1 O n the same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the sea.

Aquel día salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó junto al mar.

2 A nd great multitudes were gathered together to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.

Y se le juntó mucha gente; y entrando él en la barca, se sentó, y toda la gente estaba en la playa.

3 T hen He spoke many things to them in parables, saying: “Behold, a sower went out to sow.

Y les habló muchas cosas por parábolas, diciendo: He aquí, el sembrador salió a sembrar.

4 A nd as he sowed, some seed fell by the wayside; and the birds came and devoured them.

Y mientras sembraba, parte de la semilla cayó junto al camino; y vinieron las aves y la comieron.

5 S ome fell on stony places, where they did not have much earth; and they immediately sprang up because they had no depth of earth.

Parte cayó en pedregales, donde no había mucha tierra; y brotó pronto, porque no tenía profundidad de tierra;

6 B ut when the sun was up they were scorched, and because they had no root they withered away.

pero salido el sol, se quemó; y porque no tenía raíz, se secó.

7 A nd some fell among thorns, and the thorns sprang up and choked them.

Y parte cayó entre espinos; y los espinos crecieron, y la ahogaron.

8 B ut others fell on good ground and yielded a crop: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Pero parte cayó en buena tierra, y dio fruto, cuál a ciento, cuál a sesenta, y cuál a treinta por uno.

9 H e who has ears to hear, let him hear!” The Purpose of Parables

El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. Propósito de las parábolas (Mr. 4. 10-12; Lc. 8. 9-10)

10 A nd the disciples came and said to Him, “Why do You speak to them in parables?”

Entonces, acercándose los discípulos, le dijeron: ¿Por qué les hablas por parábolas?

11 H e answered and said to them, “Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it has not been given.

El respondiendo, les dijo: Porque a vosotros os es dado saber los misterios del reino de los cielos; mas a ellos no les es dado.

12 F or whoever has, to him more will be given, and he will have abundance; but whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

Porque a cualquiera que tiene, se le dará, y tendrá más; pero al que no tiene, aun lo que tiene le será quitado.

13 T herefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

Por eso les hablo por parábolas: porque viendo no ven, y oyendo no oyen, ni entienden.

14 A nd in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, And seeing you will see and not perceive;

De manera que se cumple en ellos la profecía de Isaías, que dijo: De oído oiréis, y no entenderéis; Y viendo veréis, y no percibiréis.

15 F or the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, And their eyes they have closed, Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, Lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’

Porque el corazón de este pueblo se ha engrosado, Y con los oídos oyen pesadamente, Y han cerrado sus ojos; Para que no vean con los ojos, Y oigan con los oídos, Y con el corazón entiendan, Y se conviertan, Y yo los sane. m

16 B ut blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;

Pero bienaventurados vuestros ojos, porque ven; y vuestros oídos, porque oyen.

17 f or assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men desired to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it. The Parable of the Sower Explained

Porque de cierto os digo, que muchos profetas y justos desearon ver lo que veis, y no lo vieron; y oír lo que oís, y no lo oyeron. Jesús explica la parábola del sembrador (Mr. 4. 13-20; Lc. 8. 11-15)

18 “ Therefore hear the parable of the sower:

Oíd, pues, vosotros la parábola del sembrador:

19 W hen anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

Cuando alguno oye la palabra del reino y no la entiende, viene el malo, y arrebata lo que fue sembrado en su corazón. Este es el que fue sembrado junto al camino.

20 B ut he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;

Y el que fue sembrado en pedregales, éste es el que oye la palabra, y al momento la recibe con gozo;

21 y et he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

pero no tiene raíz en sí, sino que es de corta duración, pues al venir la aflicción o la persecución por causa de la palabra, luego tropieza.

22 N ow he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

El que fue sembrado entre espinos, éste es el que oye la palabra, pero el afán de este siglo y el engaño de las riquezas ahogan la palabra, y se hace infructuosa.

23 B ut he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces: some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” The Parable of the Wheat and the Tares

Mas el que fue sembrado en buena tierra, éste es el que oye y entiende la palabra, y da fruto; y produce a ciento, a sesenta, y a treinta por uno. Parábola del trigo y la cizaña

24 A nother parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field;

Les refirió otra parábola, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo;

25 b ut while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.

pero mientras dormían los hombres, vino su enemigo y sembró cizaña entre el trigo, y se fue.

26 B ut when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.

Y cuando salió la hierba y dio fruto, entonces apareció también la cizaña.

27 S o the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’

Vinieron entonces los siervos del padre de familia y le dijeron: Señor, ¿no sembraste buena semilla en tu campo? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene cizaña?

28 H e said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’

El les dijo: Un enemigo ha hecho esto. Y los siervos le dijeron: ¿Quieres, pues, que vayamos y la arranquemos?

29 B ut he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.

El les dijo: No, no sea que al arrancar la cizaña, arranquéis también con ella el trigo.

30 L et both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”’” The Parable of the Mustard Seed

Dejad crecer juntamente lo uno y lo otro hasta la siega; y al tiempo de la siega yo diré a los segadores: Recoged primero la cizaña, y atadla en manojos para quemarla; pero recoged el trigo en mi granero. Parábola de la semilla de mostaza (Mr. 4. 30-32; Lc. 13. 18-19)

31 A nother parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field,

Otra parábola les refirió, diciendo: El reino de los cielos es semejante al grano de mostaza, que un hombre tomó y sembró en su campo;

32 w hich indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.” The Parable of the Leaven

el cual a la verdad es la más pequeña de todas las semillas; pero cuando ha crecido, es la mayor de las hortalizas, y se hace árbol, de tal manera que vienen las aves del cielo y hacen nidos en sus ramas. Parábola de la levadura (Lc. 13. 20-21)

33 A nother parable He spoke to them: “The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened.” Prophecy and the Parables

Otra parábola les dijo: El reino de los cielos es semejante a la levadura que tomó una mujer, y escondió en tres medidas de harina, hasta que todo fue leudado. El uso que Jesús hace de las parábolas (Mr. 4. 33-34)

34 A ll these things Jesus spoke to the multitude in parables; and without a parable He did not speak to them,

Todo esto habló Jesús por parábolas a la gente, y sin parábolas no les hablaba;

35 t hat it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying: “I will open My mouth in parables; I will utter things kept secret from the foundation of the world.” The Parable of the Tares Explained

36 T hen Jesus sent the multitude away and went into the house. And His disciples came to Him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the tares of the field.”

Entonces, despedida la gente, entró Jesús en la casa; y acercándose a él sus discípulos, le dijeron: Explícanos la parábola de la cizaña del campo.

37 H e answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man.

Respondiendo él, les dijo: El que siembra la buena semilla es el Hijo del Hombre.

38 T he field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one.

El campo es el mundo; la buena semilla son los hijos del reino, y la cizaña son los hijos del malo.

39 T he enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels.

El enemigo que la sembró es el diablo; la siega es el fin del siglo; y los segadores son los ángeles.

40 T herefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age.

De manera que como se arranca la cizaña, y se quema en el fuego, así será en el fin de este siglo.

41 T he Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,

Enviará el Hijo del Hombre a sus ángeles, y recogerán de su reino a todos los que sirven de tropiezo, y a los que hacen iniquidad,

42 a nd will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes.

43 T hen the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear! The Parable of the Hidden Treasure

Entonces los justos resplandecerán como el sol en el reino de su Padre. El que tiene oídos para oír, oiga. El tesoro escondido

44 “ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. The Parable of the Pearl of Great Price

Además, el reino de los cielos es semejante a un tesoro escondido en un campo, el cual un hombre halla, y lo esconde de nuevo; y gozoso por ello va y vende todo lo que tiene, y compra aquel campo. La perla de gran precio

45 “ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls,

También el reino de los cielos es semejante a un mercader que busca buenas perlas,

46 w ho, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it. The Parable of the Dragnet

que habiendo hallado una perla preciosa, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía, y la compró. La red

47 “ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some of every kind,

Asimismo el reino de los cielos es semejante a una red, que echada en el mar, recoge de toda clase de peces;

48 w hich, when it was full, they drew to shore; and they sat down and gathered the good into vessels, but threw the bad away.

y una vez llena, la sacan a la orilla; y sentados, recogen lo bueno en cestas, y lo malo echan fuera.

49 S o it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just,

Así será al fin del siglo: saldrán los ángeles, y apartarán a los malos de entre los justos,

50 a nd cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

y los echarán en el horno de fuego; allí será el lloro y el crujir de dientes. Tesoros nuevos y viejos

51 J esus said to them, “Have you understood all these things?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.”

Jesús les dijo: ¿Habéis entendido todas estas cosas? Ellos respondieron: Sí, Señor.

52 T hen He said to them, “Therefore every scribe instructed concerning the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure things new and old.” Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

El les dijo: Por eso todo escriba docto en el reino de los cielos es semejante a un padre de familia, que saca de su tesoro cosas nuevas y cosas viejas. Jesús en Nazaret (Mr. 6. 1-6; Lc. 4. 16-30)

53 N ow it came to pass, when Jesus had finished these parables, that He departed from there.

Aconteció que cuando terminó Jesús estas parábolas, se fue de allí.

54 W hen He had come to His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished and said, “Where did this Man get this wisdom and these mighty works?

Y venido a su tierra, les enseñaba en la sinagoga de ellos, de tal manera que se maravillaban, y decían: ¿De dónde tiene éste esta sabiduría y estos milagros?

55 I s this not the carpenter’s son? Is not His mother called Mary? And His brothers James, Joses, Simon, and Judas?

¿No es éste el hijo del carpintero? ¿No se llama su madre María, y sus hermanos, Jacobo, José, Simón y Judas?

56 A nd His sisters, are they not all with us? Where then did this Man get all these things?”

¿No están todas sus hermanas con nosotros? ¿De dónde, pues, tiene éste todas estas cosas?

57 S o they were offended at Him. But Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.”

Y se escandalizaban de él. Pero Jesús les dijo: No hay profeta sin honra, sino en su propia tierra y en su casa.

58 N ow He did not do many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

Y no hizo allí muchos milagros, a causa de la incredulidad de ellos.
