана, они схватили его и привели в Высший Совет.

And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon him, and caught him, and brought him to the council,

13 П редставили лжесвидетелей, которые сказали: – Этот человек постоянно говорит против святого храма и против Закона.

And set up false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the law:

14 М ы слышали, как он говорил, что Иисус из Назарета разрушит храм и изменит обычаи, которые передал нам Моисей.

For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.

15 В се сидевшие в Высшем Совете внимательно смотрели на Стефана и видели, что лицо его, как лицо ангела.

And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
