1 M y son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

Hijo mío, está atento a mi sabiduría, Y a mi inteligencia inclina tu oído,

2 T hat thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

Para que guardes la reflexión, Y tus labios conserven la ciencia.

3 F or the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

Porque los labios de la mujer extraña destilan miel, Y su paladar es más blando que el aceite;

4 B ut her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

Mas su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, Aguzado como espada de dos filos.

5 H er feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Sus pies descienden a la muerte; Sus pasos conducen al Seol.

6 L est thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

Sus caminos son desviados, sin que se percate de ello, Por no considerar el camino de vida.

7 H ear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Ahora pues, hijos, oídme, Y no os apartéis de las razones de mi boca.

8 R emove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

Aleja de ella tu camino, Y no te acerques a la puerta de su casa;

9 L est thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Para que no des a los extraños tu honor, Y tus años al cruel;

10 L est strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

No sea que extraños se sacien de tus bienes, Y el fruto de tus trabajos vaya a parar a casa del extraño;

11 A nd thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

Y gimas al final, Cuando tu carne y tu cuerpo se hayan consumido,

12 A nd say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

Y digas: ¡Cómo desoí el consejo, Y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión;

13 A nd have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

No escuché la voz de los que me instruían, Y a los que me enseñaban no presté atención!

14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

Por poco llego al colmo de la desgracia, En medio de la sociedad y de la congregación.

15 D rink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

Bebe el agua de tu misma cisterna, Y los raudales de tu propio pozo.

16 L et thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

¿Se derramarán tus fuentes por las calles, Y tus corrientes de aguas por las plazas?

17 L et them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

Sean para ti solo, Y no para los extraños contigo.

18 L et thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

Sea bendito tu manantial, Y gózate en la mujer de tu juventud,

19 L et her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

Como cierva amada y graciosa gacela. Sus caricias te satisfagan en todo tiempo, Y en su amor recréate siempre.

20 A nd why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

¿Y por qué, hijo mío, andarás ciego con la mujer ajena, Y abrazarás el seno de la extraña?

21 F or the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.

Porque los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Jehová, Y él considera todas sus veredas.

22 H is own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

Prenderán al impío sus propias iniquidades, Y será retenido con las cuerdas de su pecado.

23 H e shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

Él morirá por falta de corrección, Y errará por lo inmenso de su locura.
