1 N ow upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.

El primer día de la semana, muy de mañana, vinieron al sepulcro, trayendo las especias aromáticas que habían preparado; y algunas otras mujeres con ellas.

2 A nd they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.

Y hallaron que había sido retirada la piedra del sepulcro;

3 A nd they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.

y entrando, no hallaron el cuerpo del Señor Jesús.

4 A nd it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:

Aconteció que estando ellas perplejas por esto, he aquí que se pararon junto a ellas dos varones con vestiduras resplandecientes;

5 A nd as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

y al llenarse ellas de miedo, y bajar el rostro a tierra, les dijeron ellos: ¿Por qué buscáis entre los muertos al que vive?

6 H e is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,

No está aquí, sino que ha resucitado. Recordad cómo os habló cuando aún estaba en Galilea,

7 S aying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.

diciendo: Es necesario que el Hijo del Hombre sea entregado en manos de hombres pecadores, y que sea crucificado, y resucite al tercer día.

8 A nd they remembered his words,

Entonces ellas se acordaron de sus palabras,

9 A nd returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven, and to all the rest.

y volviendo del sepulcro, refirieron todas estas cosas a los once, y a todos los demás.

10 I t was Mary Magdalene and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and other women that were with them, which told these things unto the apostles.

Eran María Magdalena, y Juana, y María madre de Jacobo, y las demás con ellas, quienes dijeron estas cosas a los apóstoles.

11 A nd their words seemed to them as idle tales, and they believed them not.

Mas a ellos les parecían locura las palabras de ellas, y no las creían.

12 T hen arose Peter, and ran unto the sepulchre; and stooping down, he beheld the linen clothes laid by themselves, and departed, wondering in himself at that which was come to pass.

Pero Pedro se levantó, y corrió al sepulcro; y asomándose adentro, vio las vendas de amortajar puestas allí solas, y se fue a casa asombrado de lo que había sucedido. En el camino de Emaús

13 A nd, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus, which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.

Y he aquí que dos de ellos iban caminando el mismo día a una aldea llamada Emaús, que estaba a sesenta estadios de Jerusalén.

14 A nd they talked together of all these things which had happened.

E iban hablando entre sí de todas aquellas cosas que habían acontecido.

15 A nd it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.

Sucedió que mientras hablaban y discutían entre sí, Jesús mismo se acercó, y se puso a caminar con ellos.

16 B ut their eyes were holden that they should not know him.

Mas los ojos de ellos estaban velados, para que no le conociesen.

17 A nd he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?

Y les dijo: ¿Qué discusiones son éstas que tenéis entre vosotros mientras camináis, y por qué estáis tristes?

18 A nd the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him, Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come to pass there in these days?

Respondiendo uno de ellos, que se llamaba Cleofas, le dijo: ¿Eres tú el único forastero en Jerusalén que no te has enterado de las cosas que en ella han acontecido en estos días?

19 A nd he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people:

Entonces él les dijo: ¿Qué cosas? Y ellos le dijeron: De Jesús nazareno, que fue un profeta, poderoso en obra y en palabra delante de Dios y de todo el pueblo;

20 A nd how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.

y cómo le entregaron los principales sacerdotes, así como nuestros gobernantes, a sentencia de muerte, y le crucificaron.

21 B ut we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

Pero nosotros esperábamos que él era el que iba a redimir a Israel; ciertamente, y además de todo esto, hoy es ya el tercer día desde que esto ha acontecido.

22 Y ea, and certain women also of our company made us astonished, which were early at the sepulchre;

Y también nos han asombrado unas mujeres de entre nosotros, las que de madrugada fueron al sepulcro;

23 A nd when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.

y como no hallaron su cuerpo, vinieron diciendo que también habían visto visión de ángeles, los cuales dicen que él vive.

24 A nd certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.

Y fueron algunos de los nuestros al sepulcro, y lo hallaron tal como las mujeres habían dicho, pero a él no le vieron.

25 T hen he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken:

Entonces él les dijo: ¡Oh insensatos, y tardos de corazón para creer en todo lo que los profetas han dicho!

26 O ught not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

¿No era necesario que el Cristo padeciera estas cosas, y que entrara en su gloria?

27 A nd beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.

Y comenzando desde Moisés, y siguiendo por todos los profetas, se puso a explicarles en todas las Escrituras lo referente a él.

28 A nd they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though he would have gone further.

Llegaron a la aldea adonde iban, y él hizo como que iba más lejos.

29 B ut they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.

Mas ellos le constriñeron, diciendo: Quédate con nosotros, porque atardece, y el día ya ha declinado. Entró, pues, a quedarse con ellos.

30 A nd it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them.

Y aconteció que estando sentado con ellos a la mesa, tomó el pan y bendijo; y partiéndolo, les dio.

31 A nd their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight.

Entonces les fueron abiertos los ojos, y le reconocieron; mas él desapareció de su vista.

32 A nd they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?

Y se dijeron el uno al otro: ¿No estaba ardiendo nuestro corazón dentro de nosotros, mientras nos hablaba en el camino, cuando nos abría las Escrituras?

33 A nd they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

Y levantándose en aquella misma hora, volvieron a Jerusalén, y hallaron a los once reunidos, y a los que estaban con ellos,

34 S aying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.

que decían: Ha resucitado el Señor verdaderamente, y se ha aparecido a Simón.

35 A nd they told what things were done in the way, and how he was known of them in breaking of bread.

Entonces ellos contaban las cosas que les habían acontecido en el camino, y cómo le habían reconocido al partir el pan. El Señor se aparece a los discípulos

36 A nd as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you.

Mientras ellos aún hablaban de estas cosas, Jesús se puso en medio de ellos, y les dijo: Paz a vosotros.

37 B ut they were terrified and affrighted, and supposed that they had seen a spirit.

Entonces, espantados y atemorizados, creían ver un espíritu.

38 A nd he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in your hearts?

Pero él les dijo: ¿Por qué estáis turbados, y se suscitan en vuestro corazón estos pensamientos?

39 B ehold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.

Mirad mis manos y mis pies, que soy yo mismo; palpad, y ved; porque un espíritu no tiene carne ni huesos, como veis que yo tengo.

40 A nd when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

Y diciendo esto, les mostró las manos y los pies.

41 A nd while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat?

Y como todavía ellos, de gozo, no lo creían, y estaban asombrados, les dijo: ¿Tenéis aquí algo de comer?

42 A nd they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.

Entonces le dieron parte de un pez asado, y un panal de miel.

43 A nd he took it, and did eat before them.

Y él lo tomó, y comió a la vista de ellos.

44 A nd he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

Y les dijo: Estas son las palabras que os hablé, estando aún con vosotros: que era necesario que se cumpliese todo lo que está escrito de mí en la ley de Moisés, en los profetas y en los salmos.

45 T hen opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

Entonces les abrió la mente, para que comprendiesen las Escrituras;

46 A nd said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behooved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

y les dijo: Así está escrito, y así era necesario que el Cristo padeciese, y resucitase de los muertos al tercer día;

47 A nd that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

y que se predicase en su nombre el arrepentimiento y el perdón de pecados a todas las naciones, comenzando desde Jerusalén.

48 A nd ye are witnesses of these things.

Y vosotros sois testigos de estas cosas.

49 A nd, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

He aquí que yo voy a enviar sobre vosotros la promesa de mi Padre; pero vosotros quedaos en la ciudad, hasta que seáis revestidos de poder desde lo alto. La ascensión

50 A nd he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

Y los sacó fuera hasta Betania, y alzando sus manos, los bendijo.

51 A nd it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

Y aconteció que mientras los bendecía, se fue alejando de ellos, e iba siendo llevado arriba al cielo.

52 A nd they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:

Ellos, después de haberle adorado, se volvieron a Jerusalén con gran gozo;

53 A nd were continually in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

y estaban siempre en el templo, alabando y bendiciendo a Dios. Amén.
